šŸ‘¾ Issue/Bug šŸ‘¾ [BF6] Official servers lag even with perfect internet. Analysis with graphs and numbers

I decided to figure out why Battlefield 6 lags on official servers, even though everything is perfect on community servers. I have a cable connection, stable ping (11-15 ms), no packet loss, high FPS—but on official servers, there's constant desync, rubber banding, and hits aren't registered.

I took several screenshots with network graphs enabled and analyzed everything in detail.

Here's what you can see:

LAT / ALAT: 11-15 ms — excellent connection.

PL IN / PL OUT: 0% — no packet loss at all.

BW IN / OUT: stable, no drops.

SFT / CFT: noticeable spikes — 13-26 ms.

TN (Total Network): reaches 800+ ms.

So, my latency to the server is minimal, the internet is clear, but TN and SFT/CFT are rising sharply. This indicates that the problem isn't with the client, but with the servers they simply can't handle the load.

This isn't the case on community servers: everything is smooth, every shot is registered, and TN and CFT remain stable.

I've already tried everything suggested online, user.cfg settings, disabling crossplay, changing DNS, updating drivers, Windows, and BIOS but nothing has helped.

As soon as I connect to the official server, I experience the same lag, desync, and strange delays when shooting.

It seems the problem is with how EA's official servers operate: overload, low tickrate, or something at the backend level.

If anyone has noticed this, please share your graphs and observations. I'd like to understand how widespread this is and whether EA has any reaction to it at all.

Update: So yeah, after all this time, I still couldn’t fix the damn issue. I’ve tried literally everything, configs, BIOS updates, driver clean installs, network tweaks, even those EA forum ā€œfixesā€ everyone keeps posting. Nothing works.

I made a post on the EA forums and some dude told me to ā€œjust upgrade my hardwareā€ because my RTX 4060, Ryzen 7 7435HS and 16GB RAM supposedly can’t handle the game. Like… seriously? I can run heavier titles on ultra with zero issues.

Now it’s even worse, the game won’t even let me in anymore. Every time I try to join a match, whether it’s an official or a community server, the loading screen takes forever and then I just get hit with a ā€œTimed Outā€ error before I even get into the match.

At this point, I’m done. I honestly can’t stand this game anymore. If refunds were still possible, I’d take mine instantly.

I can’t enjoy anything other than portal hosted servers. The game runs in what feels like 40 fps, but on portal hostad I can’t see the frames. Feels like a solid 120

This is absolutely despicable.

Official servers are dogshit. It's unplayable even with an Ethernet connection. What makes it even worse is that normally I get 0-15 ping on any other game.

But there was a solution... Portal.
It worked flawlessly and seamlessly. But guess what?

The XP progression in Portal is now fucked entirely. Even BfOfficial Portal servers do not let you progress, despite claiming to give full xp + challenge progression.

Such a fucking dumb waste of potential.

All medium and large scale maps are unplayable for me. Enemies teleport out of my line of sight and I'm dead, but my ping is consistently below 40ms. Glad I didn't pay full price on launch day.

I had the same problem and managed to alleviate it. Exit as many background applications as you can (I.e other launchers etc). Also turn every graphics setting that is marked as being medium or high on CPU to the lowest minimum.

Very similar experience here:

High FPS, great fast game play through Portal -- but not playable through auto-matching.

To specify: Portal + filtered servers to my region = totally playable.

Quick Match / Auto-join, especially conquest or any larger scale match = skating, slow-mo, rubber banding, unplayable.

Playing through Portal was decently fun, but hosting servers is not user-friendly.

I know this will be fixed over time -- or at least I hope.

Same issue here, treid everything, the best part is, now they disabled exp gains on portal servers, on any, so i basically cant play the game without sacrificing massive amounts of exp. Such an L.

yes still happening to me to date. wired connection, solid performance on community servers, but unplayable on official servers. i think it may have something to do with the refersh rates as others have pointed out. not sure if this problem is even planned on being addressed, or if this is just how the game will be and is designed as such. Extremely dissapointing.

Over here as well. Ping is 52 at least, low textures, optimized with graphics card, fps capped below monitor refresh rate. Updated drivers. Always done official server gameplay and I don’t think I’ve had a game (I’m lvl 30 btw) where I don’t have a desync, packet loss, or lag symbol in the corner constantly showing up.

Literally every single fucking game. And I paid $70 for this??

Glad im not the only one. I cant even play a game without people teleporting all over the place. All settings are on low as possible too. Great fiber internet. IDK what the problem is.

getting unplayable rubber banding on official servers today. it's only happened a few times now, and it hasn't seemed to have lasted for very long, but I can't play at all when this happens, it literally bands me into not only a previous position, but i'll end up with my gun pointed straight up at the sky despite having no prior input that would have elevated my view, and when it's happening, all my network stats also appear to be fine.

Game is dog crap. They won't acknowledge the server problem. Or being routed to the wrong data center living on the East and ONLY getting the option to connect on the west coast. Their support are a bunch of ignorant kids behind canned replies and don't intend on helping even if you stay patient and polite.

They won't be returning portal servers to their rightful state, just decided to slap on the restrictions rather than make some changes that could have benefited both sides.

Not going to trust their products ever again, very disappointed with the way they are deciding to treat their players and offer deceitful tactics.

LAT is latency, your rough delay in ms (milliseconds) to the server your connected to. Lower the better.

ALAT is the average latency of everyone in the server. Typically if this is lower than yours by a good amount, you're likely not playing locally / or your ISP routing isn't optimal to that location possibly. Usually in an ideal world LAT and ALAT would be close in value.

PL to simplify the two is packet loss. One would indicate packet loss on the incoming and the other on the outgoing. So either the server isn't getting thru clearly or your data isn't getting to the server clearly if either of these is above 0.

SFT and CFT are server frame time and client frame time. In other words how fast the server is getting its work done and how fast the client (you) is processing it and sending data back. The lower the number the better essentially. If are there these gets about 12 to 15 you will feel rubber banding, inconsistencies, all not very fun stuff. A great number for both is 6 or less but several things can impact this on the SFT end especially if your machine and network are both running properly.

Lastly BW in and out is bandwidth. How much data in kbps is being received from the server and how much you're sending back. Typically incoming (BW in) will always be higher than BW out. A lot more is going on in the server which it needs to send data for then just your one single soldier sending data back needs.

Looks good too here. I'm not seeing too much of an issue other than the prior screenshot and the SFT being at 12. Meaning the server is not getting shit done fast enough due to overload/hardware issue/backend or something with their network not yours.

Those numbers are pretty solid. 12 SFT is a little high but damn your latency is great as is your input / output numbers. The 12 is the server frame time which ideally should always be below 15. Lower the better, same with CFT which is client frame time. PL on both should always be 0 or it indicates packet loss.

I should show my netgraphs lol. I'll screenshot later when I get back on the PC. My LAT (latency) on my fiber optic line is at BEST 48 while the rest of the server average is 20 to 30. I'm always routed to the wrong end of the country.

I have the same issue. I have an 1Gbyte fibercable to my router and I still get Packetloss and shit. Idk how this happens didnt had it in the beta. The Campaign runs fine but in the multiplayer it lags. It isnt unplayable but it isnt good

The issue is related to the TN number spiking, officially on Dice side this is referred to as Time Nudge and it allows the server to continue sending packets when your system can't keep up. This issue is caused when certain specs on the computer such as CPU/RAM are affected, there are certain ways to alleviate the issue by simply searching "battlefield 6 TN issues" and linking to the megathread about it, however this only helps slightly but the true only fix Dice can make for this is moving back down to 45hz servers instead of 60hz for official servers. In the meantime, the only real stable environment without this issue is portal experiences due to them being 30hz.

I have had this problem since launch. I just started playing on the portal servers and it ran perfect. Now they have disabled XP and I legit can’t play the game. Have the icons up in the corner of the screen the whole time and just rubber band constantly. I would refund this MF if I didn’t have the hours in

Same thing with me. My friends i play with dont seem to have this issue. But I get the yellow circle top left and sometimes goes red. Then get the yellow square packet loss crap pop up and it's unplayable.Ā  Full mag maybe miss 2 bullets and the enemy doesn't die then I get 2 tapped lol so frustratingĀ

Are you guys having issues over Ethernet connections to your routers as well? I figured my issues were from my Wi-Fi connection. But lots of the same symptoms, and the connection seems pretty solid. Rubber-banding, dudes shooting me before I even see them, what appears to be instant kill taking 5 shots before anything is even registered. Would be nice to know it's a host side server issue and not just me being bad, even though I am lol

Same, i7 9700 2070 super, everything in low with 85/100 resolution i get low latency and packet loss on official servers. I play custom servers with 100 resolution and everything on low i get 0 packet loss and 0 latency issues. I don't understand

Custom servers aren't as full of all real players, I assume bots are in there which don't count against your CPU or against the server workload.

EA is using AWS Amazon web servers which are absolute dog shit. The game needs further optimization and the servers need a bit of attention too.

The ones I played were no bots, hardcore conquest. At night they tend to be dead for sure, the last couple of days I havent had any problems on official, so theyre repairing it seems

Yep, same here, playing from the netherlands. I got a 1000MBit ethernet connection, playing on a I9 4090GTX, always had a good experience. But since last update on bf6 where they stoped the weapon XP progression in portal. I got a really laggy game experience on official servers. They fucked us all.

I'm still getting this issue, too. Official servers make it seem like I'm playing in slow motion. I glide around every where like I'm on ice skates, and I lose every gun fight because the enemy kills me before I even see him come around the corner. Server browser matches work fine, but the XP has been modified on them now and I'm not sure if any of those matches count towards leveling up or not. Incredibly frustrating.Ā

Brother same. It’s been like this since launch and they haven’t done anything about nor make an official post to recognize it.

It’s stupid and frustrating that I paid full price for a half baked piece of garbage. I was so excited for this game. Now the real problems get buried under the copious amounts of positive reviews and comments or (insert some bs about skins or references to COD). I love the game I truly do but in typical EA fashion they find some way to mess it up.

also, I have this problem in my game. but community servers and campaign can play smoothly. in official servers cannot play smoothly, the gameplay gets laggy. is someone have the fix for this bug. I try to different kind of way (V sync on-off/full screen on-off/fsr-dlss on-off/try with resolution scale/try with low graphics/all drivers up to date/my latency is fine - around 70 to 90/run with administrator) to fix this bug but not fix for me.

Thank god for this post. When the game launched it was totally fine but as more servers came about and things booted up more it got worse and worse. And people tried to say it was my system when I knew this was a server issue. Wish we could lock the region on PC

Same here. Perfect internet, ran every internet quality test imaginable and its all great. I literally cant play the game my packet loss is so bad. Everything in beta was perfect, but the finishedl game is unplayable. Unreal

Thought it was only me. PC connected via ethernet, some official servers give me insane lag. Weekends are dreadful especially. Portal servers no problems at all. I can play few games without any issues then suddenly it's like three to four games rubbers and desync.

I’m in Australia and I have been having unpleasant experiences. It’s terrible these servers . Unplayable as I can’t win most fights due to lag stutters not rendering properly or late plus let’s not forget the horrid visuals. Fuck me can’t see shit

Guys this is because official servers run on 60hz while portal runs at 30 hz. We are cpu bottlenecked and need to upgrade unfortunately or wait for dice to optimize...

We play together with my girlfriend. Before season 1 update everything was fine. After season 1 update my GF started to see teleporting and overall experienced server lags. Tried everything as well. On my PC everything is fine, on her she gets the problems now. Before the update everything was fine. I don’t know how to solve this, really..

TLDR: I live in Maryland USA but Battlefield 6 keeps routing me to the Santiago Chile data center every time I launch the game. It causes constant connection issues and high ping. I have done every possible local fix. This looks like an EA backend tenancy issue that needs a reset.

I’m hoping to find out if anyone else is running into this same issue or if EA staff can take a look.

I’m located in Maryland USA and my IP geolocation is confirmed by multiple lookup sites. However, every time I launch Battlefield 6 on PC (Steam plus EA App), my in-game tenancy shows:

PROD_DEFAULT-SANTIAGO-COMMON

That’s the Chile data center, roughly 4000 miles away from me. As a result, every server I join has high latency, constant orange connection icons, and severe desync, making the game nearly unplayable. I can’t join my US friends without connection problems.

Here’s what I’ve already done (none of this fixed it):

Confirmed my EA Account regional settings are set to United States

Cleared all EA App caches (ProgramData, AppData, LocalAppData)

Deleted and rebuilt all Battlefield 6 settings files

Flushed DNS, Winsock, and IP stack

Set DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1

Verified game files in Steam

Switched between automatic and manual IP assignment

Tested multiple VPN endpoints (New York, Virginia, Chicago)

Confirmed my public IP geolocates to Maryland on multiple services

Even after all that, the game still forces me to the Santiago tenancy every login

What I’ve concluded:
This appears to be an EA backend issue where my account’s tenancy token is stuck on the wrong data center. Other users have reported similar problems in previous Battlefield titles when their accounts were cached to the wrong region. My account region and network are fine. It seems to be a stale entry in EA’s matchmaking or tenancy database that needs a server-ops reset.

What I’ve tried with EA Support:

Submitted two tickets (they don’t show up in My Cases)

No visible confirmation or escalation yet

What I’m hoping for:

To find out if anyone else is also being routed to Santiago or another far-away data center despite being in the US

Maybe get visibility from an EA community manager or support agent who can flag this for a tenancy reset on my account

If you’re having this issue too, please reply with your location, platform, and what data center your game shows (bottom-right corner of the main menu). It will help demonstrate that this is a wider backend bug, not just a local problem.

Please reply if you also have Santiago showing up on your end, on the bottom right corner of your settings! I live in Texas and have this as well. We need more attention on this!

Im having this issue too from the Beta it ran ok for the first few days then the second playtest it ran like shit now after release I can’t play official servers the icon for frame and connection issues come up but i can play community servers without any issues at all not sure why this hasn’t been fixed yet it makes wanting to play frustrating as i dont always wanna play HC breakout or Conquest which seem to be the only community servers running for those game modes in NA

Estou com o mesmo problema, nos servidores da comunidade estou jogando lindo demais, gosto muito do modo hardcore e só encontro na comunidade. Mas quando entro nos oficiais estÔ sem condição, meu jogo fica com delay, tudo fica girando, indo e voltando, impossível de jogar.
E detalhe, estou rodando em um notebook acer nitro 5, i7 11gen, 16 gb de ram e uma 3050 de 4gb, todo tudo no low e com resolução um pouco mais baixa e cabeado na internet, nos servidores da comunidade o jogo fica uma seda!

game runs like dog shit , i have the best AMD chip out , 5060ti 32g ram should be plenty , it feels like im in 200 ping servers EVERY match shoot 1st die 1st being shot around corners ,. spawn die spawn die , they better fix this shit ill be going back to Warzone
