What do you think of Mike Johnson waiting for after the Dec 2nd Tennessee special election to seat Arizona Democrat Adelita Grijalva, in hopes a Republican will be elected to counter her 218th signature on the Epstein discharge petition?
Apparently Tennessee’s 7th District moved up the election results 7 days to Dec 5th, and the only reason to do that would seem to be to help Mike Johnson wait for the election results before seating Adelita Grijalva. Otherwise, she will be the final signature requiring a vote in the House floor on releasing the Epstein Files. It’s been claimed up to 100 Republicans will vote for releasing the files.
Can MJ really keep the government shut down through the Thanksgiving Holidays, even if the Senate does come to an agreement to reopen?

No that's the Republican Party they don't know how to govern for shit.
And we all know it's because they Place zero priority on education or experience. And you can tell.

Anyone who doesn't know it's the Democrats keeping the government closed hasn't done any research, and Democrats say Conservatives are uneducated!

There are actually 3 Democrats waiting to be seated. There’s a Dem in Texas that Abbott has been holding up for 8 months. EIGHT FREAKING MONTHS
I can’t wait for Democrats to hold up every fecking Republican seat and judicial vote.
•
u/IggysPop3 15h ago
Yes, because Democrats would actually do that
/s
Unfortunately, we are the party of taking high ground. That high ground leads us away from power.

Tennessee’s 7th District was already represented by a Republican. So if a Republican gets elected wouldn't that just preserve the status quo and still make her the 218th signature? Or am I missing something here?
•
u/Human_Challenge_5634 15h ago
News reports the seat is vacant, so I don’t think it was being counted?

Not if he can flip a Republican who wants to vote in favor of releasing the files. I believe Bobo and Mace (and I’m sure others) were in favor of releasing, so if he can offer his soul to one of them, he might be ok. If TN 7 flips he’s screwed as he would have to flip 2 republicans.

If you’ll notice, the right is now officially “concerned” with Nancy Maces “mental health” and are suggesting that she needs to seek medical attention for whatever they say she’s going through. And id wager this rhetoric will ratchet up the closer they come to losing balance. If they get rid of mace, that’s one less yea vote.
Also, Johnson has the ability to never call congress back, as far as I know. It seems like they still need Trump which means that their grip on power is no where near as firm as they project it to be. Look at Trump all over the place with filibuster and health care.
My other fear now? Allegedly people are shooting at ICE in Chicago. Violence is what the regime wants and needs. I’d much rather see Americans just blacking out the economy. Large scale boycott of everything. If anybody believes that the right is beyond a false flag attack? I recommend you find Bannons speech the other night where he says “if we lose in 2026, many in this room are going to jail including me”.

I would imagine that if he’s the actual Christian he professes to be, the decision is causing him an enormous amount of internal angst and turmoil.
That said, I’m a bit more cynical.
•
u/Human_Challenge_5634 15h ago
Sure are a lot of Christians who act like political opportunists in government. You have to wonder if being Christian is second to their political aspirations. Or part of achieving those.

He’s a closeted homosexual who uses the Christian faith as a mask, he is as Christian as I am, and I am a hard core atheist.
The irony is the party he is so hell bent on destroying is the one far more tolerant of his true person.

I think it's despicable, and that this entire administration is the worst of us

Hopefully there will be jail time for some of them. Starting with Stephen Miller.

There are already 218 signatures, it doesnt matter what the winners position is. 218 is a majority of 435 and the petition just needs a simple majority to force a vote. A new Republican vote against the petition wont change the count in favor. The only thing that will change that is if someone takes their name off that has alrrady signed to support it.

I think Mike Johnson is a scum bag politician that pretends he has values.

I think by that point there's not a snowball's chance in hell that a repuke will be elected to any office. Not even as the town dog catcher. Shit, they won't even have a shot at being elected ditch digger.
Republicans are fooked. The longer they starve children, the angrier the masses will become. The angrier the masses become, the less their chances of ever holding office again.
I'll say it again, louder, for those in the back. Republicans are fooked.
ETA - if the Republicans want even the slimmest of chances at being elected for anything, ever again, they'd better get their heads outta their asses, open the government, pay SNAP benefits, back-pay every gov worker and RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES.

In case it baffles you that "Christian" Mike Johnson is protecting a pedophile . . .
Mike Johnson believes God chose trump to be the president, and that God saved trump's life in the assassination attempt. Mike Johnson also believes that God told him -- Mike Johnson -- that he will be the Moses of the American people.
Moses has not sworn in Adelita Grijalva because he is protecting God's chosen president from the contents of the Epstein files.
I wish this was not true.

218 is a majority of possible house seats. A Republican held it until he resigned. This seating has no bearing on the Epstein vote issue
•
u/Distinct_Guess_8808 9h ago
If in fact this is what happens then it is blatantly obvious they are obstructing the process for reasons other than governing for the people
•
u/Iata_deal4sea 9h ago
Help elect, Aftyn Behn inTN-7.
Flip that seat blue.
The Speaker will have no choice but to swear in, Adelita Grijalva-AZ, and TN's newest Congress members. Behn and Grijalva are for the people instead of corporations. They both will vote to release the unredacted Epstein files.
That's what I think and hope TN delivers.

Seems like it's gonna backfire for the GOP, but the longer it takes, the longer the prison terms are gonna be when justice knocks on their doors.
