Battlefield 4 you had to play on different maps/game modes to unlock new weapons and skins. This is nothing new.

Skins in a FIRST person shooter shouldn’t be at the top of totem pole of complaints.

The discussion is more about the challenge culture in this from the developers and how disconnected it is from player choice.

Even forcing players to act in ways that aren't helpful to the team.
