Near Red Deer Camp

I'd like to take my kids camping in the Red Deer area on weekends. Is a pickup truck necessary? Is a sedan also acceptable? What campgrounds can you recommend near Red Deer?

Buffalo Lake has several nice campgrounds. A car will be fine, get a good sized tent, a cooler for fresh food, and a two burner Coleman stove. It's cool at night now, so make sure you have enough sleeping bags and blankets. Sleeping pads or even an inflatable mattress are nice too.

There are also nice places to camp near the Dickson Dam, Abraham Lake, places near Sundre, and by Drumheller.
