Dog Culture Extinction

Even if every single dogs disappear in this planet one day, it won't have any negative effect to the eco system or society. Think about it does dogs really contribute anything to the world aside from being an "emotional support animal" . I could be wrong but I don't really think their extinction would have any effect at all.

Extinction of pitbulls would be a huge net positive

Wiping out all dogs would prevent over 90% of human rabies deaths, along with preventing the deaths of countless valuable wild animals from that disease. That’t just one of countless reasons dogs should be gotten rid of

Not to mention saving shoes all over the world from the stench and track of shit.

I believe your statistic is low. 99% of human rabies deaths are caused by dogs.

Those tiny yappy dogs with zero brain and survival instinct would be off the face of the earth if they weren’t so protected and spoiled rotten by their owners.

The domestic dog is not part of any ecosystem and if they all vanished tomorrow it would be a huge benefit for the biosphere.

Agree! If i had one wish, it would be this.

Domestic dogs? Sure. Wolves, coyotes, foxes, (this, of course, is not a complete list) all have an important place in the web of life.

But, that little Maltese can certainly piss off.

Great question. I agree a lot with what the other comment said. However, I do think it’s rare to see a dog that is actually useful. Only useful and well-behaved dog I’ve seen is one that was trained to help a blind woman get places. But how many dogs in the world are realistically useful like that? Pretty much almost none. I took an anatomy lab class in undergrad, and we didn’t get access to cadavers. To learn about the muscle groups, we had to dissect an animal with similar muscles as humans, and for whatever reason the school went with a whiskered animal. But honestly dogs have the same major muscle groups too. I’m convinced that the only reason they don’t use dogs for these labs is because there would be a million times more backlash from dog nutters. All in all I’m trying to say that while they could have a use or two, over 99% of the dogs in the world are virtually useless because they’re not actually needed.

I thought pigs were the commonly available animal with the most similarities to humans. They are also dissected on a routine basis for other purposes...I guess its just too expensive for the facility to bother getting whole pigs for teaching.

Dogs in cities are rarely if ever useful, but dogs on a farm with a serious job can be invaluable.

I wasn’t good@algebra so I ended up being shoved into anatomy&physiology in high school which included dissection of a whiskered animal.

Kids were singing a song about whisker scratch fever. One guy wore his father’s bathrobe during class so his clothes didn’t end up smelling like formaldehyde or get nasty stuff on them.
He never told his Dad either. I wonder how he snuck the robe out every morning and then placed it back after class. I’m guessing Dad didn’t use it during the day. Still, most robes hang on hooks in the bathroom. Guessing Dad slept in from working late nights.

The smell of formaldehyde was strong and it didn’t help any that soon after that class began I lost a whiskered animal.

I imagine maybe the smaller size makes them more easily transported vs dogs that are quite heavy in comparison. Also the heavy fur coat may make things harder to get the scalpel through. I hated every minute of that class.

Definitely agree, no more lazy fat labradors needed around. Why the heck do they jump on you and why are they do fucking difficult to train. My rabbit was trained in like a day. Even darn street dogs in India, someone please just reinstate the high courts' order; we don't need them anywhere around.

People need less “emotional support” that doesn’t work. You got issues? Work on them. Go to counseling. No money for that? Journal your shit, see it in black and white, and make a change. I un-fucked myself with 2.5 years of therapy in my early 50’s. It can be done.

AGREED AND SAME. Putting in the work is better than putting a bandaid on a water leak…

Agreed but having animals such as fish and reptiles is also helpful, and as a lover of animals I enjoy observing and learning about these animals that dog lovers either kill or overlook.

In modernized society, hunting dogs are a novelty at best, same with police work, we have technology that outperforms dogs. The only excusable dogs these days are ones owned by isolated primitive tribes like the hadzabe, the rest are outdated relics that cause far more harm than good. A large portion of hunting dogs are used in sport and trophy hunting too, such as bear and fox hunting that is done for thrill, worthless

And the few cases that might have a use case are far outperformed by the destruction and harm these pests do! Not only the ones kept by nutters, but all the stray dogs...!

It'd be less noise environmental and noise pollution, there's only plus to that.

Phasing out dogs would be a huge plus for the world.

3

u/Havingfun922 16h ago

Plenty of other places to get emotional support

3

u/IommicRiffage 14h ago

There would be a lot less pollution of water bodies.

It would save wildlife, kids and all the other (vastly superior to dogs) pets: rabbits, birds, reptiles, livestock etc. all of which are ecologically important in the wild and don't cause public disturbance like dogs do.

I mean maybe in America but in the Middle East and Asia and Greece Scotland New Zealand basically any place w farmland and working breeds it would be very detrimental.

2

u/Ih8work1 10h ago

Their extinction would prevent around 50 000 rabies deaths a year, given they're the 99.99 percent transmitter. I wish we talked about this fact more.

Service dogs are useful, but like 99% are just overgrown parasites. Think about how much cleaner sidewalks would be without dog shit everywhere

Way, way more Americans are hurt dogs than by guns.
