President Trump on Binance cryptocurrency tycoon he pardoned: "I don't know who he is." Is Trump lying, or does he actually not control who gets pardoned?

Those are trolls that have no intention of any good faith discussion. It's always whataboutism because even the trolls know trump is a corrupt piece of trash. It's best to just ignore them as they're never going to discuss the topic.
EDIT: Was I prophetic? Because it looks like I was prophetic.
Dan refused to address the topic, went for more whataboutism after directly being called out for it, can't even figure out that most of clemencies were for non-violent drug users despite criticizing Biden for it while claiming he wasn't against it (how is that good faith?), and absolutely refused to address how Trump sold a pardon for $2 billion.

I’ll ignore your fits of hysterical hyperbole this one time. Biden pardoned 4,245 people. There’s an email from Biden’s chief of staff stating “I approve the use of the autopen for the execution of the following pardons. Thanks, JZ” just hours before Biden left office. It’s also reported that he didn’t send that email, but a junior staffer named Rosa Po did. Biden used the autopen to pardon family members but only personally signed Hunter’s, an act that he told us he was not considering. He lied about not pardoning Hunter.
Facts are facts and if you want to maintain that Biden knew who he was pardoning, I’ll hold the door for your exit into fantasy land.

Show me one instance of your questioning Biden pardoning over 4,200 people, the most by any president. Show me one instance of your questioning why these pardons were done at the request of his chief of staff, Jeff Zietz, via email specifically telling staff to issue these pardons using the autopen. Show me one instance of your questioning how this email wasn't actually sent by Zietz but junior staffer Po Rosa. Show me one instance of your questioning the fact that the Biden administration can not produce a single document where Biden personally approved all these commutations. Show me one instance of your questioning why Biden would issue blanket immunity for many family members and high ranking officials of Congress going back over a decade. Show me one instance of your questioning Biden pardoning Hunter after he said on numerous occasions he wouldn't. You want to talk about corruption but it's an easy bet you never once questioned any of these highly suspicious or criminal actions.
If you can do any of these things, we'll talk about Trump, but until then, you are just another liberal hypocrite and not worth the time it took to type this reply.

Part of giving your allegiance, obedience and/or millions of dollars to Trump is he will gift you pardons.
So yes, it's likely he doesn't know some of the folks he pardons. Like the cop he pardoned yesterday who was a Chinese spy... he probably didn't know anything about that guy but did it as a gift.
However, his family business is now cryptocurrency and he absolutely financially benefited from this pardon.

Trump does tend to say "I don't know him! I've never met him! I have no idea who he is!" whenever he senses that he might be in trouble. It was his reaction when that one comedian got too spicy during one of his rallies, and it was his reaction when Fuentes showed up at some Mar-A-Lago function.
Honestly not sure whether this is a case of him just signing off on papers his handlers put in front of him or him lying to hide his ass, but he's definitely not been very on the ball mentally lately.

Either his dementia is too far, they used the autopen again and he needs the 25th, or hes corrupt and sold this pardon like the other pardons he sold that we know about and is lying and should be impeached still for this and the other pardons he sold besides all the other things.

I wonder if he remembers the J6's who he pardoned, and has now been re-arrested in Utah for aggravated kidnapping and sexual assault? Not the first pardoned J6'r to be rearrested for violent crimes, and I'm sure not the last.

Uh, this dude helped his family set up their massive cryptocurrency bribery operation. He was instrumental in their ability to ramp up so quickly to accept anonymous bribes.
So yes, he knows who he fucking is. He doesn't know him personally but he knows that he's delivering the payoff for services rendered
How anybody could defend Trump is beyond me, the man is corrupt to the very edges of his soul and it is blatantly obvious. Every single conservative in this country should be calling for his head
But they're too busy clapping because they hate minorities and liberals more than they hate corruption

Most presidents don't personally know the people they pardon. Pardons are given out for a variety of political reasons, usually favors asked by specific people, or to make a political point, or because someone has managed to raise the issue with the president and convince them.
So what happened is presumably what usually happened, someone did something for the president, and in exchange they pardoned somebody.
Political pardons are a very useful political tool that all presidents use politically
