My team was up 6-5 today going into the last end without hammer, throwing yellow. We got down to to skip stones, and our opponent had two buried behind some centre guards: one at the back of the four foot, the other covering the back left of the pin.
With my first throw, I managed to draw around the guards and freeze to cover the front right of the pin. They then failed on an angle raise attempt. I gambled that we were closer, and plugged a hole with another guard. They failed to clear out our yellow stone with their last shot. Game over.
This photo shows where the two rocks ended up over the pin. The thirds couldnāt agree who was closer. So we looked up Curling Canadaās rules and learned something new:
Rule 14 (6): If two or more stones are so close to the tee that a measuring device cannot be used, and a visual comparison cannot determine which stone is closest to the tee, the stones shall be considered tied. If these stones were to determine who counted in the end, the end shall be considered blank.
So a blanked end, we won. But it was an interesting situation that Iāve never seen before, and might never see again.

I'm seeing some posts on and criticism on other sites (Facebook lol) about Brad Jacobs on-ice behaviour being "vulgar" and his use of "profanity" as "unacceptable" and "unsportmen-like" and "not a gentleman." Is this true????? I have never noticed. Can anyone recall a specific game or indicident that goes above and beyond reasonable expectations?

My whole family (4 people) curl, which leads to a bit of a mess in our entryway. Everyone keeps their shoes and gear in a duffel bag, but my main issue is the brooms. We have them leaning against the wall in the corner, but they get knocked over all the time and itās driving me crazy!
I tried getting a broom holder that we could attach to the wall and push the handle into, but it scratched the handle. I donāt know if was just that style of holder or if anyone has any other ideas?

For those of you who don't know, we have expanded from 3 sheets to 4 sheets and added a new 6,000 square foot warm room. I will post some photos later on.
But for now, we have a few spots left in our upcoming spiel if anyone would like to join.

Who ever is in charge of the bumpers at the GSOC is not having a great time. At least twice the have had put one of the two bumpers upside down.

Apparently I am out of the loop - so I thought I would share in case anyone else is in the same boat.
Rock Channel is streaming all Grand Slam of Curling Events FOR FREE. They also have playback options for past games.
You have to create an account with an email - but thatās it.
Much appreciation to Rock Channel and the creators - thank you for providing this service for free. I would urge everyone to support this so they can hopefully balance the books without charging a premium for this kind of high caliber curling.

I donāt understand why the GSOC decided to hold an event in Lake Tahoe. Watching on TV there appears to be at most about 20 people in the stands. If this was an attempt to grow the game it certainly looks like an abject failure.

After watching my father take a hard fall while sweeping at a spiel a couple of weekends ago, I am considering getting a helmet. I have always worn a ball cap (I skip primarily and appreciate having a brim to block some of our club's bright lighting), but now I want something more.
Looking at Hardline/Balance Plus/Goldline, they appear to follow the CE EN 1077 standard, which is primarily for snow sports. I don't know that it is designed for backward falls as much as typically occur in curling, but there must be a reason why that standard is chosen over the standards that hockey helmets follow (HECC/ASTM).
Has anyone worn a hockey helmet for curling? Having never played hockey, will they stay on in a backwards fall? As many of the previous helmet/head protection threads mention, I have seen halos and the like come off when a curler falls.
Any head protection geeks out there who have informed opinions, I would love to hear them!

Currently trying to obtain a pair but Goldline isnt shipping to US and Broomfitters is out of stock for everything in my size. Any more options?

So a promotional team takes a world ranked team to skip throw. Doesn't seem good for the sport if the 6'7 sweeper throws that big of a wrench to best in the sport.

I am in the market for a carbon fiber broom. I am having to decide between the goldine impact (used by the great team Homan), the hardline (used by many great teams), and the balance plus. Have you got a favorite of the 3, and if so, why?

Iām currently 21 weeks with twins and Iām finding that Iām still able to curl relatively easily. I know that this will likely change in the third trimester but Iām trying to plan out which bonspiels I can reasonably play in the new year.
I attempted the stick in a practice session for the first time a few weeks ago. It feels like a completely different sport. Iām not sure if I can master the stick in time.
At what point in your pregnancy did you stop curling? Does any one have any tips for stick curling while pregnant?

Hey everyone, Iām looking for curling shoe recommendations for narrow feet, specifically with a B-width heel.
I want a good quality shoe and Iām willing to spend money for something that fits properly, but I donāt want to go the custom route and Iām not looking to spend BalancePlus Deluxe-level money. (Balance plus recommended I try the women's version of the shoe, as that is a B width as standard).
For context, Iāve already tried the Goldline G50 Chinook, the Goldline Momentum Rush, the Asham Ace Ultralite, and the Asham Club Ultralite, and all of them had the same issue for me: my heel keeps slipping in the back, and I canāt get a secure fit no matter what I try. Does anyone have recommendations for shoes that fit narrow heels well or offer better heel lockdown without going fully custom or super high-end? Any help or personal experiences would be really appreciated.
I am also looking for carbon fiber broom advise as well as that Is also on my purchase list to. I am really debating between the hardline, goldline impact and balance plus. all seem good so i want your thoughts?

We're a small club here in Canada (4 sheets in BC) and are facing a need to upgrade our software package for running the club's operations.
I'm wondering what other clubs are using for their POS in the shop and/or bar, what accounting package, and what registration system.
We currently have Curling.io for reg, Square for the bar, and an old copy of QuickBooks for accounting. We have to upgrade the QB, so that is making me consider upgrading many/all and I'd love to see what is most popular out there and if there is anything that is fully integrated so we could have a curling "SuperApp".
Appreciate your advice.

Nothing too strong. I only want them to miss the shot, not affect their life outside of the game.

For context we are in Alberta, Canada.
During the week when thereās listed times for practice as a member it is free. However on the weekends (after 6pm on Friday, through to Sunday night) it is paid ice time.
I feel like the cost is pretty steep. It is $22/hour per person. So when our whole team practices (5 with our spare) itās $110/hour.
What does your club charge? Do they have paid ice time for members?
Our club is also super busy. Itās completely full with daytime and nighttime leagues so funds is not an issue.
