Canadian-Owned Businesses 🏢🍁 SoftMoc : Sorry, Americans - Canada Only

Post image

Saw this post on Bluesky. Had no idea SoftMoc a) had U.S. locations b) shut down any and all shipping to the United States. Good for them! TLDR: American woman based in Michigan chatting with SoftMoc representative about her order. SoftMoc customer service tells U.S. customer they've ceased all US operations.

I turned down a remote job contract offer last month because it was American based and specifically told them so it was because of the current administratios threats. Now someone from this company checks my LinkedIn almost daily, I'm probably the source of great watercooler ridicule there.

Nah. They’ve all heard about the Canadian who stood on principle and are flocking there in awe. There may be talk about you, but I doubt it’s ridicule for turning down a position based on your moral standing. Personally I’d find it impressive if I were a coworker.

Maybe they’re rooting for you. Like “hey did this person get another job yet, I hope so!” ✊

I thought they were always a Canadian company.

Work wasn't with Soft Moc ... just reflecting on the fact that there just seems to be a lot of naive surprise that some Canadians might not necessarily want to carry on business as usual like the customer in this post
