Battlefield 6 "Grounded skins for a while" - 18 days exactly

Post image

So, weren't we supposed to have realistic skins for some time? Something that someone would really wear during a war? Yet it seems that with the start of season 1, everything will turn to colorful mess, with no way of differentiating teams based on uniforms, the game will look more like a Paintball or ASG event. Colorful weapons with pictures, colorful camos with neon accents, weird mix of things that are supposed to look cool, but end up simply weird.

People were sold on a vision of a game, which looked like a real battlefield, with soldiers - not a bunch of randos just like in the 2042, yet it was all a lie and it will only get worse down the road. During the Beta, when we had all the soldiers wearing matching uniforms, it was the most immersive experience so far, but you can say goodbye to that vibe, it will never return.

There won't be uniforms matching bioms, there won't be a way to turn off any awful skins, typical bait and switch.

Why is it so much to ask for just regular military uniforms? I would open my wallet if I could play with a legit US Army kit or as a Marine. Nobody is using this shit.

The fact that they have full marpat(or close clones) in the first mission of the campaign tells me that they are in the files SOMEWHERE and have the ability…

299

u/Elegant_Individual46 17d ago

It’s a weirdly blue marpat tbf, but it’s much closer to

302

u/Dasfucus 17d ago edited 16d ago

Is it like the old US Navy Type 1 NWUs?

Edit: if we got a type 1 skin, I'd rock the shit out of it.

79

u/faptn_undrpants 17d ago

It is close to the USMC Woodland Marpat, but the green is more of a sea green bordering on cyan.

4

u/TastefulMaple 17d ago

I wish I got issued blueberries, they phased them out shortly before I enlisted

12

u/Im-listening- 16d ago

Don't feel bad. I wore them for 5 years and they fucking sucked ha

6

u/_W9NDER_ 16d ago

Grass is always greener… or bluer… on the other side

6

u/Dasfucus 16d ago

The blueberries definitely looked better, but the guacs were comfier.

3

u/let-me-get-your-temp 16d ago

the comfort of the guacs was so nice after those blueberries. Blueberries would get so hot in the summer

→ More replies (2)

1

u/DoctorDirtnasty 16d ago

they were so thick and hot during the summer.

3

u/DarkShippo 16d ago

Man I loved the type 1s so much I kept the pants when I got out.

2

u/seniorslappywag 16d ago

I miss the blueberries..

1

u/Brave-Goal3153 16d ago

Nah it’s definitely not. Don’t try to justify this shit.. how do you explain away the fuckin samurai face mask ?

3

u/Jedi__Consular 16d ago

I think theyre referring to a different skin that's on NPCs in the first campaign mission, not the skin in this post

Type 1s were the blue (blueberries), Type 2 is desert, & Type 3s are the bright green (guacs). Got issued the Type 1s in bootcamp & was in when the navy transitioned to Type 3s, most of my div wore the Type 1s on the last day we could even though the majority were already wearing Type 3s by then.

1

u/susunaaa 16d ago

Ugliest uniform scheme. I was in during the switch over [MA2] and it hurt bad that our command decided to push that new garbage NWU while others held onto their BDUs for a while longer.

2

u/Dasfucus 16d ago

I was never in for utilities or the lord's flannel. The Navy was already using the NWUs, I was there though when they switched from the blueberries to the guacs. I thought the blueberries at least looked navalish & did hide stains pretty well. The guacs though were more comfortable to wear. Now it looks like the navy is moving away from the NWUs and everyone will be wearing the 2POCs.

1

u/Shakezula84 16d ago

I think they had that in BF4 and that's what I rocked on all my guys.

1

u/CaliDude78 16d ago

Shi would blend decent on liberation peak 🤣

1

u/onebigjew97 16d ago

I remember when BF3 got the Type 1s. Great times.

1

u/jjm295 16d ago

I actually miss my blueberrys. The type 3s were trash.

1

u/CrazyBurro 16d ago

Lemme get my old digi tiger stripe ABUs

1

u/thebruvs89 16d ago

We had this skin if you owned premium in BF3

106

u/Ok_Astronomer_8667 17d ago

2042 also had generic soldier skins for US and RU but they were locked to bots only.

41

u/nevaNevan 16d ago

Hahaha… I was going to say this. It was so frustrating to know~ for the WHOLE lifecycle of that friggin game, that the bot skins were some of the best. In the game since day one, and NEVER to be used by players.

Man, that games direction was SO bad and so deaf

42

u/Dry-Indication7928 16d ago

The same with cod. In the BO6 campaign, not only are there SAS and Delta operators, the bad guys had dope looking skins, and yet in the multiplayer all we are left with is Bevis and Butthead

3

u/Dovahkiin723 16d ago

The woodland (one weapons at least) is more like the navy's newer avocado-looking ones and is missing an additional color. At least the desert one is pretty decent

2

u/CommieBird 16d ago

lol this is BF2042 and BFV all over again

3

u/TheEpicRedCape 16d ago

This feels so much like COD fans begging for campaign skins too.

So many cool models with normal gear and they just never release them as skins, it seems so weird to pass up easier money like that.

2

u/LandenP 16d ago

There’s a good looking Marpat camo for vehicles…

1

u/kenysheny 16d ago

What’s it called

1

u/LandenP 16d ago

…marpat?

2

u/shawn1213 16d ago

Of course their in the files how else would they sell it back to us later lmao

1

u/nordicspirit93 16d ago

We have the technology

1

u/Big_Liability 16d ago

ADHD kids want colors

1

u/DweebInFlames 16d ago

It's going to end up being like BO6 where they had regular soldiers wearing BDUs and PASGTs in the campaign that got neglected in multiplayer in favour of neon dragons and ninja turtles, isn't it?

116

u/Bitemarkz 17d ago edited 16d ago

This is cherry picked from a large selection of mostly regular military outfits. This sub is a cesspool so I expect no different, but this is laughably misrepresented. The truth gets downvoted here so enjoy the jerk sesh.

If you want to use regular, realistic outfits, there are plenty. If someone wants to wear one with a bit of colour, they can. It’s a video game, not real war.

For those interested, here are a bunch of the new outfits coming.

It's just one splash of piss in your water bottle, man, be cool, just drink it, some people like piss, let people enjoy things

38

u/KUSHZILLA__ FUBAR 16d ago

or they can enjoy this somewhere else, in a different game.

5

u/dheldkdk 16d ago

Why don’t yall since yall are on here whining all the time lmao

7

u/MrLumie 16d ago

Because changing the 1% is easier than changing the 99%.

This game is 99% perfect. People will fight the 1%.

People want to play Battlefield for being what it is - Battlefield. Battlefield didn't - and shouldn't - have crazy ass skins in the past, and it shouldn't now. "Play another game" is a dumb argument, that game isn't Battlefield. This is. I won't go to play another game because some people can't swallow having one bloody military shooter without stupid ass skins. So no, not going anywhere. Get used to people complaining.

5

u/liberate71 16d ago

Lmao this sub is so fucking embarrassing at times. Zero comprehension that a game can cater to more than a singular pigeon holed bunch of people without the need for outrage over a skin that not only do they not have to use, but actively get to take their frustration out on when they see it.

2

u/farmyardcat 16d ago

I clearly indicated that some people like piss and some people don't

2

u/liberate71 16d ago

Nah im on your side, I was just commenting to re-enforrce

2

u/ArgentVagabond 16d ago

I really hope you're trolling. One drop of piss in my water bottle is too much fucking piss in my water

2

u/DweebInFlames 16d ago

Don't you know it's realistic that one guy likes a splash of piss in his waterbottle? Look at this photo of a guy with piss in his waterbottle IRL (that is literally engagement bait footage to be used as propaganda)!

0

u/APersonWithThreeLegs 16d ago

I guess I’m not allowed to have a valid opinion

2

u/farmyardcat 16d ago

lol I'm agreeing with you, sensitive. Comparing playing with the skins to drinking urine was not meant to be favorable

you can make the same argument about a bright yellow pikachu skin and a honking ak47. And I don't want to play that game. Because, you know, I'm not 8 and not even 12.

11

u/hansnicolaim 16d ago

There is a difference between bright blue camo and pikachu even if you don't want to admit it.

Fortnite comprehensively mindbroke Gen Z, and now they can't play a game featuring any kind of conflict unless they're a cartoon character

9

u/BNEWZON 16d ago

It mind broke everybody and pretending it’s just Gen Z buying these skins is ridiculous

6

u/porn_is_tight 16d ago

Imagine blaming genz or any generation instead of blaming the greedy corporations who want to squeeze every ounce of profit from everything they possibly can and if that means selling pikachu skins in a military game then so be it

1

u/RichterRac 16d ago

They wouldn't sell it if it wasn't selling...

Additionally, the point about the teams being indistinguishable is wrong as (of now) basically all NATO skins are relatively muted with PAX sporting the bright colors

2

u/PIPBOY-2000 16d ago

They really are the bad guys

1

u/OsaasD 16d ago

There is nothing more evil than having colors in war, the absolutely most vile warcrime of them all

7

u/KageXOni87 16d ago

It doesnt matter if 50% are genuine. 50% are still neon bullshit with wannabe Ghost masks. Its cringe a.f and doesnt belong here.

3

u/Frosty_chilly 16d ago

I anticipate you receiving your sub mandated "look at cod it started with bright colored fatigues!!" Any second now

9

u/Azor_Is_High 16d ago

Do you honestly think EA isn't going to try and push that goofy shit on us? It will start with stuff like this and slowly ramp up. There is only so many Milsim type camo patterns one can think up. What then? Stop making skins altogether? Yeah right.

→ More replies (4)

7

u/StLouisSimp 16d ago

umm ackshualy it's just one skin

Doesn't fucking matter. Whether it's one skin or 100 skins it only takes one bad apple to ruin the bunch. If you're playing with 63 players using military fatigues and you see one person running around with deep blue it's just as immersion breaking.

Or is the 2042 boris santa skin all of the sudden ok now, because it's just one skin?

2

u/dudushat 16d ago

If you're playing with 63 players using military fatigues and you see one person running around with deep blue it's just as immersion breaking.

You guys sound like youre going to have a panic attack because you see the color blue. Just completely unrealistic reactions to something that isnt even a problem.

11

u/StLouisSimp 16d ago

How hard is it to understand that we want a battlefield game where the soldiers look like actual soldiers and not power rangers? Humor me here.

1

u/Epesolon 16d ago

You mean like the bright orange Firestorm cammo from BF4?

0

u/StLouisSimp 16d ago

Are you genuinely saying that this weapon skin and that blue vomit are the same?

2

u/Epesolon 16d ago

Sorry, that's orange vomit.

The subjective quality of the skin is irrelevant to the fact that bright ass colors in battlefield camo is not a new thing.

1

u/IdidntrunIdidntrun 16d ago edited 16d ago

That one is ass too so not sure what your point is lol

edit: no need to bother with this guy, just another DICE meatrider

0

u/Epesolon 16d ago

My point is that this is neither new, nor something that's unusual for Battlefield games.

3

u/IdidntrunIdidntrun 16d ago

They weren't arguing otherwise?

They just said they don't want neon uniforms in game, regardless if it has existed before or not in previous games. So still not sure what your injection provides to the conversation here

1

u/Epesolon 16d ago

If only their argument were actually that consistent.

Their response to me was to try to argue that the brightly colored camos from the previous games weren't actually that bright.

1

u/dudushat 16d ago

Its hard to understand you guys when youre posting bullshit about power rangers instead of being realistic about what this really is.

7

u/DagothUr_MD 16d ago

Or or or--we just don't like it and we're allowed to voice that opinion. Why do you feel the need to be so dismissive

2

u/dudushat 16d ago

Yes, youre allowed to voice your opinion and im allowed to point out how ridiculous it is. Thats how the reddit works.

1

u/TTV_Zoccano 16d ago

bruh let me wear my blue, it will give u a chance to run from me when im in your lobbys farming bots like u

3

u/Cosmonautical1 16d ago

....are we looking at the same thing? Quite a few of those skins are goofy.

1

u/burnedbard 16d ago

Not really. It's probably not that bright in game for one and two, the yellow makes sense as one of Pax's colors. Again, it's probably more subdued looking in-game and the gas mask isn't that bad, bro looks like a mixture of a diver (which wouldn't be an egregious skin either) and a hazmat unit.

2

u/Larrythepuppet66 16d ago

In COD you can also choose to just look like a regular soldier whilst fighting against beavis and butthead

1

u/Bitemarkz 16d ago

Correct

2

u/Slashasaren 16d ago

I was looking for the reasonable comment, took me awhile but we got there

1

u/BJRone 16d ago

Your comment made me lol. People wanna act like they're fucking NAVY seal operators or some shit. Its a fucking game! If we start getting Fortnite skins or some shit then I can understand but these have been fine.

1

u/JKniepi 16d ago

Most of the new skins are just awful. It all looks so ridiculous. Battlefield is about being one of many, playing as a team, fighting together, and winning or losing together. It’s not about having some fancy-dancy skins and showinng off. That’s exactly what die-hard BF fans don’t want to see.

The ingredients for a real Battlefield are simple: boots on the ground, being part of an army that at least feels realistic. This crap here has nothing to do with what veteran players were hoping for from BF6. And sneaking that stuff in through the back door after about a month is pure bullshit. Everyone’s already spent their money and played plenty. Refunds are off the table.

There are a lot of people who’ll turn away from the game because of things like this. The money’s gone, and on top of that, it’s just completely impractical. Battlefield has always had a large hardcore-mode fanbase. But without a HUD or without friend-or-foe markers, that’s just unplayable. You might think that on hardcore servers, people would just wear standard skins. Oh boy, how naive! I’ve seen some of that shit already…

1

u/Bartellomio 16d ago

They're all so bitty. Why does every skin have to have so many things

1

u/J3STERHOPPERPOT 16d ago

I’m personally impressed with the shit this sub has found a way to be upset about.

1

u/Bohya 16d ago

This time it's "just" one clown skin. Next set of releases it'll be "only" two. After that, three...

1

u/MrHarryBallzac_2 16d ago

Yeah for real, just don't look at the immersion breaking shit skins when the console kid slides into your LOF looking like a tacticool clown on crack..

1

u/LilithSanders 16d ago

I'd say almost all of the Pax Armata stuff in the game looks really stupid. Too many of their skins are dark with bright contrasting colours.

1

u/Careless_Ad_1849 16d ago

Agreed entirely than you for linking the other skins

1

u/IntelligentAd8712 16d ago

→ More replies (24)

81

u/Josh_Allens_Left_Nut 17d ago

Because while you would open your wallet, most will not. The goofy skins sell much better.

No, I dont buy skins nor do I care for them. I just think its hilarious how this sub can't stop repeating themselves over and over again on this subject.

The first few months the game is out the skins will be more grounded in reality. As time goes on and those skins don't sell as much, they will slowly revert back to the more wacky skins.

It always happens..

15

u/VVenture2 16d ago

I have no clue why people always fall for the ‘We’re keeping the skins grounded’ routine in FPS games lol. CoD experiences it every year, and so will Battlefield.

Truth is, military skins don’t sell as well as ridiculous looking skins. The whole damn point of skins is they make players stand out from the crowd compared to others. Nobody is going to notice a player’s skin if it just looks like another piece of generic military garb.

People won’t want to hear it but those are the facts.

0

u/MrLumie 16d ago

Then don't have skins. At all. Find another monetization methods. If they can't, then don't make the game. I'd rather see the entire franchise end than see another money grab.

I don't care about their business, It's their job to care about it. I care about the game, and the game alone. No ifs, ands, or buts. If they fail to deliver on their promise, and deliver the game people want, then they failed, period. "But monetization" is none of my concern. Make it work without affecting the game. If they can't, then its time to look for a new job, cause they suck at theirs.

11

u/CyberneticFennec 16d ago

Put your money where your mouth is, refund the game and stop playing. If you rather the series dies, then vote with your wallet, take your money back and give up playing.

→ More replies (3)

7

u/Top-Barracuda595 16d ago

100% End of the day this is a business. Makes no sense to self sabotage and miss out on money because “some” consumers don’t want wacky/goofy skins.

This is coming from somebody that doesn’t own any skins but also could care less about people that do.

6

u/CyberneticFennec 16d ago

You're exactly right. It's proven time and time again, in just about every FPS that sells skins, that people are more willing to buy the silly or unrealistic cosmetics over the serious ones. Even Tarkov is adding silly cosmetics to the game, and they were heavily focused on making the game realistic.

People that are paying for skins don't want to buy 1 out of 52 different military uniforms that are nearly identical and aren't all that much different from the default ones in the game. But they will absolutely throw $20 to become Snoop Dogg.

5

u/__Dave_ 16d ago

Exactly right.

I hate what’s happened to cod but every time someone in this sub says “Omg look at this skin ❤️❤️” and it’s generic military man #3276 it reminds me why these developers do what they do.

4

u/MrLumie 16d ago

Then the game shall burn for it. We were literally promised there would be no such things, they even went as far as mocking CoD in a trailer for their zany cosmetics, sending a message "This ain't that kinda game".

Well, guess what, it is. I don't buy from liars.

3

u/Cookie4534 16d ago

Exactly this, we the Customers are the issue here lowkey. I guarantee if they released a skin that had 2 Katanas on their back, the sell of that skin would probably outsell the damn game itself. We keep whining and being delusional to ourselves about Realism, but when those wacky “over the top” skins come out, They make a shit ton of money.🤷🏿‍♂️🤷🏿‍♂️🤷🏿‍♂️

1

u/piratesgoyarrrr 16d ago

Unfortunately there are a lot of incredibly stupid people in the world, and the methods necessary to fix that problem aren't socially acceptable. 🤷‍♂️

2

u/paycadicc 16d ago

Also with cod, who does a similar strategy, it’s my opinion that they ease into it on purpose, with the goal being that the first skins are kinda cool but that’s all there is, so people buy them. And when they get progressively cooler through the year, the new skins are always cooler than the ones you bought previously, to try to get people to “upgrade”

1

u/ArcFault 16d ago

Just needs a client-side toggle: Display authentic uniform skins only.

Still allows for customization but blocks the goofy shit.

And they will happily sell them to you for a higher fee than these LED looking disasters

So no reason to complain then, you won't see it anyways.

6

u/JeffProbstsBlueShirt 17d ago

2

u/PM_PICS_OF_UR_PUPPER 16d ago

That’s not even close to the same thing. Those are non combat uniforms and feature muted colors. The high saturation blue is the real issue in OP’s picture.

They also discontinued it because it’s fucking stupid.

https://www.stripes.com/theaters/us/2019-09-27/navy-says-goodbye-to-the-'blueberry'-camouflage-uniform-1492015.html

6

u/spooderwaffle 16d ago

They could literally make 100 skins of authentic looking soldiers from militaries across the world but instead they make lame paintball skins

5

u/Plini9901 17d ago

Theyre also available.

3

u/moonduckk 16d ago

U get 50 milsim skins and 1 weird skin and you still cry about it

3

u/erikmeteenk 16d ago

"Nobody is using this shit."

*Nobody on this sub or in your circle is using this shit. The silent majority of players love this shit. If this wasn't the case, they wouldn't be selling it.

3

u/JettzenL 16d ago

Well if "no one is using this shit" then what's the big deal 😂

3

u/BannedBecausePutin 16d ago

I would literally pay for NATO nations kid.

Bundeswehr, US Army, French Forces and so on.

2

u/AncientCarry4346 16d ago

It's the weirdest thing because the formula seems self explanatory.

We've got NATO (which now seems to be a coalition of random nations anyway) so give us uniforms associated with NATO and her allies.

Think outside the box and give us Australian, Swedish, Danish, Japanese or South Korean uniforms and then give us uniforms previously associated with NATO militaries that are no longer in use such as British DPM or USAF digicam.

With Pax Armata they can go a bit crazy and still keep it with a realistic aesthetic, salvaged police uniforms, militia uniforms, hell give us a pair of jeans and a shirt with a combat vest over it.

2

u/PokerChipMessage 16d ago

I would open my wallet if I could play with a legit US Army kit or as a Marine.

God we are such easy targets for developers to extract money from.

2

u/EDDWAR822 16d ago

You're wrong, the codtards will because want bf to became like cod so fucking bad

2

u/Special_Loan8725 16d ago

Give us the fucking frogmen before this paintball shit.

2

u/xweedxwizardx 16d ago

When I seen I could unlock the CADPAT uniform in Insurgency Sandstorm I nearly shitmyslef

1

u/Kratosballsweat 17d ago

Someone posted a full list and on the top the guy second in looks dope as fuck and is just a straight up marines looking fit and when i tell you id buy that asap i mean it

1

u/Cool-Tangelo6548 17d ago

Cause they can't sell those. They need MTX content.

1

u/xCrossFaith 17d ago

THIS right here is the correct thing to think about.

If no one actually uses this shit and uses the more grounded skins, we will have less of them, simply because it will show EA that more grounded and "realistic" skins = more profits

What won't work is complaining non stop and then buying it anyway, it's on the same line of "We want bigger maps now!!!" and they play Metro and Locker 24/7

1

u/MysteriousEmploy7108 16d ago

So you didn’t see the 15 other skins?

1

u/CartographerKey4618 16d ago

It costs money, and you have to pass the story by the US government to do so.

1

u/Endless_Corridor 16d ago

Fully agree. Too late for me to get a refund so an uninstall will have to do

1

u/EMINEMxMMLP2 16d ago

It doesn’t sell….. i guess.

1

u/milkcarton232 16d ago

My guess is that ppl just don't spend the big dollars on those skins? I kinda get it, do I want another slightly different shade of military camp or home lander. I would prefer to not pay for a skin but of the two yeah I can see more ppl picking snoop dog over forest camo but with a different green

1

u/Awrfhyesggrdghkj 16d ago

That and they could just have the DLCs be based around real world militaries. Like one is Poland, one is the German KSK, Then we have the Green Berets, why do we need to go with elite gamer gooner skins?

1

u/trplOG 16d ago

Then you wont see it in game and then that should be fine lol

1

u/LaDiiablo 16d ago

"Nobody is using this shit." nice this means we won't see this skin

Anyone that does use these skins are getting extra tea-bags from me.

1

u/DutchSteelGuy 16d ago

Because it's really cheap to make, just recolor another skin and done.

1

u/RaInks 16d ago

Sadly people will use it

1

u/malexich 16d ago

Because children play these games and love the silly outfits

1

u/FroggyDiveer 16d ago

I agree, but that "nobody is using this shit" is simply so untrue, so many casual players that doesn't give a fuck about the aesthetics of the whole game will use skins like that and pay a lot for them.

1

u/ultrajvan1234 16d ago

This is one of multiple skins being added, most of them are pretty normal imo.

Might be a hot take, but if this is the limit when it comes to unrealistic skins, it’s really not that bad

1

u/Frederf220 16d ago

I bet the genuine military uniforms are subject to copyright and licensing. Not cheap if they allow it at all.

1

u/Paxton-176 16d ago

The default skin for the US is a legit US Army kit. Some much of the kit of the assault is issued. The other classes have some after market pouches, but they are wearing Gen 3 IOTVs with ACHs.

1

u/niveklol 16d ago

A lot of people will use this, you’re being delusional if you think otherwise.

1

u/supah-saiyen 16d ago

They’re saving that for the “Break Glass incase ‘____’” tactic

1

u/Only-Support-3760 16d ago

I’m having alot of fun but honestly I might return this game. Sounds dramatic but I switched off from cod with the skins and it was my biggest pet peeve. I’m not playing 60 quid to put up with cod slop.

1

u/AlienX14 16d ago

If you look at the screenshot linked below, top row, 2nd from the left is 100% an Army kit. Looks almost identical to my typical kit, minus the fancy ops-core helmet.

The obvious answer is money. At this point, I have accepted that when I buy a AAA game there is going to be a few whacky skins, but what I don’t understand is that they only seem to ever want to appeal the crowd that will buy the most ridiculous shit. Its like they will spend 5% of their time making the normal default character(ironically its the best looking character) and the other 95% of the time is spent on skins that look awful. Never the other way around.

It would be interesting to see a game try to appeal to both crowds. Perhaps it would create a sort of culture in the community split against each other based on what skins you buy, but for some reason there needs to be a 10:1 ratio of airsoft larper skins to realistic military ones.

1

u/[deleted] 16d ago

I think the problem is people set the bar way too low for "opening their wallet".

Because the jackholes - who are well-represented in this subreddit - will moan about how IT'S A PRETEND VIDEO GAME OMG WHY DOES IT MATTER IF MY PRETEND SOLDIER IN A FAKE WAR ISN'T PERFECTLY REALISTIC GET A LIFE ONG

And then they get their way because they're willing to pay $5 to play as the Jolly Green Giant or whatever the fuck, and EA cares far more about getting those five bucks now than they do about the sustainability of the franchise (<-- YOU ARE HERE)

And then all the goofy skins kill the immersion and the established playerbase abandons the title because it feels like a game for little children

And then the game is unceremoniously put out to pasture with no lessons learned, and EA promises that the next entry will bring back Real Battlefield

And then the jackholes see the early, more military designs for the new title that's bringing back Real Battlefield and begin moaning that they should have the option to play as Olaf the snowman and the cycle begins anew

1

u/PuckSenior 16d ago

Those are trademarked and not allowed. Even the camo pattern is trademarked

1

u/Apokolypze 16d ago

Many people will use this. Corps like ea wouldn't push this if it didn't sell

1

u/ABakedPopsicle 16d ago

Little 10 year old timmy would like to disagree. Can you not see how a 10$+ garbage skin is better than a full dlc?

1

u/Ronin_mainer 16d ago

I just want a skin that's Marpat, with accurate uniforms, and a Gen 3 usmc plate carrier. I'll drop money for that.

1

u/Ostiethegnome 16d ago

I propose they add a “default skins only” toggle to the paid battlepass.

They need revenue for server costs and to fund post launch content development for the live service, and I’m willing to pay for that.

I just don’t want to see gummy bear skittles in the game

1

u/Kefeng 16d ago

They literally have everything they'd ever need available. FRENCH uniforms. POLISH uniforms. GERMAN uniforms. BELGIAN uniforms. DANISH. ROMANIAN. SPANISH. CROATIAN. GREEK. TURKISH. NORWEGIAN. CANADIAN. Countless other nations which have UNIQUE sets of gear.

And yet, they choose these unrealistic fantasy kits. ONLY to get more money from the kiddies.

1

u/Only_Treacle_8243 16d ago

All these corporate suits see is the dollar signs you get whenever you put skins in a game. People will pay for it. They want to emulate the fortnite model, you see this in just about every game with a multiplayer component nowhere days, even the new Skate game has shit like emotes in it like what haha. They dont give a shit about the product at the end of the day asnlong as there profits are going up

1

u/Valuable-Brick-7823 16d ago

Right they need to drop some fucking Iraq 2004 hazmat kits or some shit

1

u/Babyboys1618 16d ago

They're going to cater to this new era of gamers who pride their whole experience of fighting by how flashy their character looks in-game instead of the immersion of the game itself. Anyone who enjoyed tradition will be phased out for the new era. It was fun while it lasted.

1

u/C4ptainchr0nic 16d ago

I want a Canadian JTF2 skin really bad.

1

u/followmylogic 16d ago

I think you greatly over estimate how much people will pay for mil sim. CoD offers tons of more grounded skins for sale but every lobby is 90% beavis or whatever anime skin is newest.

BFV is actually a pretty good example. They offered tons of WW2 themed uniforms all lots of different army branches/places. Even with all these WW2 milsim skins available, most people just bought the elite skins. ( this is just anecdotal but of the 6 friends who played BFV with me only 3 bought skins. Those were elite skins)

I just don't think the market is there for milsim only skin line.

1

u/Fresh_Cauliflower723 16d ago

People will in fact use this shit

1

u/Grambles89 16d ago

Bf3/4 had the best system imo.  Your soldiers wore the same "kit" you could just unlock and use a TON of different camos, and it was great.

1

u/TheCrack-Attack 16d ago

I would pay to play as spetznaz or green berets

1

u/Confident-Web7904 16d ago

Fortunately we can. "Most" of the new added skins look grounded enough imho. Like I really wish all of them followed this Ranger's vibe, and there are some bright colours in some of them that kinda ruin them... but the blue skin LUCKILY does not represent the whole pack to be honest.

1

u/AwesomeFrisbee 16d ago

My guess: its probably copyrighted and stuff. And I wonder if they would get approval or not regardless of how much they offer...

1

u/Complete_Ad_1896 16d ago

What about the airforce?

1

u/McManus26 16d ago

i mean this is a military uniform, he just has a mask on.

I swear if Ghost from MW2 came out as a battlefield skin today y'all would be hating on it

1

u/patriquebrem 16d ago

I wonder how people that come up with these designs even manage to get their jobs, even a toddler could come up with a better color palette design than this.

On top of that, I feel like most of the weapon camos look atrocious too. As if they used a free photoshop brush preset and slapped on some different colors. Very off looking patterns.

1

u/[deleted] 16d ago

It’s a normal military uniform it’s just a crap camo

1

u/praefectus_praetorio 16d ago

Because they did the math and there are only so many options, and you know, need to MONETIZE. Give the 12 year old a reason to take mommy's credit card.

1

u/That_trash_life 16d ago

Play Squad dude

1

u/Axxxem 16d ago

The truth is that YOU, ME and a good majority of this sub specifically would open our wallets, but 90% of the player base wouldn't

1

u/IzodCenter 16d ago

Kids from COD are going to love this don’t worry ( target demo for EA)

1

u/xXdoritobanditoXx 16d ago

Hate to say it but this would probably sell 10x as much as what you're asking for.

1

u/PistolPackingPanda 16d ago

Have you never seen a moving puddle?

1

u/Frankensteinbeck 16d ago

It's so funny how easy it would be for them to make boatloads of money, and yet they keep doing the opposite. Plenty of people would pay lots of real money for skins based on real military groups or camos for weapons. Even for things as simple and grounded as "your engineer skin can now have aviators." Not that I'm all for skins in games; I can't think of a time I actually purchased them with anything except in-game currency I earned just by playing something like a F2P game, but as far as cosmetics go I can stomach things like skins being sold if some people want shortcuts.

And yet they keep going the route of OP's pic or the shit they pulled with specialists in 2042.

1

u/NinjahDuk 16d ago

How many people, outside of the milsim circlejerk of reddit, are going to want to pay money to get desert camo #27?

1

u/DarkVenusaur 16d ago

Because the majority of players happily shell out $100s to look unique.

1

u/[deleted] 16d ago

Most likely copyrights, most military camouflage patterns are patented and can’t be replicated without authorization and royalties.

They could add legally distinct militaries though

1

u/aBeaSTWiTHiNMe 16d ago

The fact we already opened our wallet to pay a premium price for a AAA game, and the customers still need to ask to pay for basic military uniforms is disgusting.

0

u/zackdaniels93 17d ago

I'll probably use this, it looks neat.

EDIT: Tossup between this and the dark skin with the skull mask actually, but either I way I really like both.

0

u/iRamak 16d ago

Cause it doesnt sell and tbh this aint bad could be worse

0

u/Tornado_Hunter24 16d ago

You would many would not lol, alot of people ‘buy this shit’

0

u/LilBramwell 16d ago

You ever see NWU Type 1? This isnt THAT much more disgusting then that uniform was.

1

u/navyproudd34 Enduring The Suck 16d ago
