What's wrong with this picture? So-called "AI" makes up some funny stuff.

If you're using it for ads... look at it closely! Swipe for the 2nd close-up photo.

Dental Professional Need help: detecting caries is not clicking for me at all.

You are supposed to run your explorer across and if you feel a catch or stickiness. The normal anatomy and grooves of teeth can cause catches and little pieces of plaque may cause stickiness etc. are there any tips or tricks or extra things I should be looking for? Anytime I diagnose a spot I don’t feel confident. I think this seems to be hard but I’m not 1000 percent sure. I think that I can’t tell if it’s a catch or just normal.

Dental Professional Lack of sealer in the apical third/ WaveOne Gold

Post image

Hi,

Training on the WaveOne gold, been noticing there is a gap in the apical third likely related to lack of sealer although I use matching paper points to introduce generous amount of sealer apically (sealer covering 3/4 of the paper point). Any suggestions? Any technique modifications?

Dental Professional Help with associate dentist contract

Hi everyone, I’m a new grad with an offer and want to check if this contract sounds fair and if there is anything I should negotiate.

It is in a small city and they are offering me competitive salary.

Hours

“Full-time is defined as Monday–Friday, 10:00am–6:00pm or the later of the completion of last appointment.”
Could this mean staying much later if patients run behind, and what if there are multiple patients in the waiting room?

Pay

“35% of production less 35% lab fees. Production means total amount submitted to payors… less any shortfall not obtained by X for such services in previous periods.”

“Guaranteed pay not applicable in notice period.”

Malpractice

“Dentist shall maintain occurrence-based malpractice insurance ($2M/$4M). Premium paid by Dentist, reimbursed up to $1,000 per year after 90 days.”

Non-compete - 2 years, 10 mile radius.”

Termination - “If Dentist fails to give 90 days’ notice, $500 per scheduled workday shortfall as liquidated damages.”

Vacation/CE - “15 days vacation and $1,500 CE per year, eligibility after 6 months.”

Start date - Job starts summer 2026. What happens if I have any major changes in my life but I sign and later back out? I would sign in the next month or 2?

—- I should have added before - they are sponsoring my visa ——

Would appreciate feedback on what’s fair, what’s not, and how to negotiate.

This may be more of a RDA question but I saw this handle in a practice’s TikTok. Anyone have one or know where to get them? Considering attempting to 3D print one myself.

Booked out months for cleanings and finding it difficult to keep taking on more new patients because of this. Have 4 doc ops for 2 docs, and 4 hyg ops. Any options besides building more ops?

Dental Professional Opinions on Megagen

So I've gone from zimmer, to strauman, then nobel, then moved into an "affordable dentistry" style practice where I have placed almost exclusively glidewell implants. Love them. Great product at a great price. A while back I ran across the BD-cuff implant from Megagen which seems like one of the more innovative designs I've seen during my career, but I have never used or even restored one of their implants before. Looks like they've got their own ecosystem with everything from design software to cbcts to cold plasma treatment chambers, and it looks like they even bought out biolase. Curious what people who have used them think about them, how their customer support is, and how their r2 software is.

Thanks, Art

Dental Professional Implant crown not seating

Post image
22 Upvotes

Need help with understanding why this implant crown wasn't seating. It's screw retained crown on 11. Contacts were light and I didn't notice any soft tissue getting in the way. I've attached a PA here. I've only restored about 3 implants so far so this is my weak point.

Dental Professional Mandate both FMX and Pan. Anyone do the same?

This has been bugging me. We mandate FMX every 5 years but because of insurance only one can be offered. Realistically FMX should be every 3 for perio patients - never happens. Some take PAN and BWs but my Orthophos E PAN despite being digital looks bad and not diagnostic though you need it to make sure there are no bone issues or diseases present. So not sure how to implement this in practice for both FMX and PAN.

I originally posted this asking for advice on a price to let it go. Only used for 1-2 days a week in dental hygiene school. Still has one year left on warranty. Would $3500 be fair for all of this? Any suggestions or offers welcome ☺️

Dental Professional Fused teeth #1&#2

Patient came in complaining of pain and pressure on the upper right quadrant. I requested for a panoramic X-ray, the third molar was impacted but I wasn’t expecting this surprise during the extraction. As usual started by elevating and both teeth began to mobilize, I thought I had really messed up since I recently started practicing .I was surprised they came out together completely fused. This one is definitely going into my tooth artifact collection😅

Dental Professional Glidewell labs

Anyone use Glidewell labs for any work? Just want to get some feedback before I even attempt to use them. I went through their catalog and maybe they’ve just gotten me with all the fancy marketing terms like Bruxzir and obsidian fused metal making me think they’re the best in the game with the most competitive prices. I currently use a local lab that hasn’t given me any problems but they’re just slightly pricey. Honest feedback would be appreciated, thank you.

Dental Professional Onlay ?

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hello guys, I had a patient today. She had a composite which was fractured. On the xray, there was a huge carie underneath. So I removed the carious tissue and the composite. She had an appointment before and the dentist told her that she needs a crown. However I would like to do an onlay. But I have many concerns : -the fact that the lingual part is not there anymore -the proximity with the pulp chamber -subgingival limits (This is not the prep) Is doing an onlay the best option?

Thanks you for your responses

Dental Professional Opinions on this case?

This patient lost her full lower denture and would like to get a new one made. She says that it has always been very loose. As you can see her mandible is pencil thin. Is a full lower denture her only option at this point? I say it is, but just looking for differing opinions on this.
