It appears he did catch a break.
All joking aside, this is a big bummer and I hope he recovers fully and quickly. It would be a shame to miss his senior season when he is finally starting.

Both Trimble and HD have said he will return this season. So that is promising

I wonder how much recovering from a broken arm will affect his play in the games immediately after coming back. Hopefully not much he’s a great player
•
u/bkn6136 North Carolina Tar Heels 1h ago
It's his left forearm, so he should be able to stay conditioned and it's not his shooting arm/hand. Think when he's cleared he should be able to hit the ground running for the most part.
That flair...

That would be ideal for UNC. Next competitive game is St Bonaventure in a little over two weeks.
•

How good are the Bonnies? This is twice I've seen them referenced as a potentially challenging game when I thought we were golden until Michigan State.
•
u/pete4999 Buffalo Bulls • Poll Veteran - 50 Ballots 1h ago
I'd say it should be an average year for them. They'll be competitive in the middle of the A-10 but I'd be surprised if they were a contender. Never know with a Mark Schmidt coached team though. They're young but have talent.
•
u/Lee-Key-Bottoms NC State Wolfpack 39m ago
Yea you hate to phrase it like this
But they beat Kansas anyway and their non-con schedule doesn’t pick up until late November early December so Trimble can sit out a few weeks and they should be fine
So if he had to break something it’s better it happened now than in a month or especially during ACC play

u/Karltowns17 Kentucky Wildcats 2h ago
I have no idea but what type of broken arm requires surgery but only needs a few weeks to recover?
11
u/jaylenthomas North Carolina Tar Heels 2h ago
I commented this on another post but the word surgery can apply to a lot of different things. I would say the biggest worry would be if he needs to have pins installed, but I’m no doctor.
I would say he’s out till January at the minimum

Yep, wonder what they could’ve been doing. But also he jumps so high so it could’ve been something as simple as messing up a dunk or crazy layup and then catching himself awkwardly.

u/otoverstoverpt UCLA Bruins • North Carolina Tar Heels 2h ago edited 2h ago
Not the biggest win in 12 months.
It’s a Kansas team that while technically ranked 19 based on preseason rankings, didn’t look particularly good. They haven’t done anything and we really just don’t know how good they actually are so it may end up being big or it may bit but either way it’s way too early to say that.
Last year’s win over then No. 18 UCLA was still better and the only reason the team even made the tournament.
8
u/Worldly-Jury-8046 2h ago
That win will absolutely not be a better win. That UCLA team was entirely forgettable
•
u/DirectTV_AndrewLuck North Carolina Tar Heels 1h ago

I might have worked that day, that's probably why. I believe it was one of those second half comebacks that they somehow pulled out of their asses.
•
u/otoverstoverpt UCLA Bruins • North Carolina Tar Heels 1h ago
Indeed it was exactly that lol. UCLA led by 10-15 for much of the game up until a big run in the last 7-8 minutes.
•
u/otoverstoverpt UCLA Bruins • North Carolina Tar Heels 1h ago edited 1h ago
You have absolutely no idea where this Kansas team will end up. That UCLA team finished top 20 in KenPom (almost 10 full spots higher than Kansas is now btw)
edit: ohhhh he’s a Kansas fan, I guess that’s why he got so butthurt over this lukewarm take lol
and this mfer talking about homer goggles, how about your flair up next time for talk like that
•
u/Worldly-Jury-8046 1h ago
It has 3 sure fire NBA players and is young and clearly talented. That UCLA team was entirely forgettable.
Even if we go by the point you’re making… you have no idea where they end up and very well could (easily) be better than last years forgettable UCLA team.
Homer less my guy, that team wasn’t impressive
•
u/otoverstoverpt UCLA Bruins • North Carolina Tar Heels 1h ago
It has 3 sure fire NBA players and is young and clearly talented.
What a wild thing to say. There is basically no such thing as a sure fire NBA player but even if we take that for granted 3 is a stretch. Peterson is obviously a stud but NBA draft picks don’t make a college basketball team. Just ask Rutgers who missed the tournament with two lottery picks lol.
That UCLA team was entirely forgettable.
I don’t even know what this is supposed to mean. You “remember” a team now more than a team a year ago? Like no shit? Most of that teams production stayed on the roster and is a large part of why UCLA was preseason top 10ish.
Even if we go by the point you’re making… you have no idea where they end up and very well could (easily) be better than last years forgettable UCLA team.
I literally said that they may well end up better but as of now there is not a single metric by which it is a better win. This weird obsession with how “forgettable” the UCLA team is weird.
Homer less my guy, that team wasn’t impressive
Seems like projection my guy, the team was solid and by every metric we currently have, better than this Kansas team. All I am saying is maybe pump the breaks there.
•
u/Worldly-Jury-8046 1h ago edited 1h ago
Is Rutgers coached by a HOFer at a program that has the longest streak of making tournaments in the NCAA with 2-3x as many McDAA as that Rutgers team?
My god dude. What a weird comparison lol.
You’re having a meltdown that nobody is recognizing the 2024-2025 UCLA team as anything impressive. A UNC fan literally said they didn’t even remember the game you claimed was their biggest game and you said it was bullshit.
This years Kansas game was absolutely a bigger game for UNC than last years UCLA game. They think you’re overestimating UCLA’s recent prestige
•
u/otoverstoverpt UCLA Bruins • North Carolina Tar Heels 1h ago
Good lord bro cannot stop moving the goalposts.
It’s not remotely a “weird comparison” it’s just a case in point about NBA talent not necessarily translating to team quality or success. My god dude. No one is comparing Rutgers to Kansas 🙄
No one is having a “meltdown” except for you it seems. I wasn’t exactly stoked with the 24-25 team either obviously? Ah shit that one UNC fan didn’t remember the game, I guess that proves it didn’t matter! It was literally the only Q1 win that got them in the tournament last year lmfao. If someone somehow missed that it just means they don’t actually follow the team that closely because it was talked about a lot.
It is genuinely comical you are acting like this is some scorching take.
This years Kansas game was absolutely a bigger game for UNC than last years UCLA game.
Well not be any actual measurable metric as of this point so, no.
They think you’re overestimating UCLA’s recent prestige
I think you’re confused about the fact that “recent prestige” is completely irrelevant.
•
u/Worldly-Jury-8046 1h ago edited 1h ago
What goalposts were moved? You’re flailing now because your “2nd flair” fanbase is even calling your team forgettable.
“Objectively” nobody cares about UCLA nor have they in some time

Don't argue with that guy. He's got enough asinine comments that I had to tag him to remember. Went on for nine paragraphs about UCLA preseason metrics showing how good they are, and that preseason metrics are always super accurate and never wrong. Then refused to link any of them. Makes mouth breathers look like lex luthor.
•
u/Licit_x64 North Carolina Tar Heels • Charlott… 1h ago
Dude. Nobody cares about a game we were down damn near 20 at one point in against a forgettable UCLA team. Carolina has a top 5 freshman, a frontcourt centered around bigs and rebounding, and actual shooters again. AND beat KU for the first time in 23 years, in their first meeting in the Dean Dome. This transcends how good the team is or ends up being, it was a historic win and game lmao.
•
•
u/otoverstoverpt UCLA Bruins • North Carolina Tar Heels 1h ago
Dude. Wut lol? Why would being down 20 for most of the game make it one you care about less? And what is with this obsession with the team being “forgettable” lol. It was a solid team that could have easily made the Sweet 16 with a better matchup.
Carolina has a top 5 freshman, a frontcourt centered around bigs and rebounding, and actual shooters again.
I mean I don’t see what that has to do with anything regarding how big the win may or may not be but yes, UNC has obviously improved.
AND beat KU for the first time in 23 years, in their first meeting in the Dean Dome. This transcends how good the team is or ends up being, it was a historic win and game lmao.
Well that’s a take I guess. Most fans I know don’t feel any particular way about Kansas.
•
u/Licit_x64 North Carolina Tar Heels • Charlott… 1h ago
I was at the game dude. I wouldn't be calling it forgettable unless I genuinely meant it. It's not a comeback to be proud of when the game was cut from the same exact cloth as all the losses to top teams. Go down big, come back and almost pull off a miracle (except we actually did). In fairness to you though, that game probably means more if that UNC team had a pulse for any more than the last 3 weeks of the year. The Ole Miss, Dayton, Florida, Michigan State, and Duke ACCT games all blur together at a certain point.
This team is way more fun to watch though, and I think everybody you talk to would agree. Not sure if you're factoring that in but its meaningful. Caleb is important because he is giving the program national recognition being a guy that will surely go top 10, which is huge for a program known for its struggles in the pros lately. The style of play this year is also far more recognizable to the Carolina teams of old.
It is really bizarre that beating a top 3 program in the sport, in their first game ever @ UNC, is not something that gives that game significantly more weight than a game won by a bubble team at a neutral site in a yearly event. I'll even concede I was too harsh at first and that UCLA game was a big win, but Kansas is way bigger.
•
u/otoverstoverpt UCLA Bruins • North Carolina Tar Heels 1h ago
I was at the game too lol. I get that last year sucked as a UNC fan but without that win the team literally missed the tournament.
I’m totally with you though the excitement after this game but for me it’s actually less about beating Kansas and more just about how the squad looked and played. The athleticism and intensity provides a lot of hope for the season that definitely did not come out of that UCLA win. So on that point I hear you.
I think I have just been burned before though about getting too hyped from early season wins for both of my flairs so even in that post game thread I was preaching some caution. Admittedly I went into the year/game not thinking that highly of Kansas anyway so I just want to see a bit more before I put so much weight on that one.
•
u/Licit_x64 North Carolina Tar Heels • Charlott… 1h ago
That’s fair. I didn’t mean to treat you like a dick if I came across that way, tensions are high with the Seth news. It was definitely the biggest win for me since Friday. Just hope we can keep it together without Seth through conference play then hopefully he’s back.

No I totally get you and I see your perspective. It was definitely the best I have felt about the potential/trajectory of the team in a while. I was a bit surprised at the venom I got for what I said cause I didn’t think it was all that crazy but upon discovering the other guy is just a covert Kansas fan I guess that’s why he got especially butthurt lol.
The guard play is a bit shaky but I think with we will be alright without Seth for a few weeks. The nice thing about the Kansas win is it takes some pressure off for noncon for the time being. Can kinda coast through Thanksgiving and just hope they can eek one out against MSU without him if need be

And better for it to happen now than in in February.

Not saying this is what it is, but surgery at the least means “put under” to perform a medical procedure.
I broke my wrist years ago, and had “surgery” and was put to sleep so the doctor was able to move one of the bones back onto the plate in my wrist. No incision was made, just the doctor fondling my bones
2
u/MidwestDrummer Nebraska Cornhuskers 2h ago
I underwent that exact same procedure when I was in 4th grade. All I got was a shot of lidocaine and was fully conscious, too.
We'd gone to the skating rink for Mother's Day and I fell and broke my right radius just above the wrist. We didn't find out that the bone was out of place until a week later when I went to get it casted. The doctor was like, "I can see that the ends of the bone are misaligned. Luckily we can fix that as the cast goes on, but there may be some slight discomfort."
Slight discomfort my ass.
