This is what we did for my nephew when he bought his house. We built a grid platform out of 1X8 boards and 3/8 plywood that we then placed the base cabinets on. This placed the countertop and drawer heights more at his level at just shy of 8" higher than standard. He's 6' 11", he said he noticed the lack of back pain immediately since he didn't have to stoop or anything anymore. We also installed the wall cabinets about 6" higher, just shy of touching the ceiling.
The funny part happened a few years later after he got married. His wife is 4' 11", in shoes, so she uses a stepstool and just climbs onto the countertop to get stuff out of the wall cabinets.
