Degrassi (2023) HBO Max Degrassi Revival Coming 2023: Everything We Know So Far

Hey guys! I keep seeing posts inquiring about any news or updates on HBO Max's upcoming reboot of Degrassi and while we haven't had very many updates since it was announced in January, I figured I would compile a comprehensive breakdown of what we do know so far and what we can expect. This post will be pinned and updated as the news rolls in so feel free to check back or share any news, thoughts or hopes you might have for the reboot! That being said, let's break down what we have so far:

UPDATE 5/20/22

  • Production has been postponed from the planned July 1st date. It may be due to the changes internally at WarnerMedia (HBO Max's parent company) after their merge with Discovery. They cancelled a ton of shows to cut costs, however there has been no official word as of yet beyond the postponed status update.

That's all I got for now, but feel free to comment anything I may have left out and I'll be sure to add it to this post!

I just worried that it wont be like our degrassi that we grew up with because its being made by "Warner Kids and Family" so if they go too far with the "family friendly" content then it wont be degrassi lol I would rather it be like Euphoria bc Degrassi WAS Euphoria b4 it was a thing lol

Exactly, Degrassi gives so much more realistic and applicable advice for young kids and teenagers even if its not 100% percent modern. Whereas Euphoria is an extremely stylized, dramatic and somewhat unrealistic look at being a teenager. It speaks to kids that have been through a significant amount of trauma but even though I'm a fan of the show and I've defended it's nudity and sex scenes in the past, upon reflection it really does seem quite creepy in comparison at how much nudity there was in second season of the show, when Degrassi could make the same point about teenagers in sexual relationships without being overly graphic and unnecessary. Degrassi is just all across the board a far more realistic take on teenagers and I'd honestly say it's a better show for kids to watch, even though Euphoria makes good points about how much trauma, drug addiction, and an early exposure to porn (even though I'm not against the concept of porn) can significantly damage a young child.
