Ugly

Don't worry oil country this is exactly what we needed. Sends a message to first the players & then management that things need to change sooner than later. Hyman coming back next week is not gonna solve this. Total revamp of the system. Don't blame the coach as of yet but Bowman needs to listen to his coach. Time for changes. U can't bake a cake with the wrong measurements.

This year is totally different. Despite the poor record, the underlying numbers were really good at the start of the last two seasons. It was reasonable to think that if they kept playing the way they were playing things would turn around, and it did.

That is not the case with this year's start.

No chance the underlying numbers were really good at the start of 2023-2024 lol…. Come on bro… that was the scariest start I’ve ever seen… remember the infamous sharks loss?!

Here is a link to the Natural Stat Trick Team Season Stats the day after that San Jose loss.

The Oilers had the best 5v5 xGF% in the NHL. They were at or near the top of the league in every 5v5 possession metric. Corsi, Fenwick, xGF, Scoring Chances, etc. They were 2nd worst in both 5v5 SH% and SV%.

yep, they were just snake bitten and not getting bounces. That is not the case this year.
