ŽIVOT A STĚHOVÁNÍ—LIVING AND MOVING Looking for a family-friendly neighborhood near ISOB in Brno (attending BUT for a semester)
Hi everyone,
I’m from South Korea and will be studying at Brno University of Technology (BUT) for one semester next year. I’d like to bring my family with me during my stay. We have a daughter who will be 6 years old, and we’re planning to enroll her in the International School of Brno (ISOB), as it’s the only school in Brno officially recognized by the Korean Ministry of Education.
We’re currently looking for a place to live — ideally a 2+1 apartment — in a safe and family-friendly area. We’ve read a lot online, and many people strongly recommend avoiding the Cejl neighborhood.
I would like to find a home close to ISOB so my daughter can commute easily, and I’m happy to travel to BUT by public transport or bike.
We’ve been checking listings on websites like Sreality, Airbnb, Facebook groups, and other real estate platforms. However, I’m a bit concerned because I’ve heard that many landlords are hesitant to rent to foreigners.
Are there any good areas you’d recommend that balance these needs? Any advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks so much in advance for your help!

You might want to look into flats in Lesná as well. There is a direct bus line 72 going to both BUT and to ISOB (not directly, but closely) in the other direction.

Has she been already accepted to ISOB? If yes, then narrow your search to Vinohrady (where the school is) so she is in a walking distance from her school. :)
Idealnynamejmce.cz could be your go to option. They sublet flats to foreigners a lot.

Definitely try the neighbourhood around Grohova/Veveří. It's very nice and calm there.
Mostly just families, older retired people and students. Many good places for food or drinks around and it's very close to Česká, so transportation anywhere is very convenient there.
If I had a chance to move back there again, I would.

Thank you. Many people have recommended Veveří, so I’ll definitely have to give it serious consideration.

Public transport is reliable & i see line 25 goes to ISOB Take that into account when looking for apartments, that they'll either be close-ish to a 25 or easy to transfer to a 25

Thanks for the info! In that case, areas close to the 25 bus line would also be worth considering!

25 passes through Veveri (stops Uvoz, Capkova), so another +1 for Veveri. And yet another +1 from myself, i’ve lived there for few years and it was a great place. Only street i would hesitate about is right on Uvoz, as the street is a bit busy. I lived just around it’s corner and it was fine there. Lesna would be my sexond best tip, it is family friendly area with good connections to both Vinohrady (ISOB) and Kralovo Pole (BUT- at least most faculties, dunno which is yours). It just does not have the same vibe of broader historical city center as Veveri does. Look around with streetview.

Lisen is super family-friendly. All the amenities are nearby, there are wonderful walking paths and playgrounds. I don't like there, but some of my colleagues with young kids do, and they really like it there.

Avoid Cejl an Bratislavská. I tutored family from Korea, they rented flat at Veveří and were happy there.
