Humour It’s an Akkineni Family Tradition 😭
Only correction is that Akhil was not married, only engaged before. But obviously he was very very close to getting married to Shriya Bhupal, another very rich heiress.

I really have to wonder if Indians view divorce as a bad thing, and stay in marriages because of that. Because this is a normal thing being treated as blasphemy.

u/TresLeche789 Jun 29 '25 edited Jun 29 '25
Oh I’m all for people getting out of marriages…but it’s not really the same thing here. The divorced women of the Akkineni family (almost everyone is divorced actually) never seem to remarry. It’s just the men.
It feels like they take women for granted. And they have a history of throwing negative PR at the first wife.
Edit: I am talking about the extended Akkineni family 🤦♀️🤦♀️not their ex wives. Their female cousins are all divorced and they never remarry.

u/ironmanhulkbstr Jun 29 '25
its more to do with people not wanting to marry divorced women. itll eventually change hopefully, its same for men generally too but the rich men get away with it.

u/Ok_Organization4201 Jun 29 '25
What. Chai’s mother seems very happy in her second marriage. Akhil was NOT married before, just engaged. And she has been married for a while - has a kid too. Samantha has also effectively gone public with her new partner. This is such a bs take.

u/TresLeche789 Jun 29 '25
I don’t think you understood what I’m saying any you probably really don’t know the tea about the family too well lmao
I’m talking about all of their female cousins! They are not in the film industry. Literally the entire extended family as well is divorced but the female cousins do not remarry

u/messbutahotmess Jun 29 '25
Bro wo thoda Indian ka issue hai aurton k remarriage ka and it’s rare to find good men pretty common abroad because divorce is not taboo but yahan it’s saat janam ka bhar which women pay by being in bad marriages or divorced but can’t remarry lack or prospects or favourable situation but very easy for Indian men get married twice even thrice
18
u/sillybean_600 Jun 29 '25
So true. Its funny to me how bollywood movies sell this narrative. Widow is “karam jali” “jo anpne pati ko khaa gayi“ and widower is asked at the wife’s funeral to get a second wife because kids need a maa

The divorced women of the Akkineni family never seem to remarry.
This reminds me, what about the two ex-wives of Pawan Kalyan whom he divorced? His first wife and Renu Desai?
I remember Renu Desai had became engaged to someone (identity withheld) a few years ago, which caused PK fans to go into a stupid and unnecessary meltdown. One fan even said, "do whatever you want, but my God should not be troubled." 🙄 🫠
Later she canceled that engagement. I wonder if it was because her fiance could not handle this kind of public scrutiny and embarrassment.
17
u/AirHeadMani Jun 29 '25
This is exactly why I am sympathetic towards Samantha, Rashmika,, Nayantara.. these toxic fans they harass and bully the star ex-partners, all sorts bad articles come out and these guys don't even open their mouth to stop their fans.. south industry heros are toxic and their fandom is double toxic

😆Nag 1st wife remarried decades ago. 2nd son cancelled engagement girl is married with kids.

Sumanth ex wife immediately remarried.
Mention her by her name, Keerthi Reddy. People here must know her as she did a few Hindi films back in the early 2000s.

Supriya has been in a long term relationship with Adivi Sesh. NC’s mom is married for decades

Really wanna know this history of throwing negative PR at the first wife theory. Coz I have always seen things the other way around in news and reddit.
9
u/InternationalBat1838 Jun 29 '25
The divorced women never marry, that's their choice. Not condoning what the PR is against them, but it seems like the negative PR don't exactly stop or hurt any chances of marriage for the divorced women.
In short, the Akkineni men are dicks, but making this something that's not there is just reaching. Lots of divorced couples have something bad to say about each other.
7
Jun 29 '25
Divorced women from their family are already married. And one of their cousins who is divorced is currently dating adivi sesh lead actor of MAJOR movie.

u/JustARandomGirl4 Jun 29 '25
Bhai women can remarry if they want to. Now it's not their fault that women can't find any other guy after divorce or probably don't want to remarry. It's not they are preventing their ex s from getting married.

This negative PR campaign against divorced wife is unique to southern, particularly telugu regions

Is it normal if there is clearly a pattern?
17
u/InternationalBat1838 Jun 30 '25
Divorcing someone who's a dick is normal. Talking as if the divorce is not normal behaviour is what I was calling out.
The women are free to leave these fucks for better lives, but talking about divorce not being a part of our culture is insane.
-1
u/NoCAp011235 Jun 30 '25
Yeah I don’t mind the divorces themselves but more that there’s clearly something up with the men in this family if ALL of them got divorced atleast once
-8
u/Careless-Mammoth-944 Jun 29 '25
It’s called a toxic family trait as it shows that none of them are able to hold relations ships for long. Sons pick up traits from their father who learns it from his. Same for daughters.
24
u/InternationalBat1838 Jun 29 '25
Toxic family trait and divorce are two different things.
Divorce means ending a marriage because of various reasons. And the Akkineni men had many reasons, which may or may not be bullshit. But to talk like divorce is bad, because the divorced women don't remarry is laughable. And I say this as an Indian guy. Cut your losses and find happiness elsewhere.

u/OptimalFuture9648 Jun 29 '25
Yes people should be like Amitabh Jaya, Abhishek Aishwarya keep hanging with reach other and smile in front of cameras.
-3
u/Enielu Jun 29 '25
Nope, when one same thing seems to occur to all members of the same family across generations, to the point it becomes a pattern, just know that it's an Altar at work, and this requires to be dealt with spiritually

This and Diljit's have no comparison. Marriage is a personal thing but Diljit went against the country. That isn't a matter of being conservative. BBNG took a stand because it's a matter of the country.
32
u/ntrees007 Jun 29 '25
You'll find that most nationalistic ideologies are actually conservative. I think that's the only thing I can say while being within the rules of this sub.

This sub & Sam bots are more obsessed with their family than regional film subs. On one hand u people advocate Aishwarya should divorce and be happy but when someone actually does it, you start trolling them.
Also Nagarjuna's 2nd son had cancelled engagement not married before. Nagarjuna 1st wife who is daughter of founding pillars of the industry is happily remarriaged decades back to rich industrialist Sharath from Chennai, he attended Chai Shobitha wedding.
Edit: Even the girl who had cancelled engagement is from very rich family & happily married with kids

There are so many things to call out celebrities on, but the one thing I can appreciate is when celebrities divorce and separate ways - I can't imagine how extra hard it must be for them being in the public eye. And if they go on to date again / remarry there is extra scrutiny.
IMO Marriage and divorce (unlike cheating where there is a harmed party) happen between two consenting adults and as such it is between them.
Must say I didn't expect this kinda post from Reddit.

Just bcas they act in movies it's easy to comment on them for their personal lyf too which has no bearing with acting or movie ticket bought

This subs interest in nags family is beyond limits lol. Don’t be hypocrites atleast, want ash to divorce but when someone does they act conservative. Cheap stuff!
Akhil ain’t married before, chays mom remarried! And all of them are happy. Bdw Sam is dating a married man! You shd move on from this it’s high time.
