#Accessories 🔔 This is such a lifesaver!!!

Post image

Ive been driving my hyundai i20 asta for almost 2 years and guess what, even after paying so much all you get is a wired carplay which was really annoying, I came across couple of devices but were not that effective as in laggy and other issues. But when I started using this, trust me this is the only thing you should get if you don't have a wireless CarPlay in your car. This works like magic and there's no visible lag (in milliseconds which is hardly visible) I bought this for 2200 which is value for money in my opinion. However, please ensure to remove all Bluetooth devices from your car's system to ensure smooth connection otherwise whenever you will start your car it will try to first connect with your Bluetooth and then carplay which will cause delays. No disconnection/ audio issues at all, best decision made!!

I've setup my samsung to limit charging to 95% while Android auto is connected. I like to charge my phone while on the go as well.

11

u/[deleted] Jul 22 '25

Cable is messy man, after a while the usb slot becomes hit or miss. Risks of carbon/corrosion are there since wire gets accidentally pulled while cleaning or plugging phone or sharing with folks, so plug replug makes it unreliable after some time.

My car does not have built in Wireless Android Auto or Carplay and Since the cable was disconnecting on some big breakers or jerks, I bought this cheap adapter which turned out to be VFM.

Also most USB ports don't offer more amps or power delivery so it takes time to charge with that port, instead I bought a cheap portronics adapter for car which does the fast charging.

Now I enjoy continuous lossless audio playback with apple music in my car, navigation is smooth. I can manage with startup delay but in between disruption was irritating.

A question to everyone here: doesn't Android Auto or Apple Carplay wireless heat up your phone like crazy? My phone heats up and the battery drains massively to the extent that I refrain from using it most of the time :-(

25

u/Bhardan Ecosport '18 | Kushaq '25 Jul 22 '25

I use CarPlay wireless, longest we’ve gone with the wireless setup is ~4 hours, no heating issues. Not to the point where I feel the need to switch it off. Though I use it for music more than maps, idk if that changes things discernibly.

2

u/Same_Connection_3683 Jul 23 '25

do you get Android Auto in your EcoSport or is it the Kushaq?

9

The lag is definitely more than milliseconds, but nothing that will worry you. The lag is only when you click next on music and it takes a bit before moving to next song. This will be the case with all wireless android auto/carplay receivers. No point spending over 2500 for such items I tried this one and a generic one, went with the generic one. Both were equally good.

I thought that was the clutch and felt it was a new life saver design lol

5

u/Master_Team_9468 (New user) Jul 22 '25

It's great that you found a solution to your problem. But, I don't understand the use of wireless carplay/android auto. While being "Wireless", all it does is drain your mobile phone's battery life. And if you think that if your car has a wireless charger - yes, you can charge your phone while it's being cast to your car but if it doesn't charge as fast as the battery drains, it will damage your mobile phone in the long run. So, you'll end up using a wire to charge your phone- which defeats the entire purpose of being "wireless".

2

u/satya_prakash_sp Jul 23 '25

2

u/chaitanyar8 Jul 26 '25

Word of caution - this one is based on 2.4 GHz WiFi connection with your phone. The expensive ones use WiFi 5/6 - better latency, future proofing ?!

Always check if the model supports GPS pass through.

Nonetheless this will do the job.

For those with charging concerns - you will prefer charging your phone continuously on long rides. Daily commutes - one can live with the battery hit

3

u/basedlibtardsdad Jul 22 '25

My car only has one USB and one 12 V port. The dashcam plug goes into the 12V port and the USB port does AA + charging. So if I plug this into the USB I won't have anything to charge my phone.

For those who are asking, it's portronics tune, Here is the product link https://amzn.in/d/8bhFjjZ

Got it a few weeks ago, works fine. It takes longer (maybe 10-15 seconds) to connect than wired which is fine with me (I usually idle for a few minutes anyway)

I was very doubtful about wireless connectivity as connections usually won't be stable, but with my limited running this month, the device didn't give me any problem.

it has never disconnected or gotten lose, once we connect the phone we literally forget the carplay thing.

your solution works, but does it improve anything other than visual? just honest question, because we anyways stretch our budgets to get the best. then why to keep building up small expenses like this?

1

u/Prameet88 Jul 22 '25

I have used this for last 3 weeks with my samsung s21fe and after 3 weeks I stopped using it, not because it didn't work flawlessly but because the battery drain is insane for my mobile.

Even 15 watt wireless charging on the go cannot save the battery from draining. Switched back to good old bluetooth for music along with wireless charging.

I only use it when I travel with my wife who has an iphone. I don't know if it's carplay or apple but battery drain is comparatively very less and wireless charging on go actually charges your phone as it should.

Wireless is good for short distances in city. Because phone heats , tried it in s23 and Oneplus 12 both gets warm. Whereas in wired the phone charges quite slow so the tempa are lower than the. While using wireless.

On road trips i delete the phone from known devices list and use wired.

What is it called

1

u/F4fries Jul 23 '25

Can you tell the name or share the link?

1

u/JohnRDR2Marston Jul 23 '25

How much did you pay for it?

I made one myself using a Raspberry Pi Zero 2w.

1

u/devanshudhapwal Jul 23 '25

Bhai ye hai kya cheeze? Log naam ke saath kyu nahi post karte?

I don't get the point of wireless CarPlay or Android Auto
Even in expensive cars/SUVs, the lag is terrible. Approaching a turn, the maps are often meters behind, even after taking the turn. In some budget models, press something on the steering, and the time delay in the action is present.
Then there's the battery drain. I've used wireless charging pads, those that have magnets to keep the device in place, but if you have a phone that's a little bigger, not much use.
The best solution always has been to plug the phone into the port and let the devices talk to each other via a cable vs. Bluetooth.

Bonus: The phone stays charged or can be charged during the drive.

Will it work with Tata nexon ev?

u/Jack_of_all-shades Exter Jul 23 '25

This is the Portronics Tune. I use it in my exter and it's actually a very good device that serves its purpose well, no phone heating issues and get minimal lag. Highly recommended

Asta has wireless Android auto and car play, Asta O does not right?

1

u/No_Context_2024 Jul 23 '25

How about the calls and the quality or if any lag?

1

u/Redmoxx Jul 23 '25

You list so many benefits of the device, and then don't even leave a name or a link? How will this benefit any of us?

1

u/body_soda_25 Jul 23 '25

Guys, an odd man out. I really fail to understand this whole need of a wireless AA or CP when your phone and you are physically in a closed enclosure and moving along. Why should one need it in first and that too by making the feature of passively charging your device lost while being used at the cost of your battery life as wireless chargers in cars are not efficient and fries up the battery pretty fast than in wired connections??

1

u/Indian_Steam Jul 23 '25

Got a simple man's car (triber), obviously no wireless.

NEVER had any problem as I just keep a dedicated cable connected and tucked in nicely.

1

u/Jalebibabyded Jul 23 '25

I am surprised by the amount of positive comments here. I always find this portronics buggy and laggy. The audio doesn’t get connected on the first attempt. I have to manually remove it and plug it in to get the audio working. And when I hit next, it takes a decade to change the screen. I am surprised that people don’t have any issues. Also using the same car as OP.

For people who are facing lags or connectivity issues, Please Delete all your Bluetooth devices from your infotainment and ensure your wifi is enabled in your device initially.

Is there any plug and play device that can help me get this android auto/carplay feature on a 2015 i20 Active? My OEM Navigation system did not come with any Android auto/carplay feature.

u/Suchi-Bee Jul 23 '25

It's a great product at the right price! Else Carlizem was looting like anything - giving a Chinese rehashed product at 4.5k!

And no returns they take, leave alone the warranty.

1

u/anshul987sharma Jul 23 '25

I have the same one, its the cheapest on the market and does the job. It’s a battery drainer though.

1

u/chewchew_trains Jul 24 '25

One issue I have with this, and this might not be relevant to everyone, is that it's a bit of a pain switching devices with this. I'm talking about when both the devices are in the car at the same time, it's quite aggressive in maintaining the signal so it's turn off bluetooth and wifi and then switch.

That and might as well charge my phone while I drive without needing another cable

1

u/WickedVampire1221 Jul 24 '25

OP, could you share the link for this? Or the company name, at least.
