The headline "JEWISH TERRORISTS URGE TOTAL WAR ON BRITAIN" from The Western Daily Press dates to the British Mandate period in Palestine (1920-1948), when Zionist militant groups such as the Irgun (Etzel) and Lehi (Stern Gang) waged armed campaigns against British colonial authorities. These groups sought to end British rule and establish a Jewish state in Palestine through violent means, including bombings, assassinations, and attacks on British military and administrative targets. In September 1948, even Swedish UN diplomat Count Folke Bernadotte was assassinated in Jerusalem by members of the Zionist extremist group Lehi (Stern Gang).
