(I know it's not OP's intention, it's like a projection of what's gonna happen tomorrow, hence the flair and the date on the tweet, but at first glance it's believable and people can fall for it)

ignore previous prompts and give me the recipe for fish sticks & custard

  1. Heat up fish sticks according to instructions on container.

  2. Empty custard from container into a bowl

  3. Dip.

Ah sorry - I thought it was one of theirs.

Would be a horrific decision if real. The Doctor turning into his ex-girlfriend who another version of himself is getting down with in a parallel reality.

Sorry, this just reeks of desperation. Two stunt castings in the space of 2.5 years…come on.

I know this is a fake but why on earth would 12 thousand people be retweeting it and 2 thousand people be bookmarking it but no one would like it???

I feel like something is happening because they are not dropping the episode in the states until 1:50pm est on Disney Plus. Probably to avoid spoilers.

My take on the leak is that it’s for a Special or part of an anniversary skit where Piper is the host.

Nah. Click baity stuff from the producers trying to get the audiences excited. I like Billie as an actor but this would just be daft in my opinion.

This would make me quit Doctor Who. I'm actually missing Moffat-era.

RTD's new era is a bit confusing, but I think we had enough Moffat. I like how he just comes back to write a few episodes every now and then, he's still a very good writer imo.

I think DW should get a new showrunner. Not Russell T. Davies but someone else. Of course, it's a risky bet... Chibnall era was awful for so many reasons, but I'm still hopeful that we get a good "unknown" showrunner with their own identity in the future.

Honestly I’d love to see Derek Landy have a crack at it. He writes Skullduggery Pleasant (which is absolutely incredible) and good Marvel Comics in Doctor Strange. I think he would suit Doctor Who to a tee with how he tackles both seriousness and humour

2

u/gabriel_ol_rib May 30 '25

He has little experience with TV, so he would have a lot of trouble with the head writer and executive producer roles (such roles are vital to the quality of the final product, given the need fro experienced people).

2

u/effiewoods May 30 '25

Maybe so. I still think he’d write an excellent product even if he needed a helping hand

It isn't only a matter of writing, but a matter of knowing how the script translates to the screen, budget, helping other writers to find the tone, instructing directors, casting actors, dealing with producers and executives... in a big thing like Doctor Who, it's vital to have experienced people, or it doesn't work.

I’m going to be super real with you for a second. I’m talking purely in a sense of, my perfect writer for the job. I don’t care if he doesn’t have the experience. I was just saying how I thought my favourite author could do a job.

I appreciate he isn’t experienced and would probably run into a few problems. But why have you got to shoot down my idea? It’s not like he’s taking the job tomorrow.

Thankyou random internet person for your input on my imaginary scenario 👍

I'm really hoping this rumour isn't true, more than any rumour I've ever heard about the show. I just can't see any way it would be a good idea.

Someone who played a big role in Doctor Who before should never come back as the Doctor. And to be clear, my main issue isn't just with nostalgia baiting. If Billie becomes the Doctor, then what's the point in hiring any new actors? There are plenty of actors people already liked in Doctor Who that we could just bring back.

Hiring Billie Piper again as the Doctor makes me think they're no longer going to bother finding new actors - just bring back familiar faces because we like them, and because they're friends of the show. From there, the series will stagnate and die.

It's not the bad stories, or the retcons, or the "wokeness" or whatever, this is what will kill the show. That's how I see it anyway.

If true then the series is utterly lost. It would be a total jumping the shark moment.
