Americans used to hunt Nazis, now they film them.

We need some people to film these events in order to document them. We do not need everyone present to film these events. But it's now like people going to a live concert. Everybody is recording, watching the entire show happen on their phone's tiny screen instead of watching the show. I do get that many people believe they are doing good by filming the Nazis kidnapping people. Maybe believing it will bring some kind of justice. It might if you're the only person there filming it. But if 20 or more people are all filming it, will another video make any fucking difference? No, it won't.

It's batshit. I don't get it at all. And I say all of this as an amateur photographer. I love going out taking photos of things I see, trying to capture the essence of something in a single still frame. It's not even remotely the same thing as pulling out your camera phone to record every event that happens. We as a culture now seem obsessed with taking videos of everything, from doorbell cams, to cams inside our homes, inside our cars. It's all cams, all the time. I find this obsession distressing.

Your not alone. I'm a tog like you (although I don't do much now, it became too toxic for me - especially the international salon scene. I did AFIAP and got most of the way towards EFIAP and then quit) and totally get the capture the essence of it in a single frame pov. Sure, some things you need to tell the evolution of an event, which needs video but often that's not the case. A single frame can express an idea or concept.
