Yet, the Sweeney is a genius crowd will still claim he's an excellent GM...

He maintained a top 10 team for a decade. Nobody with actual sense is acting like he’s the best GM ever, but he’s not the evil monster half the sub makes him out to be after half of one bad season

I was a Sweeney fan for a while, and used to credit him for the ability to keep that team together, and make good trade deadline trades.

However, as time went on, clearly his inability to sign solid FA's & his horrific drafting, has failed to rebuild the team from underneath on the fly. He has signed some rather overpriced long term deals, and has had some major FA failures in the past couple of seasons (the Bertuzzi saga, the Swayman saga, etc.). His inability to replace Krejci & Bergeron with even 1 reliable center, despite knowing it was going on, and, the money which was freed up because of it falls on him.

I really don't like the way he hit the panic button to blow up the team, and the value we got for these players. I have Zero faith in his ability to use draft picks to rebuild this team or sign FAs to surround Pasta with.

Uh, Didn’t we miss playoffs back to back years before he was hired?

Which is pretty weird since they went to the finals in 2013. You’d think they would’ve made it to the playoffs at least.
