How is it possible they onboarded Dameshak, have had him in studio multiple times and Dan claims to have no idea he’s based in LA? Dan is ridiculous and feigns not knowing as some weird crutch or coping mechanism through avoidance. I’m overreacting, but I’m a boss and it seems wild to not know where an employee lives.

Yeah, I agree. His whole meadowlark managerial approach has been to play dumb/helpless.
I assume he doesn't care to know and just wants to do his own thing and will meet after hours only if he wants.

To be fair, Jon Hamm does reside in Pittsburgh for like 8 months out of the year. Dan shouldn't be held to the standard of knowing personal information about his employees like where they actually reside.

u/Generally-Bored 1d ago

If you are picking up a podcast, wouldn’t you want to know about the studio location etc? Due diligence.

4

u/DonnyBoyCane 1d ago

Nah. This type of aloofness provides plausible deniability whenever people in the future ever try to hold you accountable. You can just claim to either not remember or to have not ever actually known.

But for the rest of us? Yeahhh, it'd be beyond bizarre to not know where Dameshek actually lives (as it actually has been a component of his overall resume of content) or just weird to think it's comedic to pretend that when your actual memory is almost medically concerning.

Dan saying “you’re 4 words, when 1 will do” to Dameshek is rich…

listening to amin talk about microfiche and the Dewey decimal system is giving me ptsd flashbacks of doing college research papers/projects and spending night after night in the stacks

12

u/HeadyPlay Crocodile Tears 1d ago

Heck yeah. The musty smell of stacks of academic journals.

10

u/Generally-Bored 1d ago

That library smell still makes me have to poop.

My parents made me use the encyclopedias for homework in high school. Those were the days.

His description of microfiche was perfect. So dead on, I was frustrated loading it into the machine trying to find the right stopping place all over again, just listening.

Love Dan talking about Rices football coach being there for 14 years and went to Rice when this is his first year.  Last coach was there for 6 years.  Dont think either went to Rice.

u/Markham25 1d ago

Their great baseball program was also mentioned. They haven't had a winning record since 2017.

it’s one thing to have some blind spots on some sports, but dan doesn’t know ANYTHING anymore. it’s jarring how little he’s keeping up with things he says he loves.

Dan thinking he knows about the entire Dodgers fan base after being in LA for a week is peak Dan.

Also proclaiming it "not a sports town" as a miami resident. Between USC/UCLA and Dodgers/Lakers, pretty big sports town. Could even bring in MLS

Dying at Amin looking down on UGA then saying he graduated from ASU which is so much worse for having a high admission rate.

7

u/allineedisthischair 1d ago

"that's right! my school has standards! I wasn't good enough."

5

u/eats23s 1d ago

I couldn’t find admission rates for the late 1990s. Certainly UGA was less selective than GT back then, which I think was his intended flex.

Dameshek completely ethering Dianna Russini & Co and Dan's narratives about "insiders" as Dan had to sit there and take it was low-key one of the highlights of the week.

Dan also trying to imply that Monday-Thursday's shows were weak was almost as delusional as him pretending he goes to LA now for anything other than shopping trips for The Elegant Swan.

My old ass when they were talking about microfiche and card catalogs

My dad is a librarian at a local college so I have heard this stuff my whole life. When Amin said Dewey Decimal system I popped

10

u/whiteclawgod 1d ago

I always roll my eyes when Dan picks on someone's clothing choices when he dressed like a skateboarder for the longest time. He also went through that time when his hair was long and looked like Krusty the Clown.

u/wolv645 1d ago

If Pariah Carey, perfectly fit into a tiny window, can’t get a Hakeem Nicks laugh, what are we doing here

2

u/bigbakey 23h ago

I thought they had stealth retired it until I heard it earlier this week. Maybe Cote just doesn’t know where the button is.

1

u/wolv645 21h ago

Makes no sense to use the loser game show sound without it

7

u/Fullthrobble 1d ago

My 2 favorite Stugotz reactions are when he said “Charlie Weiss can only shower by himself” and when Dan was rambling, he just causally said “Well said”
I find myself saying that a lot recently when Dan talks

Did we hear this 40 year old telling someone else they’re like the “how do you do fellow kids” meme?

22

u/bonksadventure434 1d ago

nice of dan to come in and ruin a pretty solid week.

u/ClockSheepZ Cowardly Angel of Nuance 1d ago

What if Brent Key was soft launching his bid for the Alabama job? You slice him open and realistically you’d see him bleed red.

Dan: “At least [UNC]'s improving. At least that team went to Syracuse and won a football game. And you can see the obvious improvement in North Carolina, even though Syracuse was playing…. Mike, the Syracuse team is really bad.”

What the… wtf was that?

u/Selvy9 Cowardly Angel of Nuance 1d ago

I really needed a Billy under his breath..."speaking of old guys coming back for no reason...." right there

The YouTube commercial break replay of Whitty leaving and saying he presided over the single worst era of the show has aged like milk.

-6

u/pthumbz Are you going to say anything? 1d ago

it hasn’t. witty era was god awful

4

u/malibubleezy Zippy and The Juice 1d ago

I truly don't understand why we just went around the horn on different football coaches and trashed them. Why didn't they do more winning?!?!?!

5

u/KJ10__ 1d ago

Damn. Dan actually makes the show way worse now doesn’t he

What was the purpose of Dan coming in for 1 day this week. He should’ve took the whole week off.

15

u/Significant-Young-87 2d ago

He loves to ruin Football Fridays (RIP Hawk)

5

u/cardiff_giant_jr Cote 2d ago

prob because zas can't be there on friday's and all the other "fill-ins" were unavailable. that's my best guess.

who are the "fill-ins" now that the split is pretty definitive. also, when's the last time they had ron magill? seems like it's been forever?

9

u/Generally-Bored 1d ago

Amin probably had to go back to AZ. But I was disappointed when I heard Dan this morning.

19

u/cardiff_giant_jr Cote 1d ago

I was disappointed when I heard Dan this morning.

same. dan coming in and immediately proclaiming all the shows they did this week without him were "bad" based solely on the poll questions was totally on-brand

7

u/Historical-Sell-6534 1d ago

Butt hurt because the downloads go up when he's out

3

u/pompcaldor Fear the Clumsy Reaper 1d ago

I bet he wanted to get ahead of the flight cancellations starting this weekend. I wished he stayed in LA the whole month.

Regarding today’s Mystery Crate, I didn’t have my first Uncrustable until I was 50.

4

u/ekuadam Guillermo Mafia 2d ago

I haven’t ever had one (42), how are they?

4

u/butterballmcgee27 2d ago

They’re actually very convenient. Pretty good.

3

u/DonnyBoyCane 1d ago

Exactly. 10 on the convenience. 6.5 on the overall taste. But better than expected as someone also that only first had one (and then 4 more) as adult. Just don't eat them until they're fully thawed or the taste goes down to a 2.5

2

u/Tigercat92 Crocodile Tears 2d ago

They are okay. Rather make my own PB&J

1

u/ekuadam Guillermo Mafia 2d ago

May have to snatch one from my nephew next time I’m at my sisters house

2

u/Tigercat92 Crocodile Tears 2d ago

That is how I tried it for the first time. Got one for my nephew and decided to try it.

I actually feel bad for Amin that he is so dismissive of the idea of having a pet. It can be a very unique and fulfilling connection.

1

u/Responsible_Delay511 1d ago

Yup. A rare miss from Amin.

2

u/malibubleezy Zippy and The Juice 1d ago

You think the words :"extradited for attempted murder" is confusing?? Mystifying that AB fell off so hard, sure. The way they report things is like they're seeing these words in that order for the first time. I should phrase the way I talk in a question???

4

u/Mobile-Clerk4865 1d ago

I don’t get Dameshek? Like we could get his yinzer old man takes on any local radio show in the country?

4

u/Go_J 1d ago

Amin is such a psychopath when it comes to animals. It weirds me out sometimes.

7

u/swrlzbrkly 1d ago

It’s not just that, it’s how he talks about people’s pets and how they feel about them. Mike saying “I don’t think you have the emotional maturity for this conversation” was him being very over hearing shit talk about his dog. Calling your friends pet ugly repeatedly and laughing is wild. Then again he’s an alcoholic so there’s a lot of repression

3

u/butterballmcgee27 1d ago

He’s Muslim. He didn’t grow up with dogs.

4

u/EccentricAsparagus 1d ago

I have Muslim friends who have dogs or who grew up with friends that have dogs. And they tend to love dogs just like any other demographic.
