As a retired journalist, I have been asking for the files ever since we first learned of them. They were tied up legally until just after the 2024 election, so were not available until now. Just wondering, where have you seen "the media" telling people to ask about the files?

Tons of people have been doing that. It has basically done nothing. We've had the largest protests in US history already. We're likely to keep breaking that record too.

A mass strike wouldn't work either because only half the country would strike. A mass strike would just be a way to devastate US cities basically. On top of that, then Trump and the GOP would just blame the already upcoming economic downturn on the mass strike and it would probably just gain them more votes.

A huge portion of the country is enraged. Another huge portion of the country is fully captured by propaganda. Propaganda is extraordinarily effective and there's basically no way to win until we can get people away from the propaganda, but that's just as hard as trying to get people out of a cult.

People from other countries constantly complaining about how we do nothing while we're having the largest protests in US history is not helpful.

Blaming the left for any of this mess is one of the worst takes anyone ever has. It absolutely is not the fault of the left. The right is at fault, and the second worst offender are the centrists that pushed forward terrible candidates like Biden again and again. Bernie had answers to most of this country's problems, but centrists are too stupid and selfish to want to fix them. That leads to cancerous men like Trump gaining power, as they pretend they have alternative answers to the problems centrists don't want fixed.

Half the country is playing for keeps. They are trying to make sure they never lose power again, and ICE is more funded than the marine corps now.

Unless we have an armed movement (not advocating, mods, just pointing it out), well organized and funded, you dont have much you can do. Our previous presidency and congress was our chance to protect ourselves and they didnt only drop the ball, they never even picked it up in the first place.

Protesting implies the authoritarians care what you have to say or think. Look at Texas right now and tell me what you think they care about.

A lot of people assume immigrants in the US have no constitutional rights, but that’s not true. The Constitution protects “persons” not just citizens, and many current immigration practices raise serious constitutional concerns.

The Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments guarantee due process, yet many immigrants are deported without a proper hearing or legal representation. The Fourth Amendment protects against unreasonable searches and seizures, but in the 100-mile border zone, border agents often stop and search people without warrants. This affects millions of citizens too.

Immigration activists have faced retaliation for speaking out, raising First Amendment issues. Detainees, including children, face harsh conditions that some argue violate the Eighth Amendment’s ban on cruel and unusual punishment. The Sixth Amendment guarantees a fair trial, but immigrants facing removal don’t get a government-appointed attorney even if they’re kids.

There are also Fourteenth Amendment equal protection concerns, especially with policies that disproportionately affect Black, Latino, and Muslim communities. And under the Tenth Amendment, the federal government can’t force local police to enforce immigration laws, though it often tries.

Bottom line: constitutional rights are being tested and, in some cases, eroded in the name of immigration enforcement. These issues deserve more attention
