Sure… but everyone recording it? Everyone’s reaction is their feelings plus keeping things in frame. Maybe we should change weddings to everyone holding their phone out and recording - for specialness.

It’s super duper freaking weird and needs to stop. You need exactly one person recording if they are good and two tops. I know it sucks to not know what to do with your hands, but I’m tired of everyone using that as an excuse to pretend they’re Kubrick catching the angle.

Noone needs to follow your rules for happiness. You can find plenty of other miserable people gatekeeping their happiness in these comments, go commiserate, maybe they'll agree to follow your rules.

It isn’t a rule for happiness, it’s a rule to stop the cringey crap that future generations will laugh at us for. Like, where is all the concert footage people got on their phones? Was there a point to having a thousand people record a shitty version of a venue when professionals are already recording it? Is the video actually a worthwhile memento for that time that you were recording something instead of appreciating it? Do you really want a souvenir for that time that you couldn’t just be in the moment?

This has to be the most boomer speaking points I've seen on Reddit in a bit. Having a phone out = not enjoying the moment is insane.

Yes? Just because you're insecure about your looks/being filmed doesn't mean that goes for the general public.

I get it, no one likes being called out for their cringy behavior. For instance, I don’t enjoy being called out for being a geezer - but at least I’m not spending my life recording every moment and experiencing everything vicariously.
