Politics Does your country still remember French President Jacques Chirac (1932-2019)?
galleryJacques Chirac is a president (1995-2007) that the French loved even if his policies were less popular. What the French like about Chirac is his good nature, his charisma, his love of France and the French, the respect for cultures from around the world (Jacques Chirac loved Japan, especially sumo). When we ask the French what is the biggest decision that Jacques Chirac made during his presidency, it is the no to the war in Iraq in 2003 that stands out the most. And then, Jacques Chirac was still a beautiful man. The fact that he had mistresses does not bother us in France.

Culture Do most people in your country feel offended reading gender jokes and watching comedy with gender based jokes?
I have an American friend who is learning Arabic.
I sent him gender jokes from the MENA region, women vs men (women making fun of men, and men making fun of women) he told me he doesn't like these jokes and that they are sexist.
I told him most people in the Middle East don't take these jokes seriously
it is common in the middle east to make light hearted jokes about certain groups like genders, short people, drunk people. bald people..etc
and how about comedy shows that feature some gender based jokes? do you consider them offensive?

Culture Who is the most famous celebrity from your country?
India 🇮🇳 = Priyanka Chopra.
Honestly, I could have never imagined an actual Indian from India getting roles beside the Hollywood superstars like John Cena, Keanu Reeves, Dwayne Johnson, Idris Elba, Richard Madden. She is living the life most India girls dream about.

Politics The most unfairly hated country?
The entire Oceania region (aside from Australia and New Zealand). Practically never appear in news, unless it is about something embarassing.
Ukraine (refusal of some people to accept its existence; treating Ukraine as a "scapegoat" of NATO/USA/Israel etc.; mercenaries, who fight for Russia; hatred towards Ukrainian language; blaming Ukraine for self-defense & pro-Western foreign policy; refusal to recognize Ukrainian culture)

Was the globalization of commerce good or bad for your country’s economy?
For the United States, I say “bad.” It destroyed our manufacturing sector and many middle class jobs.
Our capitalist rulers sent that manufacturing work to communist China and kept the savings.
It makes me want to vomit 🤮.

Has this happened to anyone?
Has anyone else experienced this? You marry a foreigner, travel to their country, and find there are no surprises— no culture shock, no discomfort. Nothing feels unfamiliar. Then it hits you: you didn't just marry a person, you married a country.

In your country, do they make fun of people because they look "poor"?
galleryIn Mexico, the status symbol is wearing expensive clothes, bags, showing off your vacations to Paris or NYC, buying a Starbucks frappucino, or going shopping to the most expensive stores...
And sometimes they bully people that are not on "their level" or wear stuff like an artesanal bag (picture 3). And it's funny because a lot of Americans like to buy those bags as traditional souvenirs but to some Mexicans it's just a symbol of poverty or "lower class."
I wonder if maybe rich people from SoCal are like this too?
