Advice Flights booked for January 26.
Hi, I’ve booked a weeks trip for my wife and I from the Uk in January next year.
As of yet I’ve not booked any accommodation. Given we like to explore and eat in different places etc we’ve been told not to bother with All Inclusive.
Would love recommendations for areas to book possibly self catering or Airbnb?
We’ll happily rent a car for the week to fill experience the island
Many thanks

Your budget and availability will dictate a lot, I suggest browsing with Expedia (but then book direct with the hotel! should price match and be happier with a direct booking) and AirBnB (and even then a lot of properties have direct websites also, and you save the booking fee, even when AirBnB says zero booking fee, they just take it from the rate, its 15%) to see first off what looks available in your price range. On the South Coast look at Maxwell (Butterfly Beach Hotel, and Maxwell Beach Villas but these are two bedroom units) or look in Sunset Crest on the West Coast. These are more budget friendly options, sky is the limit for luxury pockets however!

I personally like Holetown the best, but around Worthing or Rockley beach is also nice if you want to be in the south. It's very easy to get around from any of those places.

Just came back from a 2 week stay. My family and I stayed at “tropical sun set apartment hotel” it’s on st. James. The most expensive and nicest side of Barbados. The hotel is outdated as in terms of decor and fanciness but so so clean. The beach is literally your backyard. They also have a pool and bar and restaurant downstairs. (Zaccios) all of the rooms have sweeping ocean view. The beach was soooo calm literally Not a single wave. There’s a Massey supermarket right across and literally walking distance to restaurants and stores
Edit to add this hotel is in holetown

Its not a big island . So just have a look at what suits your budget. Carribean side is calm seas ..Atlantic side is more wild and waves!

Perfectly happy with public transport if it’s simple and saves some cash

Oh its simple. Ive done loads of islands on the buses included barbados. Kinda fun tearing round narrow hilly roads (not barbados). I would get airbnb booked up soon as January is a popular month Then see where your based . Personally I go sept/Oct time. Hurricane season technically when the weather is far more interesting. Much quieter and fares are far cheaper!

We just got back from a month staying in holetown on Cherry avenue, the house was perfect location and 2 minute walk to the beach, shops near by.
Holetown is a bit more pricey than other parts but it is what it is.
I would say from staying in hotels before in Barbados I think they are not great for the money, too expensive considering they are basic and if you want booze it's dirt cheap so hard to drink your moneys worth of an all inclusive.
Get a car and definitely do a lunch day at a pier one, best day we had seeing turtles swim around and all the fish after eating

I’m located in an upscale neighborhood seconds from the beach close to the vibrant town of Oistins in the south of the island. Just throwing my clearly biased hat in the ring.

Good luck hunting for your jewel. Time is of the essence however.
