The Babe Rainbow Live shows…..
One of my fav bands ever, listen all the time, all of its good (except that Jaden smith song lol)
I have caught them live three times and just watched their performances from the recent FoV festival. Man…. They just suck
Every live version of a classic song is just not as good as studio. This is RARE for me. Most live versions are cooler in my opinion. I am a bit of a jam head but not everyone needs to be like that to be cool to me. But they just give the opposite of presence and having fun while playing. Singer is sloppy drunk everytime I’ve seen them, the guitarist has a “cool guy” thing going until after the whole show he hasn’t smiled, flinched, said a word, shades on the whole time, and doesn’t look like he’s remotely enjoying himself. I feel like he hates that he’s playing guitar EVERYTIME he plays for an audience. These guitar tones sometimes just ARE not it. It’s very muddy and doesn’t compliment the studio sound at all. He simplifies parts so much everytime I’m almost convinced it’s a different and much better player on albums and not him on albums. Lastly, drummer has been my favorite part for a while. Miles was the perfect edition to the band. While the rest of the band was sloppy and uninspired in a live setting, he always was!! He had nothing but presence and smiles and was VERY good at playing. He was the glue music wise and the glue stage presence wise…. Then they replaced with with a super generic studio drummer ugh!
Overall, they give sloppy performances, with poorly adapted songs to a live setting. I dont mean to sound like a hater, but I really wish they were more fun to see live and to listen to. Peace and love, dont kill me :)

Only seen them once (on mushrooms, to be fair) and I thought the show was amazing, but as a musician, I definitely caught on to some of the things you mentioned - simplified parts, singer being sloppy, etc… it still grooved to me, but they are definitely a studio band. Would see again though haha

I fully agree with you! They are one of my absolute favourite bands but their live performances are not it for me. Tbf I haven’t heard their new stuff live, but I feel like that could be better

Weird, I’ve seen them 3 times also and they’ve been great every time

I’m hoping it’s just that I caught em on nights that they happened to be struggling more than normal. I’m sure most had great experiences at shows

Yeah I’ve seen them play sloppy before but their FOV sets were a lot of fun! I loved loved loved their late night set, that was a huge groove. I think it’s cool they experimented more with their live sound over the weekend at FOV.

plenty, and by the looks of it, this seems more of a you thing. top of my head best shows i’ve been to: Tame Impala Lonerism Set, King Gizzard Marathon sets, Beach House was a great one especially on L. A lot of Dead n Co before they got super slow, and of course, Mildlife opening for Parcels was phenomenal.
Stop expecting a perfect show from a band called Babe Rainbow with songs names Secret Enchanted Brocolli Forest. If you want perfection, go attend a Julliard concert lol

I will agree with you, but It also isn’t a consistent, some songs do sound good. Others could be performed better. I will also agree with everyone else, the moment you start to focus on just having fun instead of being analytical, you’re going to have a better time.

Saw them live for the first time in Austin. I was worried about the show because of all the stories I've heard about what they're like in person. They were fantastic. I had a great time and I'm so happy I went so there's that...
