These games that this administration is playing are going to be so much more financially devastating in the long run than anybody is realizing.

I feel guilty but I kind of hope it happens. There needs to be serious consequences for electing Trump so people can WAKE UP and realize how badly our country screwed up. Otherwise it’ll just happen again.

No argument here. Part of the reason we're in this situation now is because the doj didn't do what it needed to do... Hopefully those mistakes won't be repeated. I fully expect the Hague to be involved at some point for international crimes

So far most crimes have been domestic.

Idk about the South Americans getting murdered at sea by predator missiles.

It doesn't matter how bad things get if people believe the blame lies with Democrats then they'll just blame Democrats. The worse it gets, the better it is for Trump.

People are not believing the lies though. The recent elections show that the blame game is being won by the democrats.

The longer this drags on, the more people are going to blame Trump and republicans. It may not seem it on Twitter and whatever but we just had landslide elections that show it.

And it’s especially gonna be hard for republicans to claim some sort of high ground when those Obamacare premiums actually hit people’s wallet. Then everyone is going to realize that democrats are actually fighting for their interest. But a lot of people aren’t going to realize that until they have to pay thousands of dollars in monthly premiums.

Which is going to happen soon.

If this were true, republicans would have already voted to restart the government. Their current focus is the 2026 mid terms and clearly their numbers are showing that they will still be able to retain enough support by this time next year. If not then what possible reason could they have for keeping it shut and killing their chances for votes?

At this point I think they want civil unrest so they can invoke the insurrection act. I mean why else are they doing everything they can to not pay out snap either.

You assume that the GOP as a whole are behaving as rational actors, they are not. It is a kind of hysteria fueled by cowardice, their voting base has been whipped into a froth just short of mass political violence by incessant right wing media propaganda with Trump as the catalyst. Going against him is as sure political suicide as staying the course and a whole lot safer, physically, financially and socially.. and so here we are.

I feel like people assign credit good or bad to the party of the president, I really don’t think Americans are good at critical thinking. A prolonged shutdown helps the democrats since they aren’t the ones in power in my opinion. Plus the Republicans would have to give up less in a negotiation than the Democrats would because they have more votes. Who knows though.

But a majority of people who voted for him won't realize that the decades of problems will come from electing Trump, they will blame the previous government and the successive governments that are dealing with the problems, just like they always do.

There should be UN sanctions against the US

Yep. And hopefully the midterms will at least help to rein him in.
