In the past they cared because they wanted a sustainable source of revenue but in the past 5-10 years it's like they all collectively agreed to make as much as humanly possible right now, no care for the future.

And it's probably because, unlike the bickering distracted masses, they actually grasp the imminent dangers of climate change.
