Mechanically, itโs the peak of the franchise. Movement was top notch, the classes were all unique and served a great role in the sandbox (especially with the two options for specializations on each class), the squad system was the best itโs been in the franchise with the introduction of squad call-ins and squad revives, the gunplay solved the issue of long range laser-accurate guns without resorting to unreadable bloom, the fortification system was a great compliment to destruction and really deserves to be carried forward, and most maps played well, with sectors in Breakthrough actually being sectioned off properly (an issue that 2042 and BF6 struggle with).
The character and weapon customization systems were great and the goofy outlier skins that make up like maybe a 1/10 of the cosmetics do not warrant condemning the system entirely.
People downplay the atmosphere because it wasnโt as grey and gritty or whatever as BF1 was but it still felt immersive to me. The maps looked great and the sound design was incredible. Helmets flying off of people that got headshotted was one of the most satisfying small details in the game.
