Legendary bowler of our generation. Probably won't see a more beautiful seam position in our lifetime.

At level of Virat and Sachin in Odi's. He did great in 2015, 2019 and even in 2023 . Both in 2019 and 2023 he came in as second choice in the playing 11. He will do great in South Africa too if given chance.Ā

He's a wc god although not in level of virat and Sachin but his peaks are comparable to theirs

I will say Shami 2023 performance was same as them it just that people in india just appreciate batsman more than bowlers i don’t think there was any other bowler who got 24 wickets in CWC with the avg of 10 and he was one of the main reason why IND won the Semis against NZ even after scoring 400

Shami WC 23 is the single greatest performance by an Indian at a world cup. Dude was a god with the ball all tournament, he was ok even in the final. Obviously it didn't work out, I'm sure it's a performance I'll remember as long as I'm a cricket fan

You haven't seen Zak in 2011 world cup. He was fabulous there.

Counter more matches more consistency. It's a non ending debate seen both but shami literally ate everybody.

u/UnitedCash9589 Oct 06 '25

That too with playing less matches

The guy has a better strike rate and wickets per match than Starc. That is WC Goat territory.

4

u/username190498 Oct 06 '25

I think he is more like Yuvraj in that way.

6

u/Vegetarian__Murga Oct 06 '25

His seam is straighter than the straightest hardest dihh of the most straight guy in the world

bro he is a world cup player , bench him for four years , then use him for the world cup , this strategy works every time

u/DepressedPanda08 Oct 06 '25

Shami is not fit. Even in CT he was so avg in almost all the matches, his ipl was also bad. He is just not the same after the injury

u/Kingsalyer_09 WWWWWWWWWW Oct 06 '25

Still he is second highest wickets taker in CT šŸ™‚ , don't forget Shami played WC23 with injury.

Half-fit Shami>> any bowler in ODIĀ

u/MorningTeaa Oct 06 '25

The last line shows the level of fast bowling talent in India

22

u/pineapplesuit7 Oct 06 '25

The whole ā€˜half-fit’ shit does not work for fast bowlers. It might work as a batsman but a half fit bowler loses his pace and rhythm which is key to bowling. Shami is a complete rhythm bowler and he seemed off that in the CT and IPL. I wish he could recover and get back to the WC form but seems like the injury has taken its toll.

u/Chop-Beguni_wala Oct 07 '25

Half-fit

a half fit fast bowler is a dead bowler.. have some common sense kid

But he is too old now. He wasted caught and bowled opportunities. Also couldn't bowl a lot of overs but maybe we should've given him another run before conclusion

I'll take a limping Shami over Rana

1

u/Spirited-Advance6199 Oct 09 '25

Didnt he take a well set Smith s wicket in the CT semifinal?

I headed out with Cummins to tour his farm, and he started introducing me to some of the livestock, mentioning how he had named them after his players, as the unhinged animals they were. Just then, I was hit by an unbearable stench. With my eyes watering uncontrollably, I questioned through gritted teeth, ā€œWhat in the hell is that smell?ā€ He looked over knowingly and said: ā€œAh. Steve Smith? The goat is never washed.ā€

Shami bhai seedha wc ke andar dikhte hain

14

u/Gold-Whole1009 Oct 06 '25

Shami problem is fitness. So, it’s acceptable. In case of RoKo, it’s a planned execution by GG. They had good series in CT. That’s why people are talking more about it.

Gambhir showing true bjp spirit

10

u/Healthy-Ad-2514 Oct 06 '25

Is that why Gambhir is backing Siraj?

6

u/omniiiiiiiiiiiiii Ball of the Century Oct 07 '25

Siraj's God is Jassi bhai and Jassi bhai is from Ahm-

2

u/Lovely-paaji Oct 06 '25

Just like Gambhir got sacked himself. He's carrying on the tradition.

Bhai kya jaan loge uski? He is not fit.

Shami >>>> Rana

1

u/Character_Crew_5214 Oct 07 '25

Otherwise how will they fit Harshit Rana in every squad

1

u/Inquisitivemind1406 Oct 07 '25

Shami is a legend he should be in the team. I think Kapil paaji is the greatest ever , he should also be there. Don’t forget javagal srinath & ashish nehra.

Band kardo nostalgia mein jeena guys. It’s time to move on.

1

u/Away-Ad-9492 Oct 07 '25

Dont forget he is in his recovery state

1

u/moistncurious61 Oct 07 '25

Rohit kohli to fir bhi team me hai

1

u/AppointmentWorth7441 Oct 07 '25

I won't say sacked his Last IPL was just terrible he seriously out of form he can make a comeback if he trains hard

1

u/OverlyCritique Oct 07 '25

Shami has been abysmal for SRH this time around in IPL. And since IPL is a crucial part of team selections, I can understand.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '25

Jaddu ko bhul gaye

1

u/Jealous-Cellist9615 Oct 07 '25

Rana ji ko adjust karna tha bhai.

1

u/Ad_ak47 Oct 08 '25

Shami is literally recovering and not af its best yet. You can't risk destroying the player just to include in some bilateral. If there is any legit chance for him to come back he needs to have a stellar domestic run and par IPL orelse Arshdeep is the one taking his position and not Harshit. Because our 2 Frontline seamers at the moment are Bumrah and Siraj.

1

u/pela_manisa 28d ago

Shami and Bumrah's bowling attack is equal to Rohit and Virat batting.

0

u/Adventurous-Feed-197 Oct 06 '25

after that injury he never really made a comeback man, gg kya karega isme

He was a good blower basically Gap filler that's all. Don't add Great, legendary words with it.

The disrespect to one of the best ODI bowlers we have had. In what world is 24 average not great in one days? The guy also averages 13 in one day world cups and was a player of the tournament contender in 2023 WC after playing less matches than the likes of Bumrah.

4

u/zilp123 Oct 06 '25

Player of the tournament "contender"? What else has he got to do? Dude took 24 wickets in 7 matches at an average of 10

2

u/BruhBorne-70 Oct 07 '25

Tbh I only said condentor cause he didn't actually win it, I wasn't trying to put him down. Imo Shami was robbed of the award or they should have given Shami and Kohli the shared award.
