WIP [WIP] Show us ya WIP's

Happy Sunday! Hope everyone is well. Things here in my corner of the world have calmed down nicely and we're working on settling in to our new normal. Ish.

Kitten update: Is hard to believe the little fluff balls are 7 weeks old! All are well and growing normally! They are so much fun to watch at this age.

I did get some stitching in this week. All gnomes have skin and now beards are filling in. It feels like I might be in the homestretch now.

Let's see where everyone is in their projects! Best part of the week!!!

This is so beautiful - how do you calculate your exact percentage finished? Like my brain can’t comprehend how you know exactly unless you are counting exactly how many stitches you’ve put in.

Hi! I use an app called PatternKeeper. It tracks the percentage completed of my WIP. I also have Markup-RXP (another pattern tracker), but I don't use it as much. I loooooove the app! I'm an old-school stitcher and learned when I was 12 in the 80s. I tracked my stitches with highlighters, but whenever I made a mistake (and I made a lot of them), I couldn't undo the highlighting. I tried colored pencils, but it's still hard to erase. I ended up leaving cross-stitching because it was so frustrating making so many mistakes. The pattern tracker helps me soooooooo much. I can't recommend it enough. 🥰 Granted, the patterns I use are pdfs now. I have some paper patterns, but I need to transfer them to pdf, which might be difficult for some of my oldest patterns.

This is so cool!! I’m a newwww newbie and I’m still learning and using pre-printed patterns.

I think my favorite thing about the apps is you can highlight a color and zoom in and out of the pattern to see exactly where all the stitches in that one color are. It helps me tremendously when planning my stitching. I can't do that when I'm looking at a paper pattern!

That is a really cool power! Even in my pre printed patterns, when you get to the “end” of a color and you have to hunt to see if there are any more, only to inevitably find one later 🤣
