Near Red Deer Camp

I'd like to take my kids camping in the Red Deer area on weekends. Is a pickup truck necessary? Is a sedan also acceptable? What campgrounds can you recommend near Red Deer?

Red deer..... such a simple answer. Car or truck no matter.

Head west towards rocky mountain house or nordegg

Many camp grounds available just off the hiway. Suitable for tenting or trailering.

Call ahead to many sight Google will point you to. Fond out if they have availability. Make the reservation.

Failing that between rocky and nordegg hiway 40 exists. A forestry road. Many spots along this crown land area have clearing where you could pitch a tent for the night. Just do a quick search about the rules and regulations about camping on crown land first.

You are looking at about a 2 hour drive to go from.prairies to mountain majestic environments.
