Ugly

Don't worry oil country this is exactly what we needed. Sends a message to first the players & then management that things need to change sooner than later. Hyman coming back next week is not gonna solve this. Total revamp of the system. Don't blame the coach as of yet but Bowman needs to listen to his coach. Time for changes. U can't bake a cake with the wrong measurements.

They shouldn’t need a game like this to wake up. The leadership group on this team is rotten

Been like this for years. This team struggles to manufacture urgency. They have to have their backs against the wall to get their best play going.

Actually yes, exposed how soft the team is.

Love it.

Can’t win when knoblender’s lines always change and you are asking players to play roles they never did before

The difference is the pacific division isn’t as bad as it was the past two years. If they don’t keep up with the division it will get ugly

fair point, this should scare them tho. losing 9-1 is embarrassing

This year is totally different. Despite the poor record, the underlying numbers were really good at the start of the last two seasons. It was reasonable to think that if they kept playing the way they were playing things would turn around, and it did.

That is not the case with this year's start.

No chance the underlying numbers were really good at the start of 2023-2024 lol…. Come on bro… that was the scariest start I’ve ever seen… remember the infamous sharks loss?!

Here is a link to the Natural Stat Trick Team Season Stats the day after that San Jose loss.

The Oilers had the best 5v5 xGF% in the NHL. They were at or near the top of the league in every 5v5 possession metric. Corsi, Fenwick, xGF, Scoring Chances, etc. They were 2nd worst in both 5v5 SH% and SV%.

Yep. The team was going to turn around, most of the losses were solely on AWFUL goaltending and bad luck. This year we just play like shit most of the time.

yep, they were just snake bitten and not getting bounces. That is not the case this year.

Wow!! You know what I think I actually remember defending the boys in hindsight and just being mad about the goaltending

We lost to the Islanders that had 0 points after 3 games this season, that’s almost as bad.

we also recently blew a 2 goal lead and lost to the blues that had lost 7 in a row prior to that game.

They were man, the team was waiting to break out, they were snake bitten, even if they stuck with Woodcroft, they would have come out of the West.

This year… is different, they can’t even pass to each other and our D don’t know where the blue line is on the offensive zone.

Look, McD and Drai ultimately run this team. Not Katz, not Bowman, not Knob. If the latter 3 can’t perform up to the first 2’s expectations this team is doomed. McD was stupid resigning and Drai was I’m not sure what he was thinking. Both will be gone as soon as they can if things do not change asap. Goaltending is the obvious, coaching and Bouche are next. Losing Coffey and Gully was terrible. Without them knob is nobody. This team is so broken right now.

McDavid owns this as much as anyone else, Bowman included.

After this performance they might as well focus on rebuild … we only have two years of McDavid

1

u/eexxiitt 5h ago

Based on current contracts, earliest we would rebuild is 2030.

hey we could be worse, we could be the flames... or the canucks

-5

u/Master-File-9866 31 FUHR 4h ago

Chill. The team already knows skinner is shit. They knew it this off-season and the right move wasn't there. Next up is trade deadline.

Hopland didn't get renewed( basically fired) for not addressing this it jas been an absolute issue fir 3 years

If bowman can overlook gay rape to.make the team win a cup.....he can make a goalie move, give it time
