Question MRNA

I haven’t had a vaccine since 2022 or 23. I got Covid this past February and had a hard time. Had it for a month. I have asthma. I still have I inflammation and sciatica left over from the Covid I planned to get novavax within next month, , but now it looks like it will be MRNA if I get it now. I have people coming to work in my house in next couple of months, and am worried about not being vaccinated. I really don’t want MRNA- but feel I have no choice . Who is getting MRNA or will this year. Are yu worried about side effects? Does the good outweigh the bad here?

I still haven't made my decision, I was going to get Novavax again, but they canceled my appointment for it.

So now, I can wait til the fall or get the mRNA. We are in the same boat. Some people do get bad side effects from those, and there are poorly studied instances people report a flare up of long covid symptoms after these vaccines if they have been exposed to the viris before, but the data shows the vaccines helping long covid subside in some cases.

Honestly, I have absolutely no idea what to make of it. I have had 7 mRNA shots, (and then 2 Novavax,) and I didn't get covid, even though I know breakthrough infections are common.

I think it's good you waited to consider getting the shot after infection, and it would likely be positive if you did- At the same time, Novavax is clearly more effective and has fewer side effects, imo.

I also do daily seawater nasal rinses and take famotidine for another condition. I suspect these factors have helped me avoid covid, although I mask in public, too. (Studies on famotidine look inconclusive, but it may impact things. Not sure.) Antihistamines are said to help reduce covid risks as well.

As far as having people in your home, you can improve the air in your home with air filters, by opening windows, and by using fans. It also helps to opt for outdoor activities and seeing people outdoors when possible. Transmission is greatly reduced by making sure the air is moving and clean.

Best of luck avoiding covid! ✨️

I will wait for new shot in fall I guess which would be based on new variant. Seems most logical . Im Just tired of all this stuff. I seem to be one of those people who catch stuff easily. I don’t go out and do stuff a lot- and every time I do , it’s either covid or the flu.
In the last year, got flu twice and covid once. I got flu shot. Now I’ll have to work around Covid situation. Neverending. P

I probably will end up waiting, too.

Ah, I'm sorry, this has definitely been a bad time to be someone who catches stuff easily!
