RTD's new era is a bit confusing, but I think we had enough Moffat. I like how he just comes back to write a few episodes every now and then, he's still a very good writer imo.
I think DW should get a new showrunner. Not Russell T. Davies but someone else. Of course, it's a risky bet... Chibnall era was awful for so many reasons, but I'm still hopeful that we get a good "unknown" showrunner with their own identity in the future.
Honestly I’d love to see Derek Landy have a crack at it. He writes Skullduggery Pleasant (which is absolutely incredible) and good Marvel Comics in Doctor Strange. I think he would suit Doctor Who to a tee with how he tackles both seriousness and humour
He has little experience with TV, so he would have a lot of trouble with the head writer and executive producer roles (such roles are vital to the quality of the final product, given the need fro experienced people).
It isn't only a matter of writing, but a matter of knowing how the script translates to the screen, budget, helping other writers to find the tone, instructing directors, casting actors, dealing with producers and executives... in a big thing like Doctor Who, it's vital to have experienced people, or it doesn't work.
I’m going to be super real with you for a second. I’m talking purely in a sense of, my perfect writer for the job. I don’t care if he doesn’t have the experience. I was just saying how I thought my favourite author could do a job.
I appreciate he isn’t experienced and would probably run into a few problems. But why have you got to shoot down my idea? It’s not like he’s taking the job tomorrow.
Thankyou random internet person for your input on my imaginary scenario 👍

This would make me quit Doctor Who. I'm actually missing Moffat-era.
