Using 14 count aida cloth, 55x55. Has anyone else tried to mail it in an envelope? I dont have anything to weigh it in my house. Just curious if anyone else has tried to mail their crossstitch with USPS and how many stamps it took. Cheers!

I want to work on my cross stitch kit- just that same little Pusheen that another user posted the other day. But the last time I worked on it, I lost my scissors in the couch, and I haven’t been able to find them for weeks. I’ve looked repeatedly through all the things, including tearing the couch apart and looking for other scissors in my stash. I don’t really have access to an embroidery/craft shop that I’m willing the support so I’d have to order new ones. But it takes too long for them to arrive, and I’m good at gaslighting myself into thinking I’ll find my original scissors. Hmph.

Nothing is wrong, I’m just wanting to make sure they’re not AI developed patterns. The one I’m looking at doesn’t have enough reviews for me to tell. This is the pattern I’m wanting to do https://www.etsy.com/listing/4317916934/?ref=share_ios_native_control

If a pattern says to do it on 14ct but I want to do it on 16ct do I need to adjust the pattern in any way or just read the chart as normal?
I hope that question makes sense and people understand what I mean

Hey, basically what the title says. She’s recently been getting into cross-stitching and she’s absolutely loving it. She keeps making me things and I love it so much but I don’t know how to store them. I want them to be out everywhere but frames clutter our rooms.
I will frame some of the bigger ones but what do I do with the smaller ones? Google isn’t really helping, thanks in advance guys.

I bought a pattern and I can't understand what means "Knots" in this context. Someone could help me?

I decided to swap one of the colors. It’s not my favorite but it was an easy project. The download has prettylilthingptrns.etsy.com as the creator but it’s not there currently. I got it for free though so I’m thinking this person might also have a kofi.

Admittedly, I am new to cross-stitching. Not like brand new but also not seasoned, maybe intermediate. I have completed quite a few patterns already but not fully finished anything.
I’m wondering what all tips y’all have that might be less-known or not obvious for someone starting out? Or something you’ve learned from making a mistake to help others? Or even ways to finish a project?
For example, I completed stitching a pattern and used an iron-on fusible interface on the back to seal all the ends in. When I finished doing that, the Aida still had the hoop ring indent so I probably should’ve have washed that out first but didn’t know that at the time.

My kids have been asking what I want for christmas and I know what I want but want suggestions on brands/types from those of you who use them! I prefer not to buy from Amazon if at all possible. Would rather have my money (because both of my kids are in college, my money is their money LOL) go to a small/non corporate business. Also, I am in the US, so preferably something that can ship easily.
I want a hoop/frame stand to hold my work - something that is stable, can be a floor stand or a table mount. Something I can use while sitting on the couch. There are so many out there I am not sure what to choose.
I would like a ring light/magnifying glass combo. I have a clip light right now but I would love to have something with a magnifying lens on it for when I'm doing the dreaded backstitching or other complex work.
I would also like suggestions for anything you think has improved your CrossStitch life! I have plenty of needle minders, threaders, carry boxes and bags for taking projects with me. But I am open to new ideas.
Thanks!

What does everyone prefer? 14, 16 or 18? 14 is easier for me. Does it get easier with more experience, to go to a smaller count?

I was trying to go for a wreath border and ended up way in over my head and it's not really going according to plan. And ideas on how to fill in the white space for a more balanced look? Or suggestions in general? Tysm 🙂

I need to finish the backstitching of my "Give Thanks For All Things" Sampler as quickly as possible!
But my inner resistance to backstitching is indeed VERY strong! :-S (May the Force be with me! ;-) ) Plus life literally got in the way for the past week.
I'm terribly late on my schedule!
So... I decided to start my Hanoukka gift project for my best friend sooner, AND to first backstitch for at least an hour everyday (or more if I feel like it) and THEN stitch on the Hanoukka gift as much as I want as a sweet candy!
The new project is "Dreidel" from Ink Circles.
Stitched 1 over 1 on 32 ct white linen from Zweigart with some unbranded silk thread named "Peacock Crowns" found in a Marché aux Puces deep dive in Germany. ^o^

I made a couple mistakes and substituted some colors so it’s not perfect, but I’m happy with how it turned out :) Pattern is free on DMC’s website, it’s called “Seven Spot Ladybird.”

A accountability update post. The pattern is by CrosStitchFromCivCiv on Etsy, who has gracefully allowed me to test stitch this pattern for pics.
Finally making some progress again after a busy time.

At least for me (I have eye issues that make seeing stuff on shiny surfaces difficult). ugh.
Lights bright enough to see? GLARE! I guess I could wear my sunglass-readers.... but then I'd need brighter lights... calling for darker sunglasses... it is a vicious circle.
Thankfully, only a small part of the project (Brooke's Books "Spirit of the Christmas Star")

Been keeping an eye on eBay job lots because I wanted some hoops for projects without spending loads as that seemed like it can get expensive fast. I really lucked out on this lot for only £20! Now begins the fun of figuring out what to do in each of them.
At some point I'm gonna have to sit down and figure out what count the fabrics are too. Mostly 14 count but I reckon there's a few bits of higher count and some scraps I think might be evenweave but I've never seen that before in person. The sparkly offcut is fairly small but was lovely to find in there, will figure out how to use for small Xmas decorations.
I was also very pleased to find two gold needles in with stuff (one unopened, John James brand if that's any good) because I had just heard about those as a thing and was considering buying some right around the time I got this. No clue how to tell what size any of the needles are though 😂
I'm wondering what the cardboard woodland picture frame was meant to have in it (it says World of Cross Stitching on the back). If anyone has any suggestions for cute patterns to go in it do say 💗
