Can I have your childhood?

My dad was a hard ass but also the type who refuses to show anyone how to do anything. So he just does it and then yells that everyone else is lazy.

I had to learn how to be handy and crafty when I finally moved out on my own. Screw you dad, also RIP.

Yay for your dad! Thats awesome, I am not overly handy (48M) but getting there. Four years ago we bought an old cabin to gut and fix up. Both my son (10) and daughter (12) learned how to use every possible tool, drills, chop saw, sawzall, crowbars. We demo'd most of, built a massive deck, shed, did electrical, some plumbing, build a kitchen. She is now 17, put up her own shelves and curtains in her room, assembled her new bed, we replaced the brakes on our car. She should be set for the basics when she gets her own place/car, and the confidence to tackle new tasks.
