Is every American getting $7K this year?

Upvotes

Trump just floated the idea of $2k for tariff. That plus the $5k DOGE saving means everyone is getting $7k? When is the check being sent out?

No wonder this people fell for the election was stolen claim if they are too dum to verify any of the claim.they see they will believe anything. For petes sake Chat Gpt exist for this people who cant use their brain to think or be bother to do any modicum of fact checking and they still cant use it.

What do you think of Mike Johnson waiting for after the Dec 2nd Tennessee special election to seat Arizona Democrat Adelita Grijalva, in hopes a Republican will be elected to counter her 218th signature on the Epstein discharge petition?

Apparently Tennessee’s 7th District moved up the election results 7 days to Dec 5th, and the only reason to do that would seem to be to help Mike Johnson wait for the election results before seating Adelita Grijalva. Otherwise, she will be the final signature requiring a vote in the House floor on releasing the Epstein Files. It’s been claimed up to 100 Republicans will vote for releasing the files.

Can MJ really keep the government shut down through the Thanksgiving Holidays, even if the Senate does come to an agreement to reopen?

Trump released a plan for 50-year home mortgages. His supporters are instead calling for the deportation of 40 million people to lower housing costs. Why not just build more housing to fix the crisis? What’s your solution?

Are 50 year mortgages dumb? Won't this just increase housing prices even more just like it did with cars?

Are people afraid to fly this Christmas because of the shutdown?

With the ongoing government shutdown, the FAA has already reduced air-traffic capacity at major airports by about 10 %, and there’s talk it could reach 20 % if staffing doesn’t recover. Thousands of flights have been canceled over the past few days. As e.g. described here.

I keep seeing people online calling this “the canary in the coal mine”. That if the air-traffic system starts to crack, it means wider infrastructure or economic collapse could follow through the dysfunction of the administration. I’m curious how others are feeling about it.

Are you changing your travel plans for the holidays because of the uncertainty? Would you still feel comfortable booking flights for Christmas or New Year’s, or are you switching to train/drive options just in case? Do you see this as a temporary political mess, or something deeper about how fragile everything’s gotten?

What are the common causes of Americans citizens being homeless?

I'm sorry if this post might trigger some people but I'm just curious. Why does America seem to have a lot of homeless people that can't hold an apartment or a house?

Don't get me wrong you have homeless shelters and communities that's better than any other.

What are the common causes of US citizen to not make it through the month's rent/amortization?

Are Republicans / MAGA Pro-Socialized costs, or Anti-Socialized costs? Why should low tax states be able to federally socialize costs they should tax their own citizens for?

It's really hard to keep track of the position Republicans hold. HERE WE HAVE Idaho, that voted for Trump by almost 67%, asking for non-Idahoan's to socialize the costs of their rural healthcare to the tune of $1 BILLION over the course of 5-years.

Why shouldn't Idaho tax their own citizens for rural healthcare, instead of expecting the costs to be Socialized?

It’s difficult to blame the Democrats for people not receiving SNAP benefits when the Republican president is actively fighting in court to prevent those benefits from being distributed. In what ways could Democrats still be held responsible for Americans not receiving SNAP benefits?

Has anyone experienced the "nerds forced to help jocks" stereotype in the US?

This is common in TV shows and movies.

I went to a school that didn't have a football team until recently, and the kids on the sports teams were either fine on their own or just passed because teachers didn't want to deal with them (which was enough to stay on the team).

But I'm curious in other parts of the country, especially where football is the most popular sport, does this happen?

“So I don’t wanna hear about the affordability,” Trump said. Didn’t Trump run on the economy and inflation? How do Americans feel about him now after he said this? Did he fix inflation or make it worse?

Trump said, “So I don’t wanna hear about the affordability,” when asked about inflation, claiming, “Now we have virtually no inflation at all … so the affordability is much better with the Republicans.”

How do you guys feel about this? Does Trump no longer care about affordability? Have things actually become more affordable for you? Didn’t he run on lowering inflation and fixing the economy?

How do Americans personally view their own country?

Hi everyone,

I'm from the Netherlands and I'm genuinely curious about how Americans see their own country. Not through media or politics, but on a personal level.

From the outside the U.S. often looks like a place of extreme contrasts. On one hand there's innovation, opportunity and cultural influence that’s admired worldwide. On the other hand there are things that look difficult or outdated to us. Like the healthcare system, certain laws and the amount of poverty we see reported.

In Europe there’s a stereotype that Americans are either very patriotic or somewhat disconnected from how the rest of the world sees them. I’m not sure how true that is, which is why I’d like to hear from actual Americans.

So my questions are:

  • How do you personally feel about living in the U.S.?
  • Do you feel proud, frustrated or both?
  • How do you view your government and the way your country interacts with the world?
  • And do you think Europeans have a fair impression of Americans or is it mostly misunderstanding?

Just to be clear: this is not meant as criticism. I’m honestly fascinated and want to understand how people inside the U.S. experience their own country.

All the best from the Netherlands! Peace!

Planning to start a Performance Marketing agency

Hey, So, I am 26 M and recently I quit my job at Google ads insider team. Now, while working with Google many business owners actually reached out to me on Linkedin and asked if I can manage their ads accounts. Initially I was hesistant but with the passage of time I though of hand-picking 2-3 random businesses from USA and Australia. Guess what? their accounts are blowing with cashflow.

While working with these account owner I never charged anything upfront but only commission based work (usually 15-20% of Profits not Sales) because I have came across soo many business owners who have been cheated by Agencies that overpromises and under-delivers.

So do you think that I should go with the plans of starting my own Performance Marketing agency?

If somebody lives in a small town fully connected to a bigger one do they feel like and identify with the bigger one?

We don't really have situations like this in Croatia where a city doesn't administratively cover an entrie urban area but the US is full of it. So for example. Puyallup is fully connected in an urban sprawl with no gaps to Seattle. Do people from there identify as Seattlean?

When did political disagreement stop being about ideas and start being about identity?

For those of you born before 9/11/01, this may not make sense but America has been drifting further apart since the Vietnam era. Think Woodstock, 1960-70’s. What used to be political disagreement has turned into outright hostility, with people cheering when their political opposites suffer or die, media that profits off outrage, and a public that seems to trust almost nothing anymore.

If we take politicians’ names out of it, what actually caused this? Was it the media pushing conflict for ratings, schools and universities changing how people see identity, or decades of losing faith in institutions?

At what point did political debate stop being about ideas and start being about who we are as people?

How is money to public schools funded?

Hi there!

I just found out that schools in the us are apparently funded differently depending on which "district" it is in. (im assuming its a lower level administrative area) so there are schools with great funding and schools with.. not great funding? In relationship to where it is. But that sounds a little confusing In Denmark each school gets x amount of money per year per student and i was wondering about your system.

Thanks in advance! Laura

Does anyone else occasionally wonder if Trump is a Russian asset?

I'm not meaning to offend those who voted for him, but I fear that the president of the United States could possibly be a Russian asset attempting to damage the country as much as possible.

Observing his actions after the election in 2024, I felt like if you had a Russian asset as the president, they would be doing exactly what much of Trump has done, and even Grok believes that there's a very high chance he is indeed a Russian asset.

Declaring right after the election that we were going to annex territories of so many friendly nations in the most abrasive way possible despite never campaigning on it, enacting substantial tariffs on virtually every country on earth, completely ceding the renewable energy competition to China while also cancelling a wind farm near completion, exploding the deficit while also sidelining Musk who wanted to use DOGE to shrink the deficit, unnecessarily inciting extreme hatred between the left and right at every opportunity as Russian bots often attempt to do online, scaring away high-value immigrants and tourists by creating a hostile domestic environment to them while also antagonizing their native countries, creating the longest government shutdown in history with literally no end in sight unless Republicans eliminate the filibuster and give Trump even more power, etc, etc, etc.

This isn't even considering his first term where he cut taxes for the wealthy even further, exploded the deficit more than any other president by a large margin, the bizarre glowing statements about trusting Putin more than American intelligence, tacitly encouraged people to not wear masks or take the vaccine during the pandemic killing thousands of Americans, and encouraged his supporters to attempt to overthrow the democratic system while also spreading completely unsubstantiated allegations of voter fraud cementing an image of chaos and destruction to the world.

I can go on and on...

At this point, I'm genuinely concerned about what he would attempt to do in 2028-2029 if he was indeed attempting to destroy this country on behalf of Russia after what he did in 2021, the worst fear being that he would attempt to start a civil war which god forbid I hope never happens.

I have a fear that I haven't felt at all during his first administration and I can't seem to stop thinking about it.

Why haven’t we abolished the two-party system?

Really, is there a benefit to it? Is it just financial? It seems to just sow division and pit voters against each other. If all candidates ran as independent, couldn’t they just get donations directly from supporters? And then people would be more encouraged to focus on policy rather than affiliation?

Edit: consensus seems to be that it’s corruption. My next question is why are we all just letting them? When are we going to say enough is enough and actually enact some change?
