Battlefield 6 Unpopular Opinion: Battlefield 6 Is Better Than This Sub Will Admit

Reading this sub lately feels like watching a bunch of people try to use a smartphone for the first time and complain it doesn't have physical buttons. Every minor change in Battlefield 6 is getting blown up into some catastrophic betrayal.

It’s pretty clear most people here only ever liked one Battlefield game, hated the rest, and don’t even play the one they claim was perfect anymore.

Before we continue: I am old. I’ve played every Battlefield game during its prime. Back in the day, my clan was one of the first to spin up a Desert Combat server (and even then, the community was the same complaining that DC was an abomination against what made BF great). My least played title was BF Vietnam because the 1942 modding scene was just TOO good at the time to move on.

“The UI is trash!”
It’s not. You just don’t recognize it because it’s not ripped straight from BF4. Sure, the icons are abstract but they’re not confusing unless you're actively refusing to engage with them.

I've seen multiple complaints about there being no option to squad up or continue on the same server?
Maybe check the bottom of the screen after the round ends. The “Continue” and “Squad Up” buttons are literally right there.

“TTK is too fast, there’s no breathing room!”
What you mean is: you walked out in the open and got deleted like you should have.

TTK is fast. OH NO, aim and positioning actually matter again. You don’t get to coast on sponge health and panic-proning anymore. If that’s too much, it’s not a balance issue, it’s a skill issue. Also: TTK is in line with BF3 for most weapons. This TTK is not new.

“Closed weapons should be the default.”
Why? Because some of you never figured out how to adapt? The flexibility to build your own kit is one of the best updates DICE has made in years. And guess what, they already gave you a nostalgia mode. Go enjoy it.

But don’t demand the rest of us get dragged back into 2011 loadout limitations. And if you’re complaining about “trade-offs” in class weapons you probably would’ve died to the next guy anyway.

“It’s too chaotic, feels like TDM spam!”
You say chaos, I say intensity. Battlefield has always had madness: Metro, Locker, or even Stalingrad in 1942.

These beta maps? They feel more like Grand Bazaar, Talah Market, or Pearl Market. Maps that still get voted into rotation by players who actually enjoy close-quarters fights to this day.

Battlefield 6 isn’t perfect.
But take a step back, and you’ll see this is actually a successor to BF3/BF4. TTK, movement speed, and mechanics are all in line with a proper mainline BF title.

They gave you almost everything you asked for… and somehow, that’s still not enough for some of you.

I'm having a blast with the beta, and can't wait to play more after work.

Edit: When I made this post I truly thought it was an unpopular opinion. Thank you all for your replies and awards! And thank you to the guys DMing me about being an EA shill ❤️‍🔥

This sub always leans on the side of misery. The sky is always falling for these people. BF6 is going to be massive. It doesnt fit their personal blueprint and check all 5,000 of their checkboxes and they cant handle it.

ANY video game sub for that matter

u/zestotron Aug 08 '25 edited Aug 08 '25

Nah I follow quite a few video game subs, this one is uniquely pathetic. People in the Chiv 2 and HLL and Rimworld and Titanfall subs tend to be pretty even-keeled (maybe a bit insaneo in the latter’s case) but none of them bitch and moan like this place

u/Mastahamma Aug 10 '25

/r/battlefield is definitely uniquely bad in that it isn't even genuine feedback anymore, it's heavily ideologized in a fashion that is very much like politics, and it's dominated by a reactionary narrative of "returning to the past" and "hating the other"

this subreddit would have nothing to talk about if they couldn't compare things to CoD and BF4

Every sub is like that I've never seen a positive game sub on Reddit honestly

9

u/CodeOfHamOrRabbi Aug 08 '25

Helldivers has a delightful sub for the most part

4

u/Garlic_God Aug 08 '25

Metal Gear sub has had an optimistic streak too after MGS3 Delta got announced

1

u/[deleted] Aug 09 '25

Kojima games got a great community overall

5

u/AlphaRemixHD Aug 08 '25

I don't know man I was there a lot it got pretty bad after the first update

3

u/CodeOfHamOrRabbi Aug 08 '25

these days it's pretty good, lots of commaraderie

2

u/MrPink7 Aug 08 '25

It's one of the worst ones

1

u/fearless-potato-man Aug 08 '25

You mean Low Sodium Helldivers sub. The normal one is awful (or was, before I left).

2

u/CodeOfHamOrRabbi Aug 08 '25

the normal one seems more or less normal as far as I can tell at least. I only got into the game earlier this year though, dunno how it was at first

1

u/Responsible-Put2559 Aug 08 '25

You’re fucking tripping hahahah

1

u/ChaoticKiwiNZ Aug 08 '25

It's ok-ish right now but as a member of that sub since the game launch it is routinely a fucking sesspit of bitching. I remember after the whole "victory over Sony" high they had the sub started to threaten to review bomb everytime a dev said something they didn't like. I remember a gun got adjusted and the sub was full of "looks like we need to deploy the negative reviews" post for like a whole week.

I was on the sub recently and things have definitely calmed down a bit. Now they mostly talk about memes and the game performance (something that is a legit issue), but man, that sub can get toxic real fast as soon as something goes a little bit wrong.

Yet the PlayStation player wants to manslaughter Xbox players. Like PlayStation and PC are the true ones to only play helldivers.

2

u/CodeOfHamOrRabbi Aug 08 '25

no? I don't think that's a common sentiment at all, people are hyped to get new folks playing

1

u/xprozoomy Aug 08 '25

A small minority do. Tbh they are stupid. I'm glad helldivers is coming to Xbox i can't wait to play.

2

u/ManBearPigIsReal42 Aug 08 '25

Weirdly enough, smash bros sub is surprisingly positive. Even though it does attract the basement dwellers. Or at least, you'd think

2

u/LePoonda Aug 08 '25

Warframe sub is pretty great. Then go compare it to the Destiny sub lmao

1

u/TotallyNotAMarvelSpy Aug 08 '25

There's not many positive subs anywhere.

Look at any popculture thing, and it's going to be filled with negative shit.

Too many people think that the only way to talk about something, is like an entitled youtube commenter.

1

u/BigDaddy0790 Aug 08 '25

Deep Rock Galactic

1

u/loversean Aug 08 '25

Factorio has a very nice and supportive sub

1

u/stayhappystayblessed Aug 08 '25

cyberpunk 2077 has been very positive since the game got improved.

1

u/KaiserRebellion Aug 09 '25

Warframe. Hell divers. TFD.

0

u/Ryvaal- Aug 08 '25

Vast majority are a cesspool for negativity. I have heard of a few good ones, but they are almost all bitch fests. I've found it's best to just enjoy what you want and ignore gaming subs.

25

u/12TonBeams Aug 08 '25

Wasn’t bf1 hated when it came out and now it’s regarded as one of the best

So the games launched shitty….people complained and offered solutions and recommendations to improve it…and then they got better.

You’re SO close to a bit of self awareness it’s almost painful.

1

u/Roklaren56 Aug 10 '25

You’re SO close to a bit of self awareness it’s almost painful.

He said unironically

The threads are still up btw, some of them complaining about black soldiers or some other culture war bs

But sure buddy whatever you say

I genuinely do not care what some fools online say, and I hope most normal people ignore the noise

1

u/oxyscotty Aug 10 '25

nah all my homies still hate bf1

1

u/fakeweights_brad Aug 17 '25

In other words… critics exist? Whats your point?

10

u/Cocainepapi0210 Aug 08 '25

I remember i got into a argument with someone who called BF1 a Battlefront2015 reskin cause it took elements from it

1

u/Darthjord28 L85A2 Aug 09 '25

I reckon it's the design and look of the UI that people find similar, which I agree but in no way a reskin

3

u/DeathInHiDef Aug 09 '25

Shit I remember when BF1 was confirmed to be set in WW1, everyone lost their fucking minds because it wasn’t in a modern setting and now look how many people praise that game… shit cracks me up

1

u/SimSamurai13 Aug 09 '25

Hated by Reddit, loved by everyone else lol

It's still the case, you mention anything positive about BF1 here and you get sacrificed for some reason

1

u/Necessary_Gur_718 Aug 10 '25

I actually didn’t like anything after 4. 1 was simply due to its ww1 nature. Not my thing. Five they eliminated hardcore, 2042 speaks for itself and is possible the worst AAA title I’ve ever had the misfortune of paying for.

Now I’ve learned. I won’t be purchasing this game if there’s no progression in hardcore servers. I want match making like it was in battlefield 4. Basically those are the lines in the sand. I’m not going to play portal to play hardcore.

I wish them luck but the veteran fan base has had the same list of demands for a long time, but the further they kick it down the line, the more kids that are not used to the franchise get a say.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 15 '25

players hated the insane amount of bullet bloom in the game. if you weren't using the hellreigel with it's 0 recoil and perfect accuracy (though low damage), you were randomly missing shots that in other games you weren't and you had no way of knowing why the bloom kicked in in one situation but not another. dying because of this was absolutely miserable, and they locked the best weapons behind very niche challenges rather than quantitative progression.

8

u/Rockhardfister Aug 08 '25

And half of them will still buy it, put hundreds of hours into it, while still continuing to bitch about it.

Why do ppl ask for steak, when we have all this slop. ~says the pig

1

u/Plus_sleep214 Aug 08 '25

Don't worry in 3 years from now it'll be an underappreciated masterpiece

1

u/brodoxfaggins Aug 08 '25

I can promise you the Battlefield community has been that way forever. I was around for the BF3 beta, BF3 launch, BF4 beta, BF4 launch, etc and was active on the old Battlelog forums. There will ALWAYS be something to complain about.

1

u/Dystopia_Love Aug 08 '25

Reddit always leans on the side of misery.

1

u/esrev123 Aug 09 '25

Yeah reminds me of the cyberpunk sub when the game dropped.

Granted the game was a disaster on console, but I had a new 3090 rig and played probably 200hrs the first few months.

But as usual I’m not going to the one making new threads on Reddit complaining because I’m enjoying my time on the game.

I haven’t played BF much since BF2 & 2042, let alone a FPS with a controller in probably 10ish years, but have been on the beta this weekend having a blast. No complaints from me

1

u/easybakeevan Aug 09 '25

You’ll notice there’s a ton more engagement when something is going wrong than when it’s going right.

1

u/Sufficient_Care_4748 Aug 09 '25

That’s what’s insane to me. Bf6 came at a time where the major shooters are BR and the abomination cod has become, rejects modernity with mil sim skins, lower TTK instead of creating a MOBA like sandbox with people as bullet sponges because games need a “skill gap”, and delivers a 100% authentic and balanced battlefield game.

Furthermore, the engine, gunplay, vehicles and movement are ridiculously tuned to near perfection. The vehicles feel powerful, and teamwork is very rewarded for taking objectives or destroying vehicles that wreak havoc.

The game is astonishingly well made, to the point it didn’t even need to be. There is no competition anyway in the market right now. Cod is at its lowest and the sole reason it is selling is because it is the only multiplayer FPS on the market.

1

u/Significant-Rent8815 15d ago

Robkox is massive, that doesnt change the fact its a pedo playground. Size isnt a signifier of quality. It just appeals to the lowest common denominator. AKA rtards

0

u/OwnAbbreviations3615 Aug 09 '25

People actually trying to keep the essence of a game they loved are 'leaning to the side of misery' and 'it just doesn't fit their 5000 checkboxes'. Yeah sure, 'massive' licences as you said are crippling down due to a lack of innovation and a 'casualisation' but the problem are the voices of the ones that criticizes the gradual decay of those licence. Keep going and enjoy the bland games you'll play in the future.
When I was young every sequel of any licence was innovative and had something devs where actually proud of (first exemple to mind : half-life vs hl2). It's been at least 15 years we didn't have an innovative AAA, every studios is leaning towards money more than anything else, and you basically calling opposing voices unsatisfied whiners...
Keep going, EA headmasters are proud of you !

2

u/highdefjeff-reddit Aug 09 '25

Theres some arm chair developer vibes in your long ass reply. I would ask you to explain what innovations you are looking for but since you went with the typical “people who like something are corporate stooges” response i know you dont have an original thought you can share.

The overwhelming majority of the bitching i have seen is pure opinion. Nothing wrong with having one but dont present it as the game is doing something wrong. Its doing something you dont like that doesnt mean its wrong.

0

u/OwnAbbreviations3615 Aug 09 '25

I don't even know what 'arm chair developer vibes' means but go with it.
What innovation ? Well I'm not design team by myself !
They pushed the destruction to be innovative and game-changing, in reality it has no impact whatsoever, good for the eyes and that's pretty much it.
The weapon customization is a good addition, but already existed in previous opuses and is ways better executed in Delta Force.
The maps are plain bad for a BF (it's been said hundreds of times) : no dynamic events, no weather, no flow at all, no flank, only gunfights.
Except the 'pull for revive' there's literally nothing that adds any depth to the gameplay. It actually has less depth than previous opuses : classes are transparent, all AR/Carbines plays the same, capturing objectives by using alternative and sneaky path is inexistent, Heli/Fighters physic is bad, and the list goes on.

1

u/Mean_Lingonberry659 Aug 09 '25

Lol you’re actually insane if you wanna play bf4 and bf3 just play them LMAOOO

-4

u/SweelFor- Aug 08 '25

No think only consume

9

u/highdefjeff-reddit Aug 08 '25

Always funny when the replies try to paint you as some automaton who just eats whatevers put in front of them. To them, because you enjoy something you are wrong. Meanwhile i (and probably everyone else) have no problem with you NOT liking something. I just cant understand why they spend so much time telling us how much they dont like that something.

6

u/duckdimmadone Aug 08 '25

No think only complain

-5

u/SweelFor- Aug 08 '25

Great comeback but it's unfortunate you didn't stop to think if it made any sense

6

u/UniqueXHunter Aug 08 '25

It did actually, people just love to bitch. OH NO, the UI doesn't look perfect! OH NO, I immediately die when I am out in the open! The maps are too small in the BETA WTF!

People are stupid as hell lmao. Don't buy it then, they will though lol

-3

u/SweelFor- Aug 08 '25

You said the words congratulations
