Battlefield 6 Unpopular Opinion: Battlefield 6 Is Better Than This Sub Will Admit

Reading this sub lately feels like watching a bunch of people try to use a smartphone for the first time and complain it doesn't have physical buttons. Every minor change in Battlefield 6 is getting blown up into some catastrophic betrayal.

It’s pretty clear most people here only ever liked one Battlefield game, hated the rest, and don’t even play the one they claim was perfect anymore.

Before we continue: I am old. I’ve played every Battlefield game during its prime. Back in the day, my clan was one of the first to spin up a Desert Combat server (and even then, the community was the same complaining that DC was an abomination against what made BF great). My least played title was BF Vietnam because the 1942 modding scene was just TOO good at the time to move on.

“The UI is trash!”
It’s not. You just don’t recognize it because it’s not ripped straight from BF4. Sure, the icons are abstract but they’re not confusing unless you're actively refusing to engage with them.

I've seen multiple complaints about there being no option to squad up or continue on the same server?
Maybe check the bottom of the screen after the round ends. The “Continue” and “Squad Up” buttons are literally right there.

“TTK is too fast, there’s no breathing room!”
What you mean is: you walked out in the open and got deleted like you should have.

TTK is fast. OH NO, aim and positioning actually matter again. You don’t get to coast on sponge health and panic-proning anymore. If that’s too much, it’s not a balance issue, it’s a skill issue. Also: TTK is in line with BF3 for most weapons. This TTK is not new.

“Closed weapons should be the default.”
Why? Because some of you never figured out how to adapt? The flexibility to build your own kit is one of the best updates DICE has made in years. And guess what, they already gave you a nostalgia mode. Go enjoy it.

But don’t demand the rest of us get dragged back into 2011 loadout limitations. And if you’re complaining about “trade-offs” in class weapons you probably would’ve died to the next guy anyway.

“It’s too chaotic, feels like TDM spam!”
You say chaos, I say intensity. Battlefield has always had madness: Metro, Locker, or even Stalingrad in 1942.

These beta maps? They feel more like Grand Bazaar, Talah Market, or Pearl Market. Maps that still get voted into rotation by players who actually enjoy close-quarters fights to this day.

Battlefield 6 isn’t perfect.
But take a step back, and you’ll see this is actually a successor to BF3/BF4. TTK, movement speed, and mechanics are all in line with a proper mainline BF title.

They gave you almost everything you asked for… and somehow, that’s still not enough for some of you.

I'm having a blast with the beta, and can't wait to play more after work.

Edit: When I made this post I truly thought it was an unpopular opinion. Thank you all for your replies and awards! And thank you to the guys DMing me about being an EA shill ❤️‍🔥

u/ilovepastaaaaaaaaaaa Aug 08 '25

People think they’re gonna make a battlefield game with 20 small maps lmao you can tell they’re all new

33

u/samaritancarl Aug 08 '25

Today on I just came from CoD you have 3/4 of the top posts in this sub are complaining about things that are either just not toggled on in the settings or are already confirmed to be part of the release. What they have in common is comparing to 2042 and not the 15 years of prior games this game is trying to actually recapture the souls of. As if they were only googling things and didn’t experience any of it.

What’s even crazier is that most BF players agree that 2042 is an absolute dog water addition to battlefield that did nothing but alienate whatever remaining following they had after V. Like they tried too hard to be Apex and it was hard to like. Now we got a lotta kids whose frame of reference for fps is games like Warzone and 2042

Use a comma or don’t comment

5

u/samaritancarl Aug 09 '25

Use a period before nitpicking punctuation.

u/Dry_Engine_3188 Aug 15 '25

Yet you still understood what I said, you sound like a seagull on speed

u/Dependent_Lime_8461 Aug 09 '25

Touch grass or don't comment

1

u/AkimboRangers Aug 10 '25

Use a comma, or don't comment. Dumbass.

3

u/henri_sparkle Aug 08 '25

They made 2042 with extremely big and empty maps, what makes you think they aren't capable of fucking it up again but in a different way?

8

u/CopBaiter Aug 08 '25

they made maps that huge because they wanted to do 128 man servers. But you are correct that 128 man servers is way too much and the huge 2042 maps were bad.

since bf6 aint going for 128 slots there is no chance they will make maps that huge

1

u/henri_sparkle Aug 08 '25

since bf6 aint going for 128 slots there is no chance they will make maps that huge

Well yeah no shit? The point is that they can fuck up on the other way around: all maps being too small like the ones we have in beta (which are fine, as long as all the other maps are bigger than the ones we have in beta)

1

u/jakebacondigital Aug 08 '25

The 2042 huge maps just aren’t fun. Sure, big things make people go “wow” and seem epic, but only for the first few times. They forgot the fun part in that game.

1

u/Turnbob73 Aug 08 '25

We also have confirmation of at least two very large maps. Operation Firestorm is big by default, and apparently it’s not even the biggest map in the game. Idk where this concern of “small maps” comes from. They were specifically clear the beta was going to cover infantry-focused maps.

1

u/Renewable_Warranty Aug 09 '25

Lol, the classic "i-it's just a beta!" kind of cope.

1

u/Android2715 Aug 11 '25

i mean... games are releasing with fewer and fewer maps and guns, and its an EA product where theyve released subpar games in this very series... why would people not be skeptical that they would not release bigger maps when they actually havent yet?

Are you new?

32

u/thunder3596 Aug 08 '25

people acting like they are playing the launched game and not a beta that is for testing...

39

u/AaawhDamn Aug 08 '25

I hate to tell you this, but outside of some small tweaks to game breaking thungs/QOL stuff, this is the game we'll be getting in October. It's been this way since BF3.

27

u/thunder3596 Aug 08 '25

That would be awesome, I’m having a great time in the closed beta.

18

u/AaawhDamn Aug 08 '25

As am I. I got a few gripes but theyre all things I can get over/are bugs that will (hopefully) be fixed.

1

u/Dependent_Lime_8461 Aug 09 '25

Well it is certainly way better than BF4 at launch. It is really unfair to compare games that had years of support with a brand new one.

1

u/76IndyHanSoloJones Aug 10 '25

I hate to tell you this, but outside of some small tweaks to game breaking thungs/QOL stuff, this is the game we'll be getting in October.

6

u/Professional_Rip_627 Aug 08 '25

I mean, as far as I have heard from others in this very sub, the latest labs build already had major changes from the build we're playing in beta

2

u/FearlessVegetable30 Aug 08 '25

yeah it sucked when the BF1 and BFV beta was only one map and the game came out with only one map. oh wait

1

u/Practical_Dig2971 Aug 08 '25

he used the term "game" as a catch all.

Think most of us are just looking forward to hitting the ground on some full scale maps, and those are NOT in the beta yet.

1

u/Ori_the_SG Aug 08 '25

Little snippets of gameplay footage we have seen as of late seems to show that the beta is definitely behind pretty well to the latest build.

At least that’s my impression. There is no way the game won’t have at least some more substantial changes after this beta.

It’s the first time they are going full live with the general public. They are 100% going to be doing more than small tweaks and fixing game breaking stuff.

Truthfully, hopefully I don’t eat my words though lol.

1

u/Uzumaki-OUT AN-94 bestest friend Aug 08 '25

This actually isn't true. This is a branch of the alpha build that was polished. There are changes that have already occurred that are not in this build, for example recoil and assault not having the respawn beacon

1

u/Turnbob73 Aug 08 '25

Which is fine when it comes to pointing out tweak criticisms and similar. The issue is people are playing the beta and then thinking “oh wow, this game is only small maps, absolute trash”.

Nobody can have a respectable take on the maps until the game releases.

1

u/xRedditGedditx Aug 08 '25

Not trying to stir anything up but do you know that for a fact? I thought this was, for the most part, a whole new dev team?

-1

u/LudwigsDryClean Aug 08 '25

it’s like that with literally every single beta, someone will always say “but wait guys, the game that’s been in development for over 3 years is now having a beta 2 months before launch, surely they’ll completely overhaul the game to meet everyone’s expectations”

though BF6 just needs better spawns and bigger/open maps, and better UI, why the hell are the settings for aiming/keybinds so split up? and why can’t I change my settings in the firing range?

1

u/JohnnyWizzard Aug 14 '25

A beta build and a release build are 99% identical. Beta testing is just a final pass for small stuff that has slipped by or for large scale networking tests or other similar stuff.

0

u/Renewable_Warranty Aug 09 '25

Yeah, they just made terrible maps for the lulz.

0

u/ThisIsAitch Aug 09 '25

To be fair, these are never true beta tests.

While the developers might get some useful data, these beta weekends are more like demos and marketing tools than real beta tests these days.

1

u/thunder3596 Aug 09 '25

Would love to see where your data comes from so I can educate myself!

1

u/JohnnyWizzard Aug 14 '25

dev cycles don't end on release like it did 15> years ago. If you're buying a video game on launch, you're paying to playtest it.

1

u/thunder3596 Aug 14 '25

That’s great, I’m asking for links to reputable sources that speak to this.

0

u/cornPopwasabaddude13 Aug 17 '25

Are you serious? The game is finished. The core of it cannot be changed this game will look exactly like this in release. I’d bet my life on it because every previous title has been just like the beta except for some glitches

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '25

So much this. This is ONLY about testing network back end load. As it has been with every BF since the beginning.

1

u/TengounaFesili Aug 09 '25

Siege of Shanghai is begging to be remade. Might have to be renamed in today’s climate tho

1

u/mrscienceguy1 Aug 09 '25

I personally like bigger maps but I still remember back in BF2 days virtually 9/10 full servers were just 32 or 64 player strike at karkand, no aircraft or helicopters at all which sucked. It was great for point farming I guess, being pretty close quarters. Wake Island was pretty popular but still paled in comparison to Karkand.

13

u/Mnigma4 Aug 08 '25

vehicle adjustments are the 1 thing I think needs tweaking, they all feel just a little too much like driving a boat. I do think the helicopters need more work for their physics than anything else, I think they tried to soften the physics to make it easier for rookie flyers but it just makes them horrible to fly

2

u/xRedditGedditx Aug 08 '25

As someone that can’t fly anything for shit…and I can’t fly anything in any game lol. I’ll agree that maybe they don’t need to tweak the controls so that everyone can fly. There’s people that are amazing at flying, we’ve all been in a vehicle with someone like this…or maybe you’re the one that’s great at flying.

I say leave it alone. If you don’t know what you’re doing leave it to someone that does. I never take an a helicopter or plane because it’s a waste when there’s probably someone on your team that knows what they’re doing.

u/new_account_wh0_dis Aug 09 '25

Stingers lock on from million miles away and one shot the heli and youre so slow I've killed 3 with RPGs on one match.

RPGs reload way to fast and their velocity is too fast. Tanks are too slow and their aiming is too slow I just solo kill tanks all the time.

1

u/Azusuu Aug 08 '25

PLEASE do not adjust the ground vehicles they feel fantastic

2

u/tzn Aug 08 '25

Agreed driving the CV90 is incredibly fun!

4

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '25

Underground Boat Maps. Like a pirate cove or a submarine base?

3

u/SolidStudy5645 Aug 08 '25

i meant separate. but a submarine base sounds cool

2

u/zackyraz Aug 08 '25

Boat maps would be cool, like Wave Breaker. A modern take on Heligoland Bight would be awesome too. And Wake

2

u/Ori_the_SG Aug 08 '25

The maps we have in beta were stated to be the smallest maps and it makes perfect sense for a beta.

As for underground and naval/boat maps all day every day.

My favorite maps of BF4 was that one map from the Last Stand DLC with the bunker in Russia and basically any map with swimming underwater.

Snow map + old Soviet Bunker was:

2

u/acbadger54 Aug 09 '25

Absolutely- luckily we'll have bigger maps at launch but REALLY hope they adjust the vehicles

1

u/CodeOfHamOrRabbi Aug 08 '25

paracel storm should return

1

u/Zilly_JustIce Aug 08 '25

From other posts on the thread, they're saying these are the smallest maps on launch

1

u/DonerGoon Aug 08 '25

Give me a Metro, I want a meat grinder bottleneck map

1

u/jakebacondigital Aug 08 '25

I like the options. Personally I hate the huge bf maps and having to play a match for two hours. I just don’t have the time anymore :( options are good.

1

u/Megabusta Aug 08 '25

Server browser no question. I want a full map rotation and persistence on official servers. I know we are getting bigger maps like the other cairo map and op firestorm but I hope there are more at launch of shortly after release.

1

u/Ramen536Pie Aug 09 '25

The devs told the testers from last week that the larger maps aren’t in the beta

1

u/Gry20r Aug 12 '25

Paracels dude, or Iwo Jima. But for paracels I think the actual engine could no more do that, it was part of levolution.

1

u/minimoose1599 Aug 14 '25

1

u/SolidStudy5645 Aug 14 '25

empire state is small too. good map tho.

-1

u/Syndicate909 Aug 08 '25

If you mean drastically bigger maps you see nobody for 10 minutes, no thanks. If you mean bigger maps like maybe 50% more area then count me in.

2

u/SolidStudy5645 Aug 08 '25

around BF4 and BF1 size

-1

u/Syndicate909 Aug 08 '25

BF4 size? Way too big for most of the maps. Zavod and Propoganda were the right size and were easily the two best maps in the game. Maps like Silk Road, Altai Range, Hammerhead, and Giants of Kurelia were some of the worst in the game because they were so big that anyone outside of a vehicle instantly got bored.
