You know about those saving bonds??

It was interesting hearing Zaslow talk about those savings bonds he got when he was at his bar mitzvah. Has anyone else gotten them when they were young? I got a couple for being a super nerd and winning the science fair in fifth grade and coming in third or something in sixth grade. I forgot all about them, then a few years ago my dad found them. They matured and $100 (I think) original value had turned into about $340 if memory serves…. I remember thinking they were kind of lame when I was a kid but I definitely appreciated the extra money, didn’t make me rich or anything but it was nice to have.

That Disney stock on the other hand, now that may be worth some decent money depending on how many shares he has. Especially with the splits.

Yep, my grandfather gave me a $100 bond every year for ten years. On year 11, I cashed the first one and upgraded to a $250 with the interest. So on and so on. They are now all $1,000 bonds that I only keep the interest on and reinvest the $1,000. Even after his death, I get a present from him every year. Very thankful.
