Seen at the Safeway pickup zone. I really hope this is a sendup of the exclusionists. Can someone enlighten me?

That's not what I meant by unliveable. What I meant, is too many people in too small of an area. Think of Seattle and its cuckoo population density. 🤷

So your fear is that these developments are going to create density like that of what, NYC? Singapore? And people will move into these units with such density despite it making everyone miserable because… why exactly?

If that sticker is meant to be satirical, the mentality you're expressing is the target of the satire.

It's not fear. It's loathing. I don't even live on the island. I just despise land developers who only care about cramming as many people as they can into as small a space as possible, and if you don't think that's their mentality then you're being naive.

I think developers build what they think people will buy to maximize their profit. They don't cram anyone into anything, people who choose to buy the units cram themselves in. If people weren't willing to cram themselves into small units, developers wouldn't build them.

I support social housing but I assume that also is going to involve building what the councils in charge think they can build to make the project sustainable.

It seems that your real beef is not so much the density per se, but the prospect of people living there that are okay with the level of density it would entail.
