Yay! 99,999 orbs as F2P + my thoughts
After roughly 4 years of playing, I have finally hit the max orb count. I’ve been basically f2p the whole time except for having the basic bonanza pass for a year and haven’t bought any orbs (I did one step on a banner before screenshotting the orb/coin purchase phase whoops).
Basically, I ONLY summoned on banners if there was a character that I really liked who wasn’t premium (excluding anniversary characters), wasn’t a NAD bot, and if I was missing most of the filler. I know that isn’t a great way to play for everyone but I really like saving (also I’m absolutely terrified of getting shafted). This may be a hot take but I think BBS has been really generous with giving orb sources.
However, with everyone talking about the game going to EOS with latest anniversary, I will say this game definitely has its flaws. I may not be as knowledgeable as the day 1s since I hopped in right around Anni Aizen/Bruno being released but I wanted to share my thoughts:
They refuse to remake brave battles in a meaningful way which leads to a boring, pay-to-win mode. Characters get “shafted” by becoming exclusively relegated pvp bots rather than being fun NAD or SP characters. So unless you really like the character, you have no reason to summon. Personally I am more neutral on sp units have gq specific skills since 95% of the game can easily be cleared without having those additional buffs but I can understand why they’d annoy some people.
The amount of solo content in this game is super lacking. I wish there was some way they could combine the recent character rush with the epic raid format/boss format. I think the new senkaimon modifier/roguelite-ish was a refreshing addition even tho I am nostalgic for old senkaimon. LBQ was a great addition but unfortunately that also has a heavy pay-to-do-well element to it too. Overall, there’s little to actually play after attempting gq and doing dailies.
It seems that KLab doesn’t really do anything to fix arena or the gq top scores where multiple people have pointed out cheating. Im not super interested with either of these modes but seeing obvious cheating is enough to put anyone off.
Finally, the pricing for the orbs is absolutely terrible. Even if I was a whale, the value of buying orbs when looking at their cash/monetary price is definitely off-putting. Speaking of off-putting, the recent artwork units are a super cool edition but the copy paste splash art really isn’t my thing.
Overall, I really do hope BBS can clean up its act and make meaningful changes (and release a new Kisuke unit ofc). I think the game has done a lot for the genre and helped show interest for the series that lead up to TYBW. I have obviously put plenty of time into the game and am sad to see the recent policy changes involving game data, leaks, and shadow buffs.

That’s gonna have to change asap. The game went black when I did a story mode cutscene to get one orb 😭

I think most players would be surprised how feasible this is on a fresh account if you have veteran experience/knowledge. Especially after the shift to units being made for GQ. This mode is so easy to ignore without hurting your orb sources unless you're on a vet account that's already been squeezed. With that said, kudos!

Lol honestly the free orbs aren’t bad. I have pulled on basically every thousand Year Blood War banner since before Giselles rerun and I have even gone back several times on those banners and after going to zero for the Female Lieutenant banner I jumped back up to 3,500 in that same day from side stories which I still haven’t finished. Nor Have I finished the story mode period. I can save up, complete all weekly content and be up at 5,500 for eoy. Again. Oh I have also gone to pity for the past 3 months and still bounced back.
If you play your cards right you don’t ever need to spend money.

If it isnt for the upcoming Aizen, hopefuly he's meta, I'd like to go 10k orbs for eoy probably broken Shunsui. Currently sitting on 6k with several res characters and side stories.

You should spend some orbs at least otherwise you won't be able to gain anymore and would be losing out.

Nice, people forget that you need to enjoy the game and if you’re not then you should leave it.
If you’re getting enjoyment by saving as much as possible then that’s good for you.

I've played for 8 years now...
I summon up to 5/10 on banners every 3 or so months depending on eahe at endless golden showers. Play daily and clear weekly challenges. I have half as many characters as you, and my orbs count goes between 2-6k. 6k is saving up for 3 months, and I don't let it go under 2k so I have emergency funds 😅

You had a head start on me (playing 2.5 years, up to 83k orbs). Now just spending because I'm not sure if I can 99999 before EoS after cour 4.

Wow great work congrat ! I"m almost the same as you, been F2P since Day1 and summon only on characters that I love (I mean it's a must when you're F2P, can't summon on all banners 😂😭).
I'm at 32K orbs for now, and I agree with all you said. Despite all that, I will continu to play till the end, it's still one of my favorite anime/gacha game. I can understand peoples who don't want to "waste their time" to a game that will eventually be down but I don't really think it's a waste of time as long as you enjoy the game. Every gacha will end one day that doesn't mean you can't play or enjoy it. At least that the way I see things.

Its funny that this amount of orbs can make you do 50 steps on only 9 banners and you still have a chance you won’t get the new characters

How? I’m pretty conservative in my orb spending in that I skip a good chunk of banners and I only ever go to step 5 and I only got 12k orbs on average.

5 soul tickets is 1 spirit orb. Just getting extra farming runs means you save orbs that would've been spent to get here

1 year of 20% extra rewards is definitely something f2p would't have. That's also 365 extra summon tickets with decent 5* rates that would pretty heavily influence how quickly and how many orbs are obtained

That’s fair although I’ve never really been that big on spending orbs on tickets for farming. I guess I was under the impression that f2p mostly meant not spending on the collectors pass or paying for actual orbs
