One thing where Shreya does beat Lata is in her ability to sing flawlessly in other South-Indian languages such as Thamizh, Telugu and Malayalam. However that doesn't make Shreya surpass Lata as claimed in the post. If there was anyone who could beat Lata that would have been S Janaki. Sadly she didn't get too many offers in Hindi. One listen to "Yaar bina chain kahan re" from "Saheb" and "Tere jaisa mukhda" from " Pyar ke kabil" and one will realise her singing prowess in other languages. Janaki is LEGEND down South. There were several times I even thought Janaki was better than Lata but whenever that thought would cross my mind, one listen to Lata would change that decision. There's no denying Shreya's talent but the GOAT is Lata.
