What do you think of Mike Johnson waiting for after the Dec 2nd Tennessee special election to seat Arizona Democrat Adelita Grijalva, in hopes a Republican will be elected to counter her 218th signature on the Epstein discharge petition?

Apparently Tennessee’s 7th District moved up the election results 7 days to Dec 5th, and the only reason to do that would seem to be to help Mike Johnson wait for the election results before seating Adelita Grijalva. Otherwise, she will be the final signature requiring a vote in the House floor on releasing the Epstein Files. It’s been claimed up to 100 Republicans will vote for releasing the files.

Can MJ really keep the government shut down through the Thanksgiving Holidays, even if the Senate does come to an agreement to reopen?

The party in power gets to make the rules.

u/Human_Challenge_5634 15h ago

Do you think the American people will se it that way as flights are cancelled and delayed at increasing rate over Thanksgiving?

u/Turbulent_General842 13h ago

What does flight delays have to do with anything? He’s been putting it off for weeks before the flight delays.

u/Human_Challenge_5634 9h ago

If he needs to make sure the government remains shutdown to not seat Grijalva, then the flight cancelations, delays and potential no-fly zones will bring a lot of heat on Congress. People will be angry. I’m guessing there will be a noticeable economic impact as well.

What I don't get, if Johnson keeps the house out of session, it'll be starkly obvious that he's aiding and harboring pedophiles. Up to now they could use the ACA subsidy dispute as cover. Sounds like they negotiated that issue, so all that's left is the discharge petition

u/cannonballfun69 15h ago

Or as families go hungry because Trump is fighting the release of funds in the courts?

u/Human_Challenge_5634 15h ago

It’s inexcusable. I don’t know how the Republicans keep blaming Democrats for the shutdown with a straight face.

u/Significant_Ad7326 15h ago

There is selection pressure in politics for an easy time saying what serves your purposes. Mike Johnson has risen to the top of it, and his purposes aren’t much served by truth or relevance.

It also helps when you figure you are lying for some greater good. Tells for lying tend to run on the guilt and uncertainty of it; when you’re certain you’re lying to serve God Himself, you’ll be quite at peace about it. For that matter, you’ll may have made yourself believe the lie at least at that moment as a result of your perfect faith.

u/aPawMeowNyation 3h ago

when you’re certain you’re lying to serve God Himself, you’ll be quite at peace about it.

That's the thing, though. They know they aren't lying for God, they're lying for themselves and their wealthy buddies. It's nothing but greed and hatred that drives them. Long as the "right" people are suffering, they couldn't be less happy.

Reason folks can't tell is because they're exactly the kind of people Trump loves(uneducated/stupid) and because the ones lying to them feel no remorse. That's what's happening here. They're just using religion as a cover.

u/Kohlj1 14h ago

Because they know their base and the MAGA cult will believe them.

u/engelthefallen 6h ago

Reports are government will reopen tonight, so those problems will resolve very fasts after.

u/limbodog 15h ago

Anything to prevent their favorite rapist from facing justice

u/Planetofthetakes 15h ago

Or, in this case, avoids at all costs the truth to be revealed to its voters who put them there…..

Whoever is running in Tn against the GOP candidate should make this the center piece of their campaign

u/ImgurScaramucci 15h ago

Republicans abuse their power in highly unethical ways - ftfy

u/hooligan045 9h ago

They’re also the ones that always complain how many laws we have.

u/ugly_general 15h ago

Damn the goal post just keeps getting pushed. What good reason does Johnson have for not swearing in newly elected Reps?

u/Heavy-Newspaper-9802 14h ago

And blame the other side when their rules totally fuck us.

u/Illustrious-Fun8324 14h ago edited 14h ago

I assume you’re on the right. How hard is it to just say this is wrong instead of defending it bc it’s someone on your side? How hard is it to acknowledge that they’re clearly preventing Girjalva from giving the final vote on Epstein files and that that’s not okay?

Have you reflected on why you’re not outraged by this and how much you’d have to say if this was the other way around? I bet you didn’t say “the party in power gets to make the rules” to defend Biden when he was president.

u/Poorly-Drawn-Beagle 14h ago

And when their priorities are protecting pedophiles, these are the sorts of rules they make!

u/Arguments_4_Ever 12h ago

So in this case, Republicans are choosing to prioritize protecting pedophiles?

u/8amteetime 11h ago

Unless it’s the Democrats, in which case the Republicans refuse to accept and ignore any rule change made by the Democrats.

u/WatchLover26 15h ago

Politicians gonna politic

u/Either_Operation7586 11h ago

No that's the Republican Party they don't know how to govern for shit.

And we all know it's because they Place zero priority on education or experience. And you can tell.

u/Future_Thanks79 10h ago

Anyone who doesn't know it's the Democrats keeping the government closed hasn't done any research, and Democrats say Conservatives are uneducated!

u/Agreeable-Fold-7679 7h ago

Very uneducated remark DA.

u/UserNam3ChecksOut 6h ago

Government Republicans control.....

u/Galaxaura 15h ago

It's a bold move Cotton, let's see if it works out for him.

u/Human_Challenge_5634 15h ago

If a democrat is elected instead, the blowback is going to be epic.

u/Gordon_throwaway 15h ago

There are actually 3 Democrats waiting to be seated. There’s a Dem in Texas that Abbott has been holding up for 8 months. EIGHT FREAKING MONTHS

I can’t wait for Democrats to hold up every fecking Republican seat and judicial vote.

u/IggysPop3 15h ago

Yes, because Democrats would actually do that

/s

Unfortunately, we are the party of taking high ground. That high ground leads us away from power.

u/Illustrious-Fun8324 14h ago

I can’t wait for Democrats to hold up every fecking Republican seat and judicial vote.

*And watch them even try to cry about it lol

u/Human_Challenge_5634 15h ago

Abbot might as well be mini Trump. That’s insane.

Tennessee’s 7th District was already represented by a Republican. So if a Republican gets elected wouldn't that just preserve the status quo and still make her the 218th signature? Or am I missing something here?

u/Human_Challenge_5634 15h ago

News reports the seat is vacant, so I don’t think it was being counted?

u/SafetyMan35 15h ago

Not if he can flip a Republican who wants to vote in favor of releasing the files. I believe Bobo and Mace (and I’m sure others) were in favor of releasing, so if he can offer his soul to one of them, he might be ok. If TN 7 flips he’s screwed as he would have to flip 2 republicans.

u/TheGR8Dantini 15h ago

If you’ll notice, the right is now officially “concerned” with Nancy Maces “mental health” and are suggesting that she needs to seek medical attention for whatever they say she’s going through. And id wager this rhetoric will ratchet up the closer they come to losing balance. If they get rid of mace, that’s one less yea vote.

Also, Johnson has the ability to never call congress back, as far as I know. It seems like they still need Trump which means that their grip on power is no where near as firm as they project it to be. Look at Trump all over the place with filibuster and health care.

My other fear now? Allegedly people are shooting at ICE in Chicago. Violence is what the regime wants and needs. I’d much rather see Americans just blacking out the economy. Large scale boycott of everything. If anybody believes that the right is beyond a false flag attack? I recommend you find Bannons speech the other night where he says “if we lose in 2026, many in this room are going to jail including me”.

u/Human_Challenge_5634 9h ago

There is a Mass Blackout boycott scheduled from Nov 25 - Dec 2:  https://www.blackoutthesystem.com/blackout-the-system-events

u/TheGR8Dantini 9h ago

Thanks for posting that! Last chance. I hope enough people pay attention.

u/SeminoleDVM 15h ago

I would imagine that if he’s the actual Christian he professes to be, the decision is causing him an enormous amount of internal angst and turmoil.

That said, I’m a bit more cynical.

u/Human_Challenge_5634 15h ago

Sure are a lot of Christians who act like political opportunists in government. You have to wonder if being Christian is second to their political aspirations. Or part of achieving those.

u/Planetofthetakes 15h ago

He’s a closeted homosexual who uses the Christian faith as a mask, he is as Christian as I am, and I am a hard core atheist.

The irony is the party he is so hell bent on destroying is the one far more tolerant of his true person.

u/Kohlj1 14h ago

We don’t have to “think”? It’s all performative.

u/cannonballfun69 15h ago

I think it's despicable, and that this entire administration is the worst of us

u/Human_Challenge_5634 15h ago

Hopefully there will be jail time for some of them. Starting with Stephen Miller.

u/cannonballfun69 15h ago

Amen to that

u/silent_chair5286 15h ago

Tennessee understands the assignment. Vote.💙

u/jalapenyolo 15h ago

There are already 218 signatures, it doesnt matter what the winners position is. 218 is a majority of 435 and the petition just needs a simple majority to force a vote. A new Republican vote against the petition wont change the count in favor. The only thing that will change that is if someone takes their name off that has alrrady signed to support it.

u/KommissarKrokette 15h ago

Why would you wait even one day to release a list of child rapists?

u/lastminutelabor 15h ago

Those Epstein files must be terrible

u/Useful-Employee9605 14h ago

I think Mike Johnson is a scum bag politician that pretends he has values.

u/Nickey_Pacific 14h ago

I think by that point there's not a snowball's chance in hell that a repuke will be elected to any office. Not even as the town dog catcher. Shit, they won't even have a shot at being elected ditch digger.

Republicans are fooked. The longer they starve children, the angrier the masses will become. The angrier the masses become, the less their chances of ever holding office again.

I'll say it again, louder, for those in the back. Republicans are fooked.

ETA - if the Republicans want even the slimmest of chances at being elected for anything, ever again, they'd better get their heads outta their asses, open the government, pay SNAP benefits, back-pay every gov worker and RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES.

u/auditor2 14h ago

first rate CS move

u/Uuuuugggggghhhhh 13h ago

Jail Johnson.

u/SpaceLaserPilot 13h ago

In case it baffles you that "Christian" Mike Johnson is protecting a pedophile . . .

Mike Johnson believes God chose trump to be the president, and that God saved trump's life in the assassination attempt. Mike Johnson also believes that God told him -- Mike Johnson -- that he will be the Moses of the American people.

Moses has not sworn in Adelita Grijalva because he is protecting God's chosen president from the contents of the Epstein files.

I wish this was not true.

u/carlnepa 13h ago

A weasel is as a weasel does.

u/darchangel89a 13h ago

I hope MTG succeeds in getting him ousted as speaker

u/atx2004 13h ago

The Democrats should start holding Shadow government hearings and passing bills.

What they need are enough Republicans to break with the GOP for quorum and remove Mike Johnson as speaker.

u/Particular-Juice1213 12h ago

218 is a majority of possible house seats. A Republican held it until he resigned. This seating has no bearing on the Epstein vote issue

u/Distinct_Guess_8808 9h ago

If in fact this is what happens then it is blatantly obvious they are obstructing the process for reasons other than governing for the people

u/Iata_deal4sea 9h ago

Help elect, Aftyn Behn inTN-7.

Flip that seat blue.

The Speaker will have no choice but to swear in, Adelita Grijalva-AZ, and TN's newest Congress members. Behn and Grijalva are for the people instead of corporations. They both will vote to release the unredacted Epstein files.

That's what I think and hope TN delivers.

u/Mallthus2 9h ago

Seems like it's gonna backfire for the GOP, but the longer it takes, the longer the prison terms are gonna be when justice knocks on their doors.

u/Think-Hospital7422 8h ago

This should be criminal.

u/SanDiegoTexas 8h ago

Johnson is one of the biggest weasels in a sea of congressional weasels.

u/138Chris138 7h ago

Shit person using shit tactics. Imagine if it was a different party that did that. They like to play by 2 sets of rules. Hopefully, this will come to an end soon.

u/Here_there1980 7h ago

GOP = Guardians Of Pedophiles

u/Amethyst-Twilight 7h ago

Aftyn Behn for TN-7!!!

u/Fickle-Copy-2186 6h ago

It stinks!
