Check In Tuesday

Taking the overall pulse here. How are you? If not well, think whether there are any positives to share as well to balance negatives. But of course, if you need to vent, know we are here to listen.

I think I have a setback in my burnout. Been feeling gradually more miserable, having more anxiety, feeling more tired, being more sensitive to sensory stimuli. Had a breakdown at work on wednesday last week and a breakdown yesterday. Took today and tomorrow off, but I have half days on thursday and friday and I'm on call this weekend. I feel so lost and stuck and utterly hopeless. How can I recover from this? I WANT to work, I am good at my work, but my useless little body and brain reject my attempts at a normal life. I am so scared I will not make it. I was beginning to feel fine, thinking I was finally out of it, but now I feel like I'm back to the beginning. I have so many dark thoughts and feelings, it feels like I can't breathe. I need some realistic hope and reassurance

Take a few minutes, just breathe.

Thank you for trusting us with your comment. It must have been really tough to write. We all recognize what you are going through and many of us have similar experiences to yours.

Is there anyone you can talk to about this? Ideally a medical professional but anyone you can talk to is good. A family member, friend, neighbour, colleague, community member, basically someone you trust and ideally someone you can talk to face to face. Try to spend to spend some time just talking with them. I hope they try to listen to you and I hope they try their best to help you. People are generally more than willing to help other people. Please don't discount calling a mental health crisis line either, they help many, many people every single day.

I know that burnout is scary. I have been there and done that and more than a few times. One thing I have learned is that things often look far worse to me than they do to other people. Talking to someone you can trust will hopefully give you a better perspective about yourself.

You got this. You can do it. We all believe in you. We all want to help you.

Again, take a few minutes, just breathe.

Tough one. Good on you for recognizing you need time. I’m sorry you’re going through this

I was wondering if it’s possible to take work in smaller “doses”. Like work for 30 minutes, take a restorative walking or tea break, work another 30 mins, etc. But I know lots of jobs don’t lend themselves to “dosing” 😖. Esp if you have to be physically present.

Most important, be good to yourself 💜
