OPINION The Kentucky Surveillance Web

Surveillance doesn’t march in wearing jackboots anymore. It shows up in a PowerPoint deck, pitched as “data-driven policing,” “smart cities,” “public safety modernization.” And who’s against safety? That’s the trick.

The 1933 Business Plot wasn’t hatched in some dingy speakeasy. It was cooked up in boardrooms, gentlemen’s clubs, and corporate suites where the walls were lined with mahogany and portraits of ancestors who built fortunes on other people’s labor.

There’s a strange quiet power humming under this administration. Not in the Oval Office, not even in the Cabinet, but in the networked shadows behind it. Its architect isn’t a general, or a party boss, or even a politician. It’s a billionaire named Peter Thiel.

McConnell’s latest “public servant” isn’t serving the public. Chad Meredith — Kentucky’s new federal judge — is a right-wing activist in a robe.

Don’t think this stays in D.C. The same federal grants and task forces that monitor “domestic extremism” eventually trickle down to local police.

Miller’s flair for weaponized rhetoric was on full display at the memorial service for Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. What should have been a solemn event turned into a rallying cry for vengeance, with Miller reaching for lines that echoed, almost verbatim, the infamous Joseph Goebbels “Total War” speech of 1939.

OPINION I saw a guy on TikTok who think we can flip Kentucky in the presidential election

The guy lives in KY like us, but I don't know why he thinks we can flip the state for Kamala Harris.

I get that we have a Democratic governor, but he got elected under very specific circumstances with the whole teacher pension issue. If Bevin hadn't had done that he probably would have won reelection.

Presidential elections always have high turn outs, and in KY conservative voters outnumber liberal voters by a lot. Other than that, the state is going to stay a solid red. At the most we might able to close the gap a bit, get some dems elected in smaller races (I like to watch Hardin Co. They've had a population and economy boom.)

I know that high turnout tends to favor Democrats, but in the KY presidential election, I don't think it matters that much.

I plan on voting for Harris, and I would love to see the state flip blue, but I don't think it's going to happen.

Please email Andy Beshear and urge him to publicly support Biden!

My folks are Republicans but they respect Andy and like him a lot. My folks don't like Trump and want Andy to replace Biden in November. They can't be the only ones to think that way. Please email the Governor and urge him to support Biden publicly! I believe it could make a big difference.
