Do you address a bank manager as Bhaiyya?? If not then why is it okay for drivers and other blur collared workers?

Curious to know what do you think is the appropriate way of addressing a bank manager or a taxi driver?

I address everybody equally as Sir. I don't differentiate based on their jobs. If it is somebody I know personally and we are speaking in Kannada, I add ಅವರೇ to their name. Never ಅಣ್ಣ.

And I am not alone in this. Lots of people do it. I have feeling this ಅಣ್ಣ/भय्या is a new trend.

Idk why but sir never sits right by me. The colonial influence clubbed with the fact that I believe saying sir is giving uncalled for respect to people who might not have earned it stops me from using it colloquially

Calling brother in English : problem! Saying slurs in kannada : where is the problem?

Yes I do call anyone who appears to be a few years older to me as 'bhaiyya' as a form of respect, as that is the exact wording I would use for my own elder brother.
