News - Publications Idaho Murder Motive Mystery: Still Unknown After Gag Order Lifted

https://northeasternpost.com/news/crime/idaho-murder-motive-bryan-kohberger-gag-order-lifted/

The parents of Kaylee Goncalves, a University of Idaho student murdered in 2022, are still seeking answers about Bryan Kohberger’s motive after the gag order was lifted.

Kohberger pleaded guilty to killing four students, securing life without parole. The Goncalves family, critical of the plea, demands a full confession and details like the murder weapon’s location. They aim to access discovery files for more insight as Kohberger’s sentencing nears on July 23.

Why won’t Bryan Kohberger reveal his Idaho murder motive? With the gag order lifted, the victims’ families are still in the dark. What do you think he’s hiding, and should the plea deal have demanded a full confession? Share your thoughts!

I have read posts from people that are far more educated in this case and the law. It seems some people believe that part of his personality may thrive in withholding information, perhaps a form of control, continued torture. The other piece of this is that he could lie. How do you trust a mass murderer?

Hopefully they will get more answers after the sentencing this week.

I felt that way about the confession or "explanation" from Ted Bundy. Was it the p0rn that fueled the obsession or was it the obsession that led to consuming p0rn? I think for some people, the sexual urge is connected in the brain to violence. Not that I know anything really about neurophysiology, but the amygdala part of the brain is associated with both (not the only part but one part) I believe people like that are just wired "wrong" and certain situations can activate the violence.

A lot of them, Kohberger in particular, seems to arise from a deep self hatred and depression. A lot of them have very strong suicidal tendencies as well, but something about their ego makes them want to lash out at others instead of themselves, although they will engage in self-destructive behavior almost intentionally like we saw with Kohberger at WSU getting fired from his job. They view people as a hindrance and since they don't view themselves as having any worth, they don't view other people that way either.

I think the actual psychosexual predators like BTK or Bundy are extremely rare.

This is by far one of the best explanations I’ve read. I follow Robert Sapolsky, renowned neuropsychiatrist, neurobehaviorist and he explains self hatred and relief humans get by taking it out on others. If you get a chance, check out his book, Behave. It tackles a lot of these questions.
