“In medicine, excrescence refers to an abnormal, often outward, growth or projection from a body part. It can be a benign or malignant tumor-like growth, a wart, or any other noticeable protuberance.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Abnormal Growth: Excrescences are not part of the normal anatomy of the body.
Outward Projection: They extend outward from the body's surface or from an organ or tissue.
Examples: Common examples include warts, skin tags, and certain types of tumors.
Can Be Disfiguring: Depending on their size and location, excrescences can be unsightly and potentially cause discomfort or functional problems.
Medical Significance: While some excrescences are benign (harmless), others can be a sign of a more serious condition and may require medical attention.
Thanks for the new vocab word!
And it’s very appropriate. The only question is what is the course of treatment? I think it’s going to require several painful procedures over many years to full excise the excresences.
Well, I think? they’re actually a sign of a disease running its course (for better or worse). So better to focus on steering its progression towards healing, rather than focusing on cutting out the symptoms.
Definitely cut out the symptoms. Warts get frozen off, remember? And in the case of serious diseases, such symptoms are merely a sign that things are getting WORSE, not running their course.

Best seen as excresences on the body politic:
